Dead Rising Comparison: Nintendo Wii vs Xbox 360

Filed under Game Video & Trailers, Gaming

The Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are very different games consoles, and while Microsoft’s games system excels in graphics, the Nintendo Wii wins over most casual gamers.
So having the same game compared on both these systems may seem pointless, but this has been done. Below this post you can see a video comparing Dead Rising on the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 was first to get the game and now you can see how the Wii compares, even if it’s for just the gameplay side of things.
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop has received negative opinion from most gamers so far; this is due to the lack of zombies on-screen. We have heard that the developers are working to fix this issue.
Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think of the new Dead Rising game, and the comparison.

Asus Eee Stick: How Nintendo Wii Remote should look
August 7, 2008 by Peter

When I first laid eyes on the Asus Eee Stick I thought it was a couple of new controllers for the Nintendo Wii. Ok so I am a little dumb, but I bet I was not the only one who thought it.
The name that Asus has chosen “Eee Stick” is a strange one as they are a couple of sticks that are mated to a wireless receiver. So what is the Eee Stick I hear you ask, well they are basically a gamepad that has been split in half. This is something that Sony had hoped to launch at some stage.
The Eee Stick has motion sensing technology like the Wii Remote; I bet Nintendo wish that they had designed theirs to look as sleek as these. Asus has said that tailored games that require the Eee Stick will come bundled in the controllers.
As yet there is no idea when the Eee Stick will be released, but Asus reps have hinted that the UK could see them sometime in September.
Asus will make an announcement in the next few weeks.
Why do gamers dump on systems? Xbox 360, Sony PS3 & Nintendo Wii
July 23, 2008 by Daniel
Filed under Gaming, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360

We see it all the time, whenever some news is reported on Product Reviews, N4G, Digg, Game Trailers and other sites; gamers have to run each games console down.
Why do some gamers have to dump on systems? The Xbox 360 has its advantages over the Sony PS3 and also the other way round; the Nintendo Wii makes up in gameplay what it lacks in graphics.
We can understand why some people will hate a certain system, I personally had RROD on my Xbox 360 and although that was a downer, you cannot knock how good Microsoft’s software, in game chat and other cool features are.
Why do you think we see gamers compelled to run down another games system that they may have not even owned?
Just looking at a post yesterday about a guy called Chris who CLAIMED to have worked on the first Xbox 360 prototype and has now switched to the Sony PS3, while this is a rumor about why RROD may have happened, the comments were taken over by console bashing.
It’s getting much more common today for this type of console bashing to happen between gamers, lets try and keep things more clean from now on. Have you had enough of people just running down consoles for the fun of it?
Nintendo Wii friend code privacy problem
July 22, 2008 by Daniel

How do you feel about the Nintendo Wii friend codes? Do you think there are problems, well Nintendo think so and have said friend codes aren’t perfect.
They would love to add features that many of you may have already suggested but have one major problem that involves children using the Nintendo Wii.
Privacy online is a big issue and even more so if we are talking about the younger gamer, Nintendo know this and it’s the one thing stopping them improving Wii friend codes.
They do not want children getting harassed and Nintendo want to assure people that safety and security of the gamer comes first.
The Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 have universal I.D.s across all online games, but the Nintendo Wii takes security more seriously and makes gamers insert a 12-digit friend code to play friends online.
If you wish to play strangers on the Wii it will be without the use of codes, we are hearing that improvements will be coming soon to the friend code system on the Wii. You can view other Wii News here.
What would be a good way for Nintendo to protect gamer privacy and encourage community on the Wii?

Nintendo Wii Remote Motionplus: Lightsaber game coming
July 15, 2008 by Peter

For those of you who have been waiting for a lightsaber game, you will be pleased to hear that we could be getting a step closer to it. Nintendo have now announced a new accessory for the Will called Wii Motionplus.
This new attachment which fits on to the bottom of the Wiimote allows for more accurate responses to the motion that the player makes. Nintndo say that this new attachment will do a better job of “reflecting motions in a 3-D space”.
According to Slippery Brick, the Wii Motionplus fits to the bottom of the controller and works in conjunction with the controller’s accelerometer and the Wii sensor bar, Nintendo say that with all three working together, the motion of the players hand and arm are true 1:1 response.
This is the kind of technology that is needed for many first person shooter games, as well as the long awaited lightsaber game that Wii fans are hoping for.
Although the standard Wii Remote does a great job when tracking your hand and arm movements, it can sometimes be a little shaky. The Wii Motionplus add-on improves the precision of those movements, this will be a great help to so many games.
At this moment there are no details on pricing or a release date.
Is the PlayStation 3 More Popular than the Nintendo Wii?

