Whenever a game is released there tend to be a few “teething problems”, however most of the time developers listen to consumer feedback and roll out patches to fix known issues – we are hearing that a recent patch which was rolled out for NCAA Football 12 on both PS3 and Xbox 360, however it looks like it has broken more than it fixed.

According to this recent article posted over at JoyStiq the patch “broke or hampered” key features of the game, you can read a thread over at the EA forums here where many people are reporting issues which they have encountered – the most common problem seems to be a “Transfer Failed” error message which shows up frequently after an online game (see below).

As you can imagine people are getting a bit annoyed by the situation, on September 7th EA announced that they had been working on the problem and title update #2 would patch this, two days later a patch was rolled out over Xbox Live and PSN, but the problem still exists. You can see a full changelog of what this patch brings here, below is what EA had to say about the main “Transfer Failed” issue.

Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.

This suggests that there may be more reasons for the “Transfer Failed” issue than EA first thought, you should follow the official EA Sports NCAA Football Twitter page for all of the latest updates on the situation – there has been nothing of significance lately, perhaps title update #3 is being worked on, we will keep you posted if and when we hear more on the situation.

Have you experienced the “Transfer Failed” issue, if so did the recent patch resolve the problem for you? If not, did it at least improve things slightly? Let us know in the comments section below.

With just one day to go until the release of NCAA Football 12 we feel obliged to offer you news of a recent early review of the game. Although there are many aspects of the game that still need to be played, we were a little shocked that the reviewer was disappointed with the game – although they did say that it offered great value for money. Not certain if EA Sports was going for value rather than excitement?

During the run up to this release there have been a few issues with the game, but most of these are now behind the developer. EA Sports already know of a few problems with the game, so felt compelled to offer details of the games first patch. This is not the first time that a patch will be made available on a games release, as it is considered the easiest and cheapest option – rather that than delay the launch of the game itself.

Pastapadre has spent a few days with NCAA Football 12 now and was surprised that there were no extras to make the game stand out over last years version. However, where it matters most is with the gameplay experience, and EA Sports has managed to add something fresh. The field is now more wide-open, and this is all thanks to the new tackling animation system, which also helped improved the running of the game as well.

Defense seems to be the weak spot of the game, and you can see this with how easy it is dropping the ball between passes. It seems that the ball is very lose in this game, which will no doubt become frustrating for players. As with previous NCAA Football games it all comes down to the CPU, as it loves to take up a lot of it. It is to be hoped that the upcoming patch might be able to rectify this – or a future one?

Overall there are not a great number of faults with the game, but there does not seem to be that magic with this release, as there are with other games due to be released this year. Now we cannot agree that the game is bland as Pastapadre suggests, only time will tell. One has to wonder if EA Games is starting to lose their magic a little, as NCAA Football 12 has the makings of a great game; instead all we seem to have is a half-hearted effort.

NCAA Football 12 has already been announced and now EA has set the released date, the football title will be arriving in stores July 8 on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, iOS and for the first time since 1999, the PC.

As well as this, EA are putting on a vote for fans of the series which will enable them to choose – from four candidates, who will be on the cover of the upcoming title. Readers of Joystiq’s article say that it will most likely be a contest of whichever candidate comes from the biggest school and has the most backing from his state, however the freedom to choose is always welcome in our eyes.

The candidates that could be on this years cover are Demarco Murray of Oklahoma, Mark Ingram of Alabama, Nick Fairley of Auburn, and Jake Locker of Washington. The voting for the contest will be held on EA’s facebook page, so go there to submit your vote.

Fans will be pleased to be able to vote for their cover star and I’m sure the player-candidates will too, seeing as they will be pushed into the limelight and maybe even be recognized by some of the bigger players in the game in the NFL. Who gets the prize of being on the front cover is your decision however, who will you vote for and why?
