The release of the Nikon D7100 has shown one thing, they are slowly pulling away from Canon, as they seem to be late to the party once again with an answer. Having said that, there will be Canon fans who believe their brand of choice is producing much better DSLR cameras of late.

It’s now been 3 months since the release of the D7100, and the camera has scored reasonable well in reviews, but now that you have had time with your new Nikon, are you just as happy, or is there room for improvement?

Below we have a selection of Nikon D7100 reviews for you, and we believe we have embedded some of the best most recent video reviews. We already know there have been issues with some Sigma lenses, as well as buffer capacity problems, but what else has been bugging you?

The first video points out that while the D7100 is a more than capable camera, it’s never going to stand out as much as it should because of some missing capabilities. And while the image quality is not as good as we would have hoped, it will be much tougher for you to decide whether to buy this model or the cheaper D5200

In the second review they go over some of the Nikon D7100 features compared to the D7000. Again they make a note that the sensor is similar to that of the D5200, making it a tough choice when buying the two, because you have to see if those added features of the more expensive camera are needed.

However, in the final video review they believe that the D7100 is the best Nikon DSLR on the market in terms of how much it costs for the features you get. The review will show you full image and crop results in the hope of persuading you that you need to make this your next DSLR purchase.

Are you putting off your DSLR purchase until you see if the Canon 70D will release soon?

There are 17 new Nikon Coolpix cameras now available in India, all come at a pretty reasonable price, but there is one issue you will face, and that is what color will you choose as there are 69 choices. There really is a camera for most needs with these new releases from the A, P, S, L and AW series.

Firstly, there’s the Nikon Coolpix A, complete with a DX-format CMOS sensor, which offers almost the same capabilities as a DSLR but in a smaller body. Then we have the two Coolpix P-series models, the P520 and P330, the former has a high-powered zoom lens up to 42x optical and the latter has a 12.2-million pixels sensor with high sensitivities.

There are 9 new models in the Coolpix S Series, these are the S31, S2700, S3400, S3500, S4400, S5200, S6500 and finally the S9400 and S9500. These all have some great features, but it is the addition of GPS and WiFi that will appeal to many people, as it makes it far easier to share your images with social networking sites.

The Coolpix L-Series consists of four models, the L27, L28, L320 and the L820 and offers a variety of features, with auto shooting and high optical zoo just two of the standout features.

Finally, there’s the Coolpix AW Series, although there is just one new model for the Indian market. The AW110 is a robust camera, as it’s both waterproof and dustproof, making ideal fir the Indian climate.

These new Nikon cameras in India vary in price, but they are not overpriced as some DSLR models, such as the D7100. A complete list of these prices can be found here. I’d just like to point out that looking at the reveal of these new cameras, there’s one thing that drew my attention in the image from the source, can you guess what?

Over the years there have been many occasions where a Nikon camera owner had their lens stolen, and then found its way onto an online auction site. This highlights just how behind cameras are when it comes to security features, unlike smartphones.

However, things could be about to change if we are to take a recent Nikon patent seriously, as there could soon be a Nikon lens security crackdown, but as you would imagine there has been a mixed reaction to this news already. The patent would mean the user would need to enter an authentication code so the body and lens were able to function with each other.

If we are to read this patent right, you would need to set a password up, so if your lens were stolen it would not be able to be used with another camera. We can clearly see why Nikon would want to do such a thing, but it can also raise issues as well.

There is a concern that this could put an end to third-party lenses such as Sigma, as they may not have the ability to use the rumored security feature. There will be some of you who would say this was the reason why Nikon was going to introduce such a feature, but surely this is not the case?

Nikon could give you the option to turn the security feature off, just as you can with your smartphone. Nikon Rumors said they are surprised another camera manufacturer has not come up with this feature before, so shows that it’s needed. Their readers have a mixed reaction on this patent, with some people saying this could be another thing to go wrong. While another reader believes Nikon should resolve the D600 and D800 issues before they think about these crazy ideas.

Where do you stand on this Nikon lens patent?

It’s been almost a month since the release of the Nikon D7100, and in that short amount of time the response in regards to the new DSLR has been astonishing, so much so that stock levels were very low in its first few days of release. Like we said the camera has proven very popular and is a worthy update to the D7000.