Filed under Gaming, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3

The Sony PlayStation 3 games console aims at a totally different gamer than the Nintendo Wii but today PS3 Daily ask the question “Is the PlayStation 3 More Popular than the Nintendo Wii?”
As an owner of both 7th generation consoles I know how good both these systems are and also I personally use them for different types of gaming, the PS3 gets used more when I am on my own and the Wii when we have guests.
PS3 Daily looks at the features of both the Wii and Playstation 3, they take a look at the inside of these machines and what makes them tick.
If you do not own either of these games consoles and are thinking of buying one, remember that your choice of the Nintendo Wii or Playstation 3 will boil down to your gaming habits and, of course, your budget.
If you’re a casual and family oriented gamer then the Wii is a cost-effective solution, but if your gaming tastes involves high performance and graphically rich gaming then the Playstation 3 is an altogether better solution. Read PS3 Daily’s take on what’s more popular of the two.
World Exclusive Video Trailer of Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels: Is this for you?

Filed under Game Video & Trailers, Gaming, Nintendo Wii

The video below is pretty nice when you watch it and that is all thanks to the power of Wiimote, the announcement of Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels may be exciting to some but to some not the case but the fact that it is a immersive Wiimote-as-lightsaber game surely this puts a little fun into the game.
Personally this game is not on my top ten list, I have the Wii, the 360 and the PS3 and always by titles and this Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels is not one I will be buying; it is not what I call a fantastic game. Ok it seems fun but seems a lot of hard work for me. Many of you will hate the fact George Lucas is not doing it, this would not make a good movie not alone a good game, ok yes a lightsaber game for Wii is a good idea but come on we need something that actually looks a little bit like Star Wars. I love Star Wars to bits and I mean I really love it, but for some reason this game does not get my juices flowing.
I would love to know what you think about Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels, please watch the world exclusive video trailer below and then let me know what you think.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4) helps push Sony Playstation 3 Sales beyond Nintendo Wii
June 20, 2008 by Mark
Filed under Gaming, News, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3

The Playstation 3 (PS3) has beat Nintendo Wii for the 3rd time, all those PS3 gamers will be happy to know that the Sony console has outsold the Wii and this is thanks to the awesome game Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4).
The PS3 has outsold the Wii worldwide for the week of June 7th to June 14th; well this is what VGChartz has reported. To break it down this is basically the 7th time the Sony PS3 was able to outsell the Nintendo Wii in the States, but in Japan this was the 3rd time. We say the mega PS3 console sales is all thanks to the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, and with the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle for example the Wal-Mart deal which features a $100 gift card with the purchase of any PS3, you know that is an amazing deal.
We could put a number of reasons why the Sony PS3 dominated the Wii; want to hear them do you? Well how about these for example: 1) Nintendo Wii shortages, you know hard to get hold of the damn things and this could possibly be why the PS3 dominated. 2) Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle helped the PS3 sales. 3) Sony PS3 is more superior (maybe).
Why do you think the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) dominated the Nintendo Wii in sales for the week of June 7th to June 14th?
Nintendo Wii gets Rock Band : What about UK PS3 owners?
June 19, 2008 by Alan
Filed under Gaming, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3

