Last week Nikon unveiled their new flagship DSLR the D4 after numerous leaks about the shooter had surfaced on the net. Today we can tell you how the Nikon D4 specs allow for wireless control via an iOS device.

To recap the new D4 comes equipped with the company’s new FX-format CMOS image sensor along with the processing engine that has been optimized for DSLR cameras. It will be able to handle a big range of lighting conditions with its 16.2 megapixel sensor, and the ISO range from 50 up to ISO 204800.

The D4 will write your images quicker than before with its compatibility with high speed UDMA 7 memory cards, and the new high speed XQD memory cards. But another feature adds to an already great package is the ability to control the D4 wirelessly using an iPhone or an iPad according to Redmond Pie.

Currently full details of this feature have yet to be revealed, but it looks like you won’t need to use the Nikon App Store application. Instead you may be able to take control of the camera by using Mobile Safari on the unit.

Nikon’s new DSLR also has a wireless adaptor the WT-5, so the remote control could be used with that attachment. Using the wireless control the user can see what the camera is looking at, focus in with just a simple tap. Users can also take control some of the main features of the device such as altering the white balance and the ISO settings.

Below you can see a demo video of the feature in action with the Nikon D4 becoming available next month in the US and UK priced at $5,999.95 and £4,799.99.

Yesterday we gave you the news that a possible release date and price of the Nikon D4 had been leaked on the internet. Now today we can tell you that the Nikon D4 release date gets all official along with the many new features Nikon’s flagship DSLR has.

Compared to the Nikon D3s the D4 has over 45 new or improved features that includes a newly developed 16.2 million pixel FX format sensor. According to TechRadar the new camera has the latest EXPEED 3 image processing engine, which allows for a really fast shooting speed.

Nikons new camera is focusing on the professional photographer in sports or news coverage, and is faster than any other Nikon DSLR at 11fps. Sensitivity range is between 100 and 128000 ISO, but can be expanded down to an equivalent of ISO 50 or up to ISO 204,800.

The D4 has full HD video capture available at either 30p, 24p, 25p, or increased to 60p for slow motion shoots at 720p HD. Video clips can be recorded for up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds at a time. You can now record videos on both FX and DX based formats along with native full HD. This means the same lens can be used for the same scene with varying crop factors.

There is also an audio output for the connection of external headphones. There are two card slots on the D4 with one for the new XQD memory card format, and the other the high speed UDMA 7 CF format. Nikon has improved the connectivity with wireless LAN support via the new WT-5 wireless transmitter. A first for Nikon is the wired LAN connection that is built-in to the camera body.

Round the back you will find the new 3.2-inch wide angle LCD display, which features automatic brightness control. Users will also be able playback time lapse movies without the need of a PC. The Nikon D4 has a UK release date of February 16th and priced at £4,799.99, while in the US it is set to release the same month at $5,999.95. Head over to the official Nikon D4 website for more information.

Do you own a DSLR?

Whenever a new Nikon DSLR is in the pipeline there is always a lot of interest from professionals and amateurs alike. Today we have news of a possible Nikon D4 release date and price revealed following a leak.

There have been rumors circulating for a while now suggesting that the D4 could be set to be unveiled this coming Friday in Hong Kong. Now according to a report, a leaked document that was originally spotted by Nikon Rumors suggests that the new camera will be available sometime in February, but an exact date wasn’t given. It’s not cheap though as the recommended retail price is a hefty $6000.

This will place the D4 between both the D3x and D3s models, which means the camera has some pretty high specifications. It is thought to come using a 16.2 megapixel full frame sensor that has a ten frames per second shooting speed, and an ISO range of 100 to 102,400. Video wise the D4 has full HD 1080p recording up to 30 frames per second, with H264 B frame compression as well.

For the viewfinder you will get the much sought after pentaprism design that covers 100 percent of the shooting target, and you can also use 51 separate points of autofocus. There are also illuminated buttons and face detection.

If you are not interested in getting the complete camera there is always the Nikkor AF-s 85mm f/1.8G lens to splash your cash on, which is believed to cost around $500 on its own. At this sort of money the camera is more for the professional photographer, or the rich.
