We recently brought you details on Motorola’s upcoming Android Honeycomb tablet which will finally make it’s official appearance at CES 2011, but now we have a few bits of information regarding Motorola’s participation in Verizon’s 4G LTE plans.

It is no secret that Motorola and Verizon have formed a very close partnership through 2010, culminating in the great sucesses in the lineup of Droid handsets which are still considered some of the best on the market now.

However, Verizon is now looking towards their new 4G LTE network and it is no surprise to hear that Motorola will also be part of their plans. As reported from Engadget, Verizon’s chief operating officer John Stratton has hinted that Motorola will be the first manufacturer to build a device which is 4G LTE compatible.

He didn’t mention any specific handsets, but Engadget believe that the rumored Motorola Olympus is likely to be a blueprint for a device on Verizon, since the Olympus is thought to be heading to AT&T first of all. We wrote a piece on the Motorola ‘Etna’ which you may want to check out.

What are your thoughts on Motorola having the first LTE device on Verizon? Are you a bit disappointed that HTC hasn’t got the nod or are you satisfied with Motorola?

Recently, an image of what looked to be the Motorola Olympus was discovered in the wild. Now it seems that we will be able to get this “iPhone killer” in January or December on AT&T according to a now-deleted Facebook post.

At first, the device was thought to be coming out around the same time as Android Gingerbread or Honeycomb, but if we are to believe what we have been told, it could come sooner rather than later.

On the official AT&T Facebook page, a user left a question regarding the Olympus’ availability to which they responded that “the Motorola Olympus should be available in December or January.”

Of course, there is always going to be confusion amongst the ranks, and the post was promptly removed. But not without a response from the guys at AT&T that claimed that they “don’t have any information to share about upcoming devices.”

AT&T claim that the first response was posted in error, as they do not wish to give release information yet. Especially on Facebook.

If the initial post is to believed, then chalk up a Motorola Olympus on your wish list as it could be coming as soon as next month.

We have some good news for Verizon fans now, as we have just heard details on a new, unannounced phone that will be on the way to Big Red in 2011. It is another 4G LTE-compatible phone and will be similar to a model heading to AT&T.

We recently told you that AT&T would be getting the Motorola Olympus, a Tegra 2 powered smartphone with a huge 4.xx display screen.

Well now, BGR has dropped a big hint that Verizon is also getting the same handset, although it will be known under a different name – the Motorola Etna. According to BGR, the display screen is ‘beautiful’ and will definitely have support for Verizon’s speedy 4G LTE network which will become a lot more mainstream throughout 2011.

Furthermore, BGR adds that the Etna is due for release on Verizon during February or March – not too long when you think about it. There is a picture below courtesy of Gizmodo, and you have to agree that the handset is looking pretty lustworthy.

What are your early impressions of the Motorola Etna – would you buy one? We’ll bring you more spec details ont his handset as we get it.

It is amazing how fast an image of a so-called “iPhone Killer” gets around the net, but that is just what has happened with photos of this latest Google Android handset. The phone looks to be the rumored Motorola Olympus Tegra 2, which looks a lot like the Defy.

Thomas Ricker from Engadget has noticed a few differences between this handset and the Defy, which is why he believes that we are looking at the Olympus. These are different volume controls and the longer speakers, as well as that all-new front facing camera.

A recent post on Android and Me suggests that it is AT&T that will get the Motorola Olympus, and that it will not be known as Droid, but Terminator instead. Other carriers will follow, but it will be AT&T who will get to offer this dual-core smartphone to its customers first.

It is not only mobile phones that will benefit from NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors; we recently reported that Motorola and LG are to offer tablet devices with this same CPU in as well. One such device is the rumored Motorola Stingray tablet, more details here.

How do you think current battery technology will be able to handle these new dual-core processors for smartphones?