Rock Band has fast become a huge success since it was released back in November on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. It is a game which is heavily in demand, but it looks as if Rock Band will finally be getting a Wii release. Due to hit US shores on the 22nd June, Nintendo Wii owners will be rewarded for their patience as the Wii will receive 5 extra tracks on the disc that the 360 and PS3 did not have (Although available on DLC) . Some of the bonus material includes ‘Roxanne’ by The Police and ‘Rockaway Beach’ by The Ramones.
In a recent article on Crispy Gamer, they managed to speak to Rock Band producer Matt Kelly, to ask him various questions regarding the future of Rock Band and gave away some hints on what we can expect in future versions. When quizzed about the fact that Guitar Hero had a Aerosmith based game on the way and if Rock Band had anything similar on the horizon he stated, “We’re excited we’ve been able to provide deep musical experiences with specific artists through DLC of full albums. As for future plans, we haven’t announced anything at this time.” He did though however say that developers were “working closely with Metallica” and to stay tuned to hear more announcements on this.
As a resident in the UK I have been questioning why Rock Band has yet to be released on the PS3 over here, considering the fact that it has been out since November in the US, and not a word on the UK release I find a little frustrating. Are there any other UK PS3 owners who feel the same?

Sony PS3 to get Nintendo Wii Balance Board type device
June 18, 2008 by Peter
Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

When it comes to games consoles that require a peripheral it is the Nintendo Wii that is king, this is since the launch of the Balance Board. However; other consoles have had great success with using peripherals. Games which have utilized this are Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Both these titles have seen great success, so just think how future titles will be perceived by the public if more was launched.
The world of gaming is full of rumours the latest being that, the Sony PS3, Xbox 360 and PC are to get some sort of motion sensing board. The board much like the Wii Balance Board will be used for Activision’s upcoming title Tony Hawk’s Adrenaline.
The game is still in its development stage but if the rumour were true, then it would be a great addition to the Tony Hawks game. If Sony did introduce a motion sensing board, then this will open the floodgates for a great number of titles, it could also help to increase the sales of the ever popular PS3.
Activision has noticed that there have been many rumours over the net about a new motion sensing board, and they feel that they need to respond to the rumours. They have said that they wish to dampen speculation; the strange thing is they have refused to confirm or deny the claims. Activision has told Eurogamer that “We regularly test all kinds of game concepts and pricing strategies using market research.” They also added “All of which are options whose outcomes are yet to be determined.”
Oh well looks like we are all still in the dark a bit, lets just watch this space.
Nintendo Wii vs iPhone: new Apple App Store gives edge
June 6, 2008 by Daniel

The Nintendo Wii has been beating the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 for a while now, but this lead may soon come to an end and not from Microsoft or Sony, Nintendo may lose it’s position to Apple and their new App Store that launches this Monday.
In the next-generation console war Nintendo has had a seat at the top of the three, but iPhone Cheats has posted an article and stated that Forbes mention “Apple may soon have the potential to topple the video game giant with the introduction of its new App Store”.
They go on to say “The new service to be rolled out by the Cupertino-based company will allow third-party developers to introduce their programs as downloadable software for the iPhone and iPod touch. Apple already started the ball rolling with the unveiling of its software developers kit (SDK) earlier this year, and showed some impressive demos of what it can do on their respective gadgets.
Nevertheless, Nintendo won’t be an easy foe to bring down. Despite the fact that the DS and its rival Apple products all share touch screen capabilities, the ability to download software into the iPhone wireless may become the winning edge for Apple in the end”.
The iPhone isn’t really a games console and could not be expected to beat the three next-gen games systems but if it can sell a lot more software and games then it could be one of the most played devices for games. Would you play lots of games on the iPhone?
Why play Guitar Hero when you have Aero Guitar on Nintendo Wii?
June 5, 2008 by Daniel

Here is a question for Nintendo Wii owners who love WiiWare, Why play Guitar Hero when you have Aero Guitar? This is a rhythm game from Yudo, a Yokohama-based developer.
Aero Guitar will be a WiiWare release and we are hearing that it’s set to launch in Japan this summer. As normal you will have to wait longer if you do not live in Japan, but we are hearing that Aero Guitar will be released in Europe and America for around 800 Wii Points (about $8).
If you are a Guitar Hero fan and own a Nintendo Wii then this game could be just what you like, the game will get you using the Wii controller to play along like your using a guitar. They also plan to add downloadable content like additional tracks that could be tied to a particular regional version of the game.
We also here that Yudo will not stop at just Aero Guitar when it comes to WiiWare content, they have other plans that include some sort of Music Community Service. If you add two words together like Community and Wii, it’s got to be good.

