Google looks to be making a big push this year with its TV platform, we have already had news that future sets with the service will feature the OnLive gaming experience built-in. They are also expanding into regions such as China with new products like the Lenovo set. Now there is talk that Google will take on any future Apple TV device with a Nexus TV.

Sources are claiming that Google will team up with LG to develop a Google TV set, which will be in a similar way it has with smartphones such as the Galaxy Nexus, and the Nexus One before it. A report on Electronista is reporting that the device would run the latest version of the Android based interface.

Currently both Google and LG have refused to comment on the speculation, and follows news last month about the upcoming Nexus Tablet. There has been many TV manufacturers commit to Google TV at the recent CES show in Las Vegas, but many of the devices won’t be ready for a few months yet.

Any such Nexus TV may be first revealed at the Google I/O event in June, and is where the search engine giant often showcases new OS versions. So far all Google TVs have all used the standard interface, with just a few apps to separate them, so having a Nexus TV may be unusual.

If there is to be an official Google TV set it could well go up against the rumored device that Apple are said to be working on, which is thought to have the likes of the Siri feature built-in. Do you think there will be a demand for a Nexus TV?
