The current Nintendo Wii console may be getting replaced this year but the device is still sitting in a number households. The aging console has seen some recent price drops that have seen a number of units being sold, and now Nintendo is adding new features to the Wii ahead of the Wii U release.

It is thought that around 4.5 million new Nintendo Wii’s have been sold recently, and with this in mind Nintendo is adding Hulu Plus support to the device. The new service according to Digital Trends was announced by Nintendo and Hulu, and owners of the device can get the Hulu Plus application from the Wii Shop Channel.

The application is free to download but the service is priced at $7.99 per month for access to complete seasons of TV shows that are still in production. For owners that are not already subscribers can make use of a free two week trial during the first month of the service being available on the console.

It has also been announced that the interface on the console has been enhanced so users can point and click easier with the Wii Remote. This will make browsing through the Hulu content of movies and TV shows a nicer experience.

Users will have to make do with standard definition content though, as unlike the PS3 and Xbox 360 the Nintendo Wii does not support HD. Hulu Plus arrived on the PS3 back in November 2010 with the Xbox 360 getting it the following April. Netflix has already been available on the Wii for almost two years now, and is priced at the same level as Hulu Plus.

There was also the announcement that the Nintendo 3DS will be treated to the Hulu Plus service later in the year, but no actual month was specified. The handheld console already has Netflix support along with Nintendo Video. Will you be using Hulu Plus on your Nintendo Wii?

Later this year will see Nintendo launching its new Wii U console after it was first announced at last year’s E3 event. In the meantime there has growing speculation regarding what the next move will be from both Sony and Microsoft. While that is currently not known we have news of a retailer that slashes console prices ahead of any next gen release.

Consumers over in the UK are now being offered some new console bundle deals from supermarket chain Morrison’s. According to an article over at MCV the 160GB version of the PlayStation 3 is available for only £150, while the 250GB version is priced at £200. The 320GB PS3 Karate Kid bundle is now only £200.

If you would rather have the Microsoft Xbox 360 the 4GB Kinect bundle is up for only £185, or the 250GB console is yours for £150. If you already have the Xbox 360 and want to add the Kinect this on its own is now £85.

The Nintendo Wii has seen some big price drops as well, and is not surprising considering its replacement is being released later this year. The Blue version bundled with Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is now only £85. The white Wii along with Mario Kart is available for the same price, and the Wii Family Edition is also £85.

These prices are pretty cheap when compared to online retailer Amazon who has the Blue Wii bundle for £109.99, and the 320GB PS3 Karate Kid bundle is £229.99. While over at rival supermarket Tesco the Blue Wii bundle is listed at £129, and the 160GB PS3 is priced at £199.

Other retailers will probably soon be offering their own deals that could be even better than Morrison’s, as they try and get consumers to part with their cash. Have you seen even cheaper prices elsewhere?

This could prove to be a big year for Nintendo as it nears the release of its new Wii U console. The 3DS continues to sell well after a slow start, and the company’s various platforms have a great lineup of games due for release as well. We can now tell that Mario Party 9 is dated for release.

Many gamers favorite character will be making a comeback on the current Wii Console across Europe on March 2nd. The game is only available on the Wii platform, and according to Electronic Theatre will feature a whole host of new game modes. These include battles against bosses and also new playable characters from the Mushroom Kingdom.

You will have to think one step ahead of your opponents in the new game as you try to collect the most Mini Stars, and beat Bowser. Mario Party 9 has 80 new mini games that are accessible to all Mario fans that include racing snowmobiles, escaping haunted mansions, and making pizzas.

Boss Battle is another new mini game that allows up to four players to combine their powers to beat a series of classic Mario boss characters collecting Mini Stars. This leads to the final battle with Bowser, and while you need to work as a team to beat the bosses, winners are picked by the amount of stars gained and how much damaged inflicted on each boss.

The mini games can be played without the need to complete a stage first, and you can improve your skills on any Mini game by using the Free Play mode. With all the new options the game will keep Mario fans entertained for hours.

Will you be buying Mario Party 9?

If for some reason you have yet to own a Nintendo Wii in your gaming ‘career’ so far, now may be the best time to do so as we’re hearing that one US retailer will be giving consumers the chance to own a limited edition console in Blue, which hasn’t been seen anywhere up until now.