Finally Nintendo Wii overtakes Microsoft Xbox 360 install base
May 29, 2008 by Daniel
Filed under Gaming, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360

We all know that the Nintendo Wii is creating a massive Buzz in the gaming world and seems unstoppable in ruling the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3, while I game more on the Playstation 3, the Nintendo Wii is both amazing and gets its share of gaming time. Today we are hearing that the Nintendo Wii has finally overtaken the Microsoft Xbox 360 install base in the United States.
According to VGChartz, the lifetime sales of the Wii have passed the lifetime sales of the 360 and this is an amazing achievement considering the 360 has been around so long. With the Sony PS3 also catching the 360, it does look like the next generation Xbox is going to come third in this battle of the three next-gen games consoles.
VGChartz said the “Wii has officially passed 360 in the Americas in lifetime sales as of the week ending May 24th, 2008”, when you think it is a whole year extra the 360 had in the market place, it gives you an idea of how fast the Nintendo Wii has grown. In the Wii’s 79th week available it has reached 11.7M sales in the U.S., compared to the 360’s 11.5M in 131st week.
Can the Sony PS3 overtake the Xbox 360 in lifetime sales, considering it’s at 4.9M after it’s 80th week in the U.S.?
The Playstation 3 has had a much stronger uptake in Europe, but has grown much slower in the United States. With many more exclusives coming to the PS3 and with its upcoming Home platform, it will be interesting to see the results in another 12 months and we will be hear to share them with you.

Wireless Devices for Nintendo Wii: enhancements or hassle
May 27, 2008 by Daniel

When I first moved from a wired network at home to a wireless network, it was such an improvement that the power of wireless gave you. Now in 2008, its funny how I have moved away from wireless networks and towards a wired network via the home electrics, this is more secure and gives higher data speeds of 200MB plus.
These days it seems that “wireless” does not give all the freedom you hope it will, in some cases it can give you more hassle than enhancements. Recently I was looking at wireless options for the Nintendo Wii and found some interesting products that are going to come out soon and also some that are out already.
When I visited my local computer store, I found a couple of wireless senor bars for the Nintendo Wii and one was priced at £20 and the other at £10. Thinking, “lets get the best”, I went for the dearer of the two.
After trying the wireless sensor bar for a few weeks, I can now tell you that it does give more hassle than the wired version that comes free with the Nintendo Wii. This model will make a loud buzzing noise if left on for so many minutes and does not detected any Wii remote activity. Now this is great for saving battery life, but its not good if you are playing games such as Wii Fit. When you’re using the Wii balance board you do not always need the Wii remote, so the wireless senor bar keeps buzzing. Other devices include the Nintendo Wii Wireless Nunchuk Kit that aims to give you more movement, thanks to no wires between Nunchuk and Wii remote.
This year we will see many more wireless devices launched for the Wii, but how many of these will we really need? In most cases, the wired versions are good enough.
Playing Nintendo Wii on a 60GB Apple iPod
May 23, 2008 by Peter
Filed under Game Video & Trailers, Gaming

How would you like to be able to play your Nintendo Wii on your Apple iPod, well one guy has managed to get his Wii working on a 60GB iPod. I know that there are cries from so many people out there saying, why on earth would I want to play a Nintendo Wii which I can play on my big screen TV, just to play it on a 3 inch screen. So many people have moaned about this pointless exercise, some are even saying that they think that it is in fact a fake video.
Most people, who have seen this video, reckon than someone has just made a video of a Nintendo Wii menu and are just playing it through their iPod. If it is in fact real then well done to the guy who did it, however I have to stress that it is a pointless exercise. If you head over to Gametrailers, they have this video which has received to over 270 comments, most of them are not positive. One comment has said that the Wii is not even on, so how can he be playing it through his Apple iPod. Another comment has raised a good point, how can he be using the Wii Remote when there is not an IR sensor in sight.
What I would like to say is, for this to work you would have to do some serious modifications on both the Nintendo Wii and the Apple iPod, there would also have to be a huge amount of cables to get this to work, and I can’t see any in this video.
So you choose for yourself, real or fake?
