Since the start of the year we have heard news of new and upcoming Nikon DSLR cameras, with firstly the release of the D4 that has been followed by speculation of the imminent release of the D800. Now we can tell you that Nikon updates its Coolpix range with something for everyone.

The company has upgraded its full lineup of easy to use Coolpix cameras, with a total of nine new models arriving. Heading the range is the Nikon Coolpix P510 with its 42X optical zoom and the Coolpix P310 that revels in low light conditions according to PC World.

With the Coolpix P510 that replaces the P500 you get the most optical zoom that really can be achieved with a fixed lens shooter. Nikon says the new camera has great macro capabilities with a minimum focus distance of only 0.4-inch. There is also a BSI CMOS sensor that is now 16 megapixels up from 12. The P510 also adds GPS with video capture capable of 1080p, and is capable of 5 shots per second at full resolution. This is due to hit the shelves this month priced at $430.

If you want something a little smaller the P310 that replaces the P300 still has the F1.8 aperture, which is ideal for low light conditions. The zoom range remains unchanged at 4.2X that will be ideal for portrait images and wide angle scenes. The P310 also includes a higher resolution BSI CMOS senor with 16 megapixels.

There is now on board tools for editing video clips that can be taken at 1080p/30-fps. The Coolpix P310 is due to arrive in March for $330, which is around $100 cheaper than the Canon PowerShot S100 rival. Replacing the Coolpix S9100 is the S9300 that features an 18X optical zoom and a higher rated 16 megapixel sensor. It also now has a GPS feature that allows for displaying shots by location, and is expected this month for $350.

The Coolpix S6300 comes packing a 10X optical zoom and is capable of 1080p video capture and has some of the scene modes and filters of the S9300, which is also due this month for $200.

It is being described by Nikon as a family camera, and the Coolpix S30 should withstand many things a young child can through at it. Rated at waterproof down to 9.8 feet and drop proof from 2.6 feet the camera still comes packing a 3X optical zoom and a 10 megapixel CCD sensor. Priced at $120 and arriving this month the shooter could indeed prove popular with young families.

Nikon is claiming that its best selling camera last year was the Coolpix L120 that is being replaced by the L810. It offers a 26X ultra wide angle lens with a higher 16 megapixel CCD sensor. Other changes include a new optical stabilization system and a secondary zoom control situated on the lens barrel. It can also be powered by four AA batteries, and due this month priced at $280.

The company is also offering three sub $200 shooters and starts with the S4300 that has a 16 megapixel sensor and 720p video capture for only $170 from this month. The Coolpix S3300 is basically the same camera but without the touchscreen and is priced at $140.

Next there is the new Coolpix L26 that is powered by two AA batteries and still has a 16 megapixel sensor with 5X optical zoom, and can take 720p video for only $120. It certainly seems that Nikon is trying to provide something for everyone and all budgets. Do you have a Nikon Coolpix camera?

If you have been looking to purchase the Nikon Coolpix P300 this article is perfect for you, here we will pull in all of the relevant information from multiple sources, hopefully it will help you decide whether this digital camera is the right one for you.

The Coolpix P300 is an impressive piece of kit, the first thing you will notice is its compact size, it measures in at 58.3 x 103 x 32mm and weighs 189 grams, inside you get a 12 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 24-100mm lens, an ISO range of 160-3200, 1080p HD video capture, stereo sound capture, SD, SDHC and SDXC memory card support, a 3-inch LCD, 4.2x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom, you can see the official specs here.

As for features there is four-way VR image stabilization, motion detection, advanced noise reduction and exposure bracketing, there are also a few neat features which allow you to edit your stills (in-camera), you can see an overview of the most impressive features here.

Recently DPReview got some hands-on time with the Coolpix P300, in their article they take an in-depth look at the camera’s physical design, if you want to see their fully detailed preview check out this link, we will summarize some of the main points raised below.

Overall DPReview seem very pleased with the P300, they were particularly impressed with its looks, feel, size, build quality and robust buttons and dials, also it fits in the pocket nicely and has a thin rubber strip on the front, this make it easier to use single-handed without worrying about it being dropped. Also the dedicated video capture button is a nice touch

DPReview did state that there were a few problems with the camera’s control and aperture settings, also it would be nice if there was an option to add an external mic.

