According to pastapadre over on the pastapadre.com website, the new game – titled NBA Jam: On Fire Edition – will be coming to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade sometime in the fall. One of the main features in the upcoming game is the new AI system.

The AI system featured in the upcoming NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is the same one that’s used in the Fight Night boxing franchise. The Real AI system learns all your gameplay techniques and uses them against you. Players can also look forward to a couple of new modes.

The first is JAM Arena, which enables gamers to play solo or team up with friends and compete in dynamic online competitions. The other is Road Trip, an online co-operative campaign that allows players to team up with mates and compete in a series of challenges.

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition also sees the return of both Tag Mode and Team Fire. Players can also look forward to other features such as online roster updates and unlockable characters. Will you be downloading the NBA Jam: On Fire Edition game?

Although we provided our readers with a few details for the upcoming Fight Night Champion app, we didn’t really have much to give them on the NBA Jam game. However, it now looks as though a bit more information has surfaced online, including a teaser trailer.

According to pastapadre over on the pastapadre.com website, the NBA Jam game – which they suspect will be released sometime in April to coincide with the NBA Playoffs – will feature two different control options – the standard on-screen selection and gesture-based.

The game – which features the same graphical style as the console versions – will include both Classic Campaign and Play Now modes, Tim Kitzrow’s commentary and plenty of unlockable items. As Eli Hodapp from toucharcade.com reports, the game will include all 30 NBA teams.

It’s even been suggested that the iOS app will feature a big head mode. Are you looking forward to playing the NBA Jam iOS app?

NBA Elite has always been situationally placed next to the NBA season, but with the delays and the reported lost of over 1 million sales due to the delay, NBA Jam sets to fill that hole left by EA.

Jam is set to cost $50, the same as the Wii version of the classic and will be released on November 17. Game modes consist of classic 2-on-2 online, plus additional game modes with a title update sometime in December.

There’s no point in hiding the fact that we think EA are only releasing this game to fill the empty void left by NBA Elite 11, but is it enough to keep you satisfied until we get more word on EA’s basketball holiday game?

They will be teaming up with all ready confirmed Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. An ESPN interview with creative director Trey Smith provides some additional info about the nature of the game’s “boss fights” – one-on-one matches with these legendary players. For example, Magic Johnson can now perform, well, magic, teleporting around the court. “You think he’s cheating, but that’s a boss battle,” Smith said. Players will have to watch for patterns, “And then, it’s all about executing.”

This will be such a big boost to get star names such as Dennis Rodman along with Magic Johnson. NBA Jam is shaping up to be, dare we say, one of the best basketball games out there.

So far it looks as if this game is only being launched on the Nintendo Wii, I would imagine that it will probably be available at Apple’s App Store at some point, especially with the recent success of Madden NFL 10 for iPhone.

Up until now we have been unsure of a release date, however we are now hearing that the game will launch in December 2010, no exact release date has been specified yet.

As you would expect with a Wii release it looks as if the game aims to deliver fun gameplay rather than being a realistic graphics, with exaggerated slams and an “on fire” feature I am sure this game will be a great fun to play.

The trailer didn’t reveal much else, apart from some pretty annoying and repetitive commentary and some fast end to end action, as we find out more we will keep you posted.

As reported from Eurogamer, Electronic Arts will be in charge of the game, while they will also be working with Mark Turnell, who was a key figure in the original title from Midway.

While the news has yet to be officially confirmed, the possibilities of a NBA Jam return on the Wii using the motionplus addon is quite promising we feel.