The most traditional colors for the Nintendo Wii are white and black as most of you will be aware, but Walmart has announced that during their holiday sales this year, they will be offering a limited edition Blue console for a very tempting price, for 24 hours only.

If you head to places like Amazon, you’ll see that they have the Black Nintendo Wii Mario Kart bundle listed for a reasonable $149.99, while you’ll also find a Red Nintendo Wii bundle available for $212.99 as well. Walmart are going one step further though as usual, by offering this slick blue console for under $100 ($99.96 to be exact) this Thursday starting at 10pm and lasting until 10pm the following day – Black Friday.

Usually, Walmart’s deals are shrouded in mystery prior to Thanksgiving, but this year Walmart are changing their strategy and have even set up a Twitter page to inform bargain hunters about incoming deals – just like this Tweet for example showing the Blue Nintendo Wii. Here’s a picture of the console so you can see what it will look like – very sexy in our opinion and we have a feeling you’ll probably agree.

Don’t forget that Nintendo has just released The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as well, so this is another incentive to pick this one and play the latest game in what is one of the best loved franchises in gaming history. The game has been getting stunning reviews as you would expect from a Zelda game, so we definitely recommend you take time out from the likes of MW3, BF3 and Skyrim to give Skyward Sword some love.

If you are interested in this deal, make sure you get to Walmart well before 10pm as you just know that these are going to be in high demand. Let us know if you are planning to queue up for one.

Owners of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have long had features on their consoles that allow for watching content that is streamed via the internet. Now in a move that may please some users, Nintendo are to join the Hulu Plus party with hours of TV content being made available.

Reggie Fils-Aime Nintendo USA president, has confirmed that users will be able to get Hulu Plus on their 3DS or Wii console by the end of the year. The service has been available for months now on the PS3 and Xbox 360, and now for $7.99 a month Nintendo users will have access as well.

According to PCMag the 3DS is going to get a major firmware update next month, which will allow users to have 3D video recording. Users will be able to record up to ten minutes of 3D video, and even create their own 3D stop-motion animation videos.

The company will also provide 3D music videos for sale such as Foster the People’s “Don’t Stop.” On the Nintendo eShop is a 3D music video of Michael Jackson’s Thriller that has been covered by characters from Shrek, which can be purchased for $1.99.

Nintendo also announced the availability in Japan of the online community for Mario kart 7. This is set to hit the market on December 4th on the console, and the latest version will allow players to build their own racing competition, and challenge up to 7 other 3DS players online.

Despite a slow start to its shelf life Nintendo has been trying to improve interest in the 3DS, which included a price cut that is to be followed with the release of some big titles in the coming months. Have you got a Nintendo 3DS?

It looks like all new hardware units from now on will ship without Gamecube support.

If you’re a fan of retro gaming, this is going to serve as a kick in the teeth as it was always a nice bonus to be able to slip in your timeless Gamecube disks for when your friends come over for a session.

Unless you have the GameCube console itself however, this is no longer going to be possible for you, as just like Sony did with PS2 support, Nintendo are removing this functionality from all new consoles. One example of this can be seen in the recently announced New Super Mario Bros Wii bundle which will be hitting shops on October 23, priced at $150 as reported from Joystiq.

The bundle will consist of a black Nintendo Wii console, the New Super Mario Bros game, a black Nunchuk and also a bonus CD containing tracks from Super Mario Galaxy. As also noted by Joystiq though, is a little ‘retro’ loophole that you may want to consider if you are buying a Wii. Nintendo has confirmed that they’ll also be selling the exact same bundle, but with Mario Kart instead of New Super Mario Bros for the same price. The big difference between the two bundles though, is that the Mario Kart package retains support for GameCube titles – mind boggling stuff from Nintendo perhaps?

With that in tact, we have a feeling that the Mario Kart bundles are going to be in very short supply once gamers find out this little piece of info about GameCube support. If you don’t own a Wii, the next time you head into a game store and see the Mario Kart bundle on offer, it may be worth paying $150 for the last chance of having the opportunity to retro game once again with your GameCube classics.

Our question to you: Do you even use GameCube support on your current Wii?

