The updated news app now provides users with even more content than before, including blogs.

As noted over on the itunes.apple.com website, the updated version also brings videos and slide shows that are not only located within the article themselves, but also in the new Photos and Videos sections. The navigation has also been improved, enabling iPhone 4 users to swipe between articles.

The 3.0 update has also added a new Favorites section to the app, which helps users bookmark blogs and sections as well as save specific articles, and breaking news alerts. The breaking news alerts enables users to keep on top of major news events, even when they have the app turned off.

Users can either enjoy the New York Times app’s Top News section for free, or subscribe for the ability to unlock all the sections of the application. The NYTimes application is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, but does require your device to be running iOS 3.0 or later.