However, things are not all positive, as there have been several Nikon D7100 problems, such as older Sigma lenses not being supported, to buffer capacity issues. Now there’s another to add to the list, and this time it’s due to the fact that you are unable to change the aperture while you’re in video mode.

The problem is said to be rather annoying, which you can see for yourself in the video supplied above. When you put the D7100 into video mode and then set it to the Live View, you are unable to change the aperture. When the settings were on manual, the user is able to make changes to the shutter speed and the ISO, but the moment it came to f-stop, the thing never worked.

Most people will not come across this issue, as they tend not to use a camera like the Nikon D7100 where it would require you to change its aperture while in video mode. However, it’s still an issue because it’s a feature that you would expect to have.

Having said that, we should not worry too much, as we expect the first Nikon D7100 firmware update to rectify this issue, although we have no idea how long we would have to wait for the update. Then again, we have seen in the past that such firmware updates can take several months, unless even more issues are found, which would then mean Nikon would have to rush out a new firmware version.

Sales of the Nikon D7100 have been very impressive, and no doubt several owners will be looking to get their hands on some accessories to go with this new DSLR. As you would imagine Nikon already has a selection of D7100 accessories on their official website, but as yet there is not a lot of choice for third-party options – or is there?

We say this because it’s obvious Nikon’s latest DSLR will be able to use accessories for the D7000, but that’s not all. We say this because we have learned that the Nikon D7100 fits into the D600 underwater housing, allowing you to start taking some great shots in the water.

In a recent review they tried the D7100 in the D7000 underwater housing, but because some of the controls are in different positions some of the functionality will be lost, which is why they went for the D600 housing instead.

The Nauticam D600 housing is an almost perfect fit for the D7100, so you are able to use the aperture/shutter speed dials, and we’re told the shutter works perfectly as well. While this is okay for now, it doesn’t beat a dedicated solution, but we’re sure one will be released soon. It has been suggested that Ikelite will likely release the first Nikon D7100 underwater housing, with Aquatica and other brands to follow.

Check out the image in the review, this was taken using the casing we have been discussing and while the sample photo looks great, we’d love to know if you have used your D7100 underwater and produced even better images?

We would also like to know if you have had any issues with your new Nikon DSLR, as some owners have complained about a buffer capacity issue, but there are certain to be more problems?

Back in November of last year we were told Nikon were to update their D600 and D800 DSLR cameras, where they were to resolve the issue with the aperture bug for Live View for the former and the focus priority bug on the latter. They were also going to fix the D600 cropped HDMI output issue on the D600.

We are now in April 2013 and owners of both cameras had almost given up waiting, but we can now tell you that the Nikon D600 firmware update has now been made available, along with the D800 update as well. These upgrades have far more to offer than we first assumed, so this surely has been worth the wait?

The Nikon D600 C:1.01 firmware update contains 6 new modifications, which includes, frame output size going from 95 percent to 100 percent, improvements to the shutter release when the button is pressed, and much more, which can be viewed below.

As for the D800 A:1.01 / B:1.02 firmware update, there are more improvements, 8 in fact. The D800 will now support the AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR, along with the D600 as well, and the memory card issue where movies would often stop recording has now been resolved. See all 8 modifications below.

You’ll notice from the list of Nikon D800 improvements that the Live View aperture bug has not been fixed, which is certain to anger those of you who found this to be an issue. While these updates are not huge, they are a significant step in repairing Nikon’s reputation, although the release of the D7100 has also helped this cause.

Having said that, the Nikon D7100 has its own issues, such as with its buffer capacity and lack of support for older Sigma lenses.

Thanks to Nikon Rumors.

The long-awaited Nikon D7100 has been available to you and I for a little over two weeks now and early sales figures seemed to be pretty good, as there had been several stock issues the moment this latest DSLR went on sale. Thankfully retailers have finally managed to get on top of these early problems, which is more than we can say from one or two of the cameras features.

It seems as though several owners have issues with the Nikon D7100 buffer capacity, because it does not take long before being filled. Nikon will not go out of their way to share this information with you, unless you dig into the full specs, although a Forum member has felt the need to share this information with you, as they feel it’s an important factor in your buying decision.

