Pete Doherty to write musical with Carl Barat

It has been reported that Pete Doherty is reuniting with his former Libertines band mate Carl Barat to write a musical for a well-known London theatre.

Producers at London’s highbrow Donmar Ware house have commissioned the indie duo to write a rock musical to coax younger folk down to the theatre.

The singer, now frontman with Dir ty Pretty Things said that “A producer from the theatre approached me through my record label. So I went down there to see a play and we met up for a chat. He asked me if I was still in contact with Pete and whether we would be interested in writing a musical together for The Donmar for the early part of 2009. I asked Pete and he loves the idea. He has invited me to Wiltshire this week to start writing it. But first we have to sit down and think about the rock and roll story.”

Desperate Housewives set to be made into a musical

It has been announced that the hit US drama Desperate Housewives is to be made into a musical after the show’s creator Mark Cherry dropped hints to the cast.

Kyle McLachlan said that “I think it is a great idea. It makes sense. Mark has said that when he finishes his seven years at ABC he plans to go to Broadway and move into the musical world so maybe he does have some designs in that way. That’s all he’s said so far.”

Desperate Housewives is currently in its fourth series and has made household names out of its stars including Nicollette Sheridan and Jesse Metcalfe.