While there has been a lot of talk of the next generation of home gaming consoles, there are many who just want to concentrate to what they have now. There is a lot of tribal support for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with fans on both sides claiming to have the best hardware. But which console has the best exclusives?

Everyone will have their own views on which console is best and which has the best software and features, but both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are great machines in their own right no matter which side of the fence you sit on. There is even some lucky enough to own both units and have the best of both worlds.

The Xbox 360 was the first of the current generation of consoles to get its big release. It has some great franchises available for its owners which include the likes of Alan Wake, Halo, Fable, Gears of War, Forza Motorsport, and Left for Dead amongst others.

You may not agree that the games are any good or can think of some better titles which are exclusive to the Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 is arguably has better specs than the Xbox 360, but the console got off to a slow start.

Some of the exclusives on the PS3 include the likes of Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet & Clank to name but a few. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are not alone in having some great exclusive games, as even the old Nintendo Wii has the likes of the Mario franchise and Zelda.

This is only a few of the exclusives available for all the consoles good or bad, and there will be many not listed in this article. We have also seen Xbox 360 owners getting Call of Duty DLC earlier than PS3 owners, which although not exclusive can be frustrating for PS3 owners.

Personally I currently have a PS3 and Wii, but am looking to get the Xbox 360 soon as my kids keep going on about the Microsoft Kinect. Whether after purchasing it I get anywhere near it remains to be seen, but wherever your loyalties lie there are some great games to enjoy. Take part in our poll below and tell us what you think.

Now we have some more good news, as THQ has just released a new fact sheet that provides us with a few more game details.

As noted by Kev J over at electronictheatre.co.uk, the WWE 12 game features a new Predator Technology dynamic gameplay system, which promises to look, feel and play much better than ever before. The game also features a brand new Breaking Point submission system, as well as new Attributes.

The WWE 12 game’s best-in-class creation suite gives wrestling fans the ability to create and customize their very own Superstars, finishing moves, entrances and even storylines. Meanwhile, the Road to Wrestlemania Mode will allow players to explore brand new storylines and major gameplay improvements.

WWE 12 also comes with the WWE Universe 2.0 Mode, which will generate brand new and more impactful elements of unpredictability based on the decisions of the individual player. The game has an extensive roster including Albert Del Rio, The Miz, John Cena and Randy Orton.

You can read more about the WWE 12 game via the electronictheatre.co.uk link. Are you looking forward to the upcoming wrestling game?

Back in April we announced that the entire series of Bit.Trip rhythm games would at some stage be coming to the Nintendo 3DS handheld as one complete collection known as the Bit.Trip Saga. Now we have just heard that a retail version has recently been announced for the Nintendo Wii.

According to Mike Rose over at gamasutra.com, developer Gaijin Games has just revealed that there will indeed be a retail version of its popular and well-received WiiWare series for the Nintendo Wii. What’s more is that the Wii version will contain extras that are not found in the 3DS and WiiWare versions.

Gaijin Games said that the Aksys Games-published Nintendo Wii retail version will not only come with the six original Bit.Trip titles, but it will also contain commentary from the games’ creator Alex Neuse for each title and special art and sound galleries.

The Wii version will also feature new difficulty levels, as well as a set of 120 brand new challenge levels – 20 levels for each of the six Bit.Trip games. Although we don’t have an exact release date as of yet, we do know that both the Nintendo Wii and 3DS versions are due to arrive simultaneously later this year.

Will you buy the Bit.Trip Saga for the Nintendo Wii?

The launch of Nintendo’s latest device the 3DS was hotly anticipated and when it finally released initial sales were exactly what the company could have hoped for. However some people were unable to afford the 3D experience so opt for the predecessor Nintendo DS Lite, a 2D equivalent.

Today we have great news for those that do not own either device as the DS Lite, which is still having great success sales wise, has just been given a price cut. The originally priced $129.99 device shifted 17.52 million units and nearly 121 million games.

The company is looking to increase the number of units sold with the cost cut which bring s the asking price down to just $99.99. The price reduction comes not long after the Wii became discounted by the company in a bid to increase sales there. The Wii is now just $149.99.

Both these cuts have the same agenda, to increase sales but for different reasons. Check out the article over at Slashgear for more details about the price cut where you will also find a full press release.

Do you think the DS Lite’s new price tag is enough to make you want to buy one?