The Nikonites Forum member says, “The D7100 frame buffer is 6 lossless-compressed 14-bit NEFs, or 7 lossless compressed 12-bit NEFs.” You’ll agree with him about this being a bit of a concern, especially when you consider the D7100 is said to be a birding camera.

What confuses other members of the Forum is the fact the D7100 has a much improved sensor than its predecessor, the D7000, so why have they stuck with the same buffer size? If you have yet to come across this issue, then look out for a bird in flight and start shooting, you will get through those frames in less than two seconds. However, if you select a larger image those frames will be used up in less than one second. You can see this issue in action in the video embedded below.

There are many more cases like this, which are explained in the Forum, which you can see HERE, but we’d love to know if you have experienced these buffer issues with the Nikon D7100? There have also been several issues with older Sigma lenses not being compatible, again have you noticed this problem?

Several consumers have decided to head back to Nikon in order to see what all the fuss was about with the D7100, and for the most part, many of them seem very happy with their purchase. However, as ever there are always going to be issues, and some of them are found when using a third-party lens, such as Sigma.

We have been looking over the forums, and it seems as though one user has an issue with the Sigma lens on his Nikon D7100, and it wasn’t long before others started joining in the conversation. The lens in question is an old Sigma Apo 400mm f/5.6 telephoto, although it’s said to be in superb condition.

After setting up the lens to work correctly with the D7100, it didn’t take long to realize something was wrong, it seems as though to the right there is just one focus point. The user spent a while trying to shift it to another area, but with no luck, and so has given up trying to work with a lens he is unable to use correctly.

Remember, this is just a lens focus problem with an old Sigma lens on the Nikon D7100, and so you should have no worries with a new model. There have been several responses in order to correct this issue, such as making sure the Focus Selector Dial is unlocked first.

However, it seems that other Sigma lenses have issues as well, because they are too old for a software update to support the D7100. The lenses in question are the 135-400 and a 105 macro. Nikon has been contacted about this issue and as always they would advise against using third-party lenses, but would you expect anything less?

It seems the Nikon D7100 is unable to support several Sigma lenses, more details can be found by visiting the Photo.net Nikon Forum.

The Nikon D7100 has been grabbing a lot of attention of late because consumers have been waiting what seemed like a lifetime to them for the D7000 successor. No doubt there will be those of you wondering if they should ditch their old model in favor of the new one, or if they are in the market for a completely new DSLR.

So what does the D7100 have to offer? Below we have three Nikon D7100 review videos for you to look over, which not only looks at some test results, but also overall impressions as well. Before that we thought we would remind you how the D7100 compares to the Canon 7D along with several stock issues Nikon’s latest camera suffered in its first few days going on sale.

In the first Nikon D7100 review and test results video it takes a close look at the performance of some of the key features associated with cameras, such as low light high ISO, sharpness, dynamic range, video and so much more.

The second video looks at the features of the D7100 when compared to its predecessor. Also in the video it’s explained how some of the features from high-end DSLR models have made their way to this cheaper camera, which is something many camera makers have started to do.

We have saved the best D7100 video review to last, well if you like a bit of comedy? This is firstly an unboxing video, which looks at all the accessories and paperwork that comes with the new Nikon camera. While this is not the most in-depth review, you cannot deny how interesting the reviewer comes across.

These are just three Nikon D7100 video reviews to help make up your mind if it’s worth purchasing or not, so will you be getting yourself one now?

The Nikon D7100 has been on the market for several days and even though it has proved a tough camera to get hold of, there’s no denying how popular it already is, but then again we already knew this was going to be the case long before the new DSLR was released.

We’ve already looked at how the D7100 compares to the D300, D600 and the D800, as well as the D5200. However, we now thought we would see how the Nikon D7100 compares to the Canon 7D and so looked for a comparison video, even though we would much rather see the camera pitted again the 70D instead, although this could happen within the next month or so.

In the video review above you get to see the hardware and functionality of the D7100 after its unboxing and a little later you’ll see just how it compares side-by-side against the 7D. In the review you get to see some low-light testing, dynamic range testing, along with a detailed look at the new crop mode feature.

There has been some reaction on YouTube stating that the video is a little biased towards one camera, see if you can guess which one? We’ve heard from several D7000 users who have said that they do not see any reason to upgrade to the D7100 because the advantages are not that important to most users, but would you agree and do you believe that the 7D is a far better choice?