The Nikon Coolpix P300 has a MSRP of $329.95, will you buy this model?

There is a lot of choice out there these days when it comes to digital cameras. All of the major camera manufactures have a vast range of equipment available for all budgets and needs. Nikon have always been regarded as one of the top companies producing quality DSLR’s, but are also producing some good compact digital cameras.

TechReview Source have recently tested the Nikon Coolpix S8100, and found the smart looking compact can easily be slipped into a purse or pocket. Offered in a variety of colors, the 12.1-megapixel camera has an advanced CMOS sensor and a 10x optical zoom. Round the back you will find a 3-inch LCD display with 921,000-pixel resolution.

One thing that could be cause for concern is the battery, it is only rated for 210 shots and there is no battery indicator on the LCD display. This could prove to be a problem for some owners. Media storage that is supported by the Nikon is SD/SDHC/SDXC cards. Actual image quality with the Coolpix was very good, and returned above average results.

Cnet have also been testing the Nikon Coolpix S8100, but they found the camera to have only average shooting performance, with its design the only thing to be above average. The cameras sensor does allow for better low-light images compared to the model it replaced. For the price level which is around the $250 mark, the S8100 was found to be one of the better compact cameras’ to be tested.

Finding the right digital camera for you is a tough job, one that takes a lot of research. There are so many factors that you have to take into consideration, but for most they just want a compact point and shoot camera, and the Nikon Coolpix S205 could be it. The camera comes in a range of colors, but red has been one of the more popular ones.

The camera is not going to win any medals for taking the best pictures, but what it does offer is decent photo quality that matches most peoples budgets. 12-megapixels seems to be the norm these days, but it is the 4x optical zoom that lets it down – although this will be more than enough for those instant memorable moments.

According to Starred Reviews when the optical is combined with the digital zoom you get an equivalent of 16x; yes this does sound good and will work during the day outside, but take the camera inside or take a night shot and things go south. Its not all bad though, you just have to remember what you are buying the Nikon Coolpix S205 for.

The camera has specs that defy its price along with a selection shooting modes. There is a 2.7-inch display, 50MB built-in memory, Fill-In Flash, Red-Eye Reduction, and a range of Image Editing Features. You have to ask yourself if this camera is for you or not, yes it has a host of great features and only a small price tag – but will it do this things you want? I do know one thing, if you are looking for a camera with more features and improved image quality, then take a look at these three new Nikon Coolpix models.

Some more new cameras have been announced with Nikon adding three new models to its Coolpix range. All three will support at least 720P HD video, and will be available this fall.

Christina Warren of Mashable is reporting that the new Nikon lineup will be focusing on quality instead of quantity, with better lens sensors preferred in place of a megapixel number.

The Coolpix S80 is a small touchscreen pocket camera with 14.1 megapixels. It has a 5x optical zoom and includes a HDMI-out for playback on a HDTV. This will be available for around $329.95.

The Coolpix P7000 is aimed at the top end of the compact market and features a wide angle lens with a 7.1x zoom. It has a number of automatic and manual settings and an ISO up to 6400, for great quality photos even in low light. This model will retail around $499.95.

Last but not least is the Coolpix S8100 which has a 12.1 megapixel backside illumination CMOS sensor. The camera is fast with 10fps and can record 1080p HD video, and will offer great pictures in really low light, with a purchase price of around $299.95.

We have just learned from Engadget that Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the new Nikon CoolPix P100. This camera allows you to shot at high-speed, while giving you a huge focal range, something that is not seen that much with a compact ‘bridge-style’ digicam.

The Nikon CoolPix P100 is a 12.1-megapixel digital camera and allows the user to take 10 full-resolution images-per-second, and it does not matter if the subject image is close or far away. Amazon explains that the camera can shoot up to 120 fps at 1.1MP, great for taking those fast moving shots.

Nikon have worked very hard on the technology used in the P100, this includes the amazing backside illumination, and this allows the sensor in the camera to see much more than a standard CMOS sensor.

You can pr-order your Nikon CoolPix P100 now from Amazon for just $399.95, get all the information from the link above. This camera is ideal for those who do not have the money or find the Nikon D3000 to difficult to use, which we discussed in a recent post.
