The 2011 Computex computer expo only kicked off a couple of days ago, and ASUS has already managed to introduce a number of new products including the PadFone, the ROG G53SX gaming notebook, the ASUS Eee PC X101 notebook and most recently, the ASUS Eee PC 1025C netbook.

According to a recent article over on the techinstyle.tv website, the ASUS Eee PC 1025C will ship with the brand new Intel Cedar Trail Atom processor, which is based on 32nm process technology. The CPU has full support for Blu-ray 2.0, higher clock speeds, full support for DirectX 10.1 and HD decoding.

The ASUS Eee PC 1025C also comes with a 10.1-inch display with a 1024 x 600 resolution, a 0.3-megapixel camera and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, HDMI, audio jacks, a card reader and USB 2.0. As Peter Cartwright at netbooknews.com notes, it also features up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 500GB hard drive.

There are in fact two models available: the ASUS Eee PC 1025C and the 1025CE. The 1025CE is said to be higher end, with a metal finish as opposed to the plastic finish on the C. According to lilliputing.com, the 1025C will be available in black, gray, white, brown, pink, blue and red.

Meanwhile, the ASUS Eee PC 1025CE will be available in pink, blue and purple. The 1025C is priced up at $249, while the higher end 1025CE has been priced up at $279. Both models should be available later in the year. Do you like the sound of the ASUS Eee PC 1025 netbook?

We have some exciting news now for all the Toshiba fans out there who are possibly thinking about updating their current netbooks. The company has just unveiled two new netbooks – the NB500 and the NB520, which comes with two 2-watt Harman Kardon speakers for superior sound quality.

As reported by Tim Stevens over at engadget.com, the NB520 features an Atom N550 processor, a 250GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 and 2GB of DDR3 memory. The battery on the NB520 will give users around 10 hours battery life.

The NB520 also comes with a Sleep and Music feature, which allows users to plug their MP3 player into the netbook and listen to all their favorite tunes through the speakers without turning the PC on. The other model recently unveiled by Toshiba is the slim mini NB500.

The NB500 is ideal for people who prefer slimmer, more mobile devices and offers pretty much the same specs as the NB520, apart from without the sound system and an Intel Atom N455 processor instead of an N550. Both models will be shipping in the first quarter of next year.

You can read more about the NB520 and NB500 netbooks by visiting engadget.com. Do you like the sound of either of these netbooks?

If you were to ask a number of people which Lenovo IdeaPad do they believe has the best design, I bet they would say the U260. That title used to belong to the U110, but the new laptop/netbook now has some competition. The reason for this is its magnesium-aluminum alloy and leather-like finish.

Joanna Stern from Engadget has had some hands-on time with the device, and looks to have been impressed with what she saw. The laptop has a 12.5-inch display and a build quality that feels as though Apple has made it. The finish looks to be solid, something that is important to Lenovo.

There are a number of models, one of which will come with a glass trackpad, but the review unit that Engadget had was not one of them. For more images of the Lenovo IdeaPad U260 click here; Engadget will have an in-depth review of the device shortly.

Joel Durham Jr from PC World says that the U260 has the power of a laptop, but only weighs as much as a netbook. The specs are as follows, Core i3-380UM processor and a massive 4GB of RAM, which should be more than enough for your computing needs.

Do you like the idea of sacrificing size but not performance?

Back in July last year, Jamie Pert brought you a review on Lenovo’s S10-2 IdeaPad, which he stated was the cheaper, slimmer and improved version of the original S10 netbook.

Now we have a review from Engadget, on Lenovo’s ultra-portable known as the ThinkPad Edge 11. This model comes with a starting price of $449 for an AMD version, but if you want the one that is fitted with a Core i3 U380 ULV processor it will cost $549.

The Edge 11 weighs in at 3.3-pounds and has a thickness of 1.1-inches, you also get a 11.6-inch, chiclet style keyboard and a touchpad, which is multi-touch capable. It comes equipped with a spacious 250GB hard drive and 2GB of RAM.

You can read Joanna Stern’s full review via engadget.com. If you’re an existing Lenovo customer, do you think you’ll purchase a ThinkPad Edge 11?

A laptop for less than $100 has been on the cards for some time now, but we can now tell you that the $99 Cherrypal Africa mini-netbook has now hit...

A laptop for less than $100 has been on the cards for some time now, but we can now tell you that the $99 Cherrypal Africa mini-netbook has now hit the market. This small device is designed for poor people in not so fortunate regions, such as parts of Africa.

We need to inform you of the specs of this cheap netbook, but do not expect anything special. This 7-inch device comes with a 400-MHz processor, just 256 MB of RAM and 2GB of flash memory. The netbook will come with a choice of Windows or Linux OS.

Developing nations are sure to love the Cherrypal Africa, although there are still millions of Americans who cannot afford a standard laptop, making this the ideal solution for them. This is not the first cheap laptop from the company; in July 2008 they offered the Impulse NPX-9000 for just $139.

According to PC World, this was dubbed the “world’s cheapest laptop, although you had to purchase more than 100 units to get them at that price. The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) was considered to be the best option for those who could not afford a portable computer device. The idea was for every one of these laptops sold, another would be shipped to a developing country.

We know that most of you will not want to purchase the Cherrypal Africa, but just think how one of these could change the life of someone less fortunate than you.
