So you’ve just gone out and bought yourself the new Motorola Droid X2 handset, what next? One suggestion could be to buy some nice new accessories and believe me, there are a fair few to choose from. However, how do you know which accessories are worth considering?

That is where a recent androidcentral.com article by Brent Zaniewski comes in handy, as it provides a list of some of the most popular accessories for the recently released Motorola Droid X2 Android handset. The list includes chargers, cases, batteries and even car accessories.

For example, if you are looking to buy a nice new case to protect your new investment, you might like the Seidio ACTIVE case that comes in a variety of colors and features a rubber skin, with cut outs for all the handsets ports. Would you prefer a more simplistic case?

If you do then the Mobi Products Skin case may be the one for you. This form-fitting silicone skin wraps around the Motorola Droid X2 handset like a glove and comes with cut outs for all the controls. If it’s a spare wall charger you’re after, then you might like the OEM Motorola micro-USB travel charger.

Meanwhile, the list of popular Droid X2 car accessories includes the Clingo universal handsfree mount and the Arkon weighted dash mount and holder. You can read more about these accessories and others that are available via the androidcentral.com link.

Have you purchased the Motorola Droid X2 smartphone?

We have now learned that the GingerBreak Motorola Droid X2 root is now ready, and is said to be a simple method. There is no denying how powerful a device...

We have now learned that the GingerBreak Motorola Droid X2 root is now ready, and is said to be a simple method. There is no denying how powerful a device the X2 is, but there is only one way to take advantage of that power, and that is by rooting it. So maybe this is more reason for you to choose this handset, even though some of you believe that the upgrades are not enough on this latest Verizon handset. (View specs here.)

Gingerbreak is great in the way that it allows you to root both Android 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread, so it really is the single click rooting solution as Redmond Pie suggests. There have been occasions where GingerBreak was able to root 3.0 Honeycomb as well. People are still worried about if they should ever root their phone, and if you have your doubts, then you should leave well alone.

Imagine the idea of being able to personalize and customize your Motorola Droid X2, well the answer is there for the taking; you just have to decide if you can be bothered to go through the process, which is pretty simply really.

The first step is to enable USB debugging in “Manage Applications” then you will need to download GingerBreak APK, which can do from here. The rest of the instructions are available for you on Redmond Pie, but from what we have read, nothing could be simpler.

Will you take the risk and root your Motorola Droid X2?

As Motorola Droid fans in the US will be well aware, the long awaited successor to the Droid is now available to buy on Verizon Wireless as of last week. However, some of you are unhappy that the upgrades are not enough, and that the Droid X2 is a bit of a disappointment compared to other handsets on the market.

Despite the criticism, the Droid X2 actually packs some decent hardware specifications compared to the orignal model. These include a 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 8GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM.

However, consumers seem to be grilling the Droid X2 on what it cannot do, and you have to say that it’s missing some pretty huge features. The first of course has to be Android 2.3 Gingerbread. We remember talking about this very subject with regards to Froyo updates on old 2.1 handsets, but now it seems ridiculous to think of 2011 high-end smartphones without Android 2.3 Gingberbread as standard.

Then of course there isn’t 4G LTE data support. Is this a clear sign by Verizon that they are no longer willing to back the X2 as one of their best handsets, unlike the Droid Bionic and Droid Charge which both tout 4G LTE support. A quick glance on the Droid Does website seems to suggest yes, as there isn’t even a slot for the just released Droid X2.

Finally, there is no sign of a front facing camera, meaning that you won’t be able to participate in any sort of video chat using Skype, Google Talk or similar clients. This is another glaring omission from Motorola, and one which is really a head-scratcher from where we are standing.

Have any of you picked up a Droid X2 from Verizon yet? If so, do you agree with the points mentioned above, or have you come to defend your latest smartphone purchase, we’d love to hear both sides of the story.

A few days ago we confirmed the date that the Motorola Droid X2 would be available in-store and online, now we have some other useful information for you, its price.

The Droid X2 will cost you $200 when you agree a two-year deal, this puts it on par with the 16GB iPhone 4 and Droid Incredible 2. As the Droid X2 does not feature 4G connectivity it is also cheaper than the HTC Thunderbolt and Droid Charge.

If you head over to Engadget you can see the full press release, this confirms that it ships with Android 2.2 FroYo but will get an update to Gingerbread in the future, it also says that it is enterprise-ready, so suits work and play needs.

As for monthly rates you will have to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan (starting at $39.99) and you will need a data package, you can get an unlimited data plan for an additional $29.99 per month.

The Droid X2 is a bit of a mixed package, the lack of 4G connectivity will put off a lot of people, however not everyone is worried about super-fast data access. On the otherhand the 1GHz dual-core processor is a first for Verizon and will allow some great multimedia capabilities and fast performance.

Does the lack of 4G connectivity put you off?

As most of you are aware, consumers are still waiting patiently for any news regarding the official release date for the highly anticipated Motorola Droid Bionic handset on Verizon. Unfortunately we still dont have any info on that yet, but we recently learned some very relevant information regarding the unreleased Motorola Droid X2 handset also on Verizon.

We previously told you that the Droid X2 would be available to buy on May 26th, and we now know what sort of specs the handset will possess, and we’re pleasantly surprised with what Motorola are offering. For a quick refresh, the X2 will pack a 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display screen, an 8MP rear camera, 720p HD recording, 1080p HDMI out support and it will also run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

There were initial fears that the X2 would just turn out to be a ‘mid-level’ handset on Verizon, but as you can see the hardware specs are pretty impressive and it now becomes a handset that you should seriously consider picking up on Verizon.

But what about the Droid Bionic? We imagine this will be out a few weeks after the X2, and the specs are very similar but with a few notable differences. For example, you’ll still get a Tegra 2 processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display and Android Gingerbread, but the big differences are that the Droid Bionic comes with Verizon 4G LTE support as well as a front-facing camera. These two specs are missing from the X2, leaving you with a difficult choice on which handset to pick up this Summer.

Will you pick up the Droid Bionic purely because of 4G data support, or will you pick up the Droid X2 which will likely be cheaper as you’re not too bothered about 4G? It’s a very important decision to make, as X2 owners may feel regret if they pick this up on May 26th, then the Droid Bionic releases a few weeks later with better features.

Let us know your thoughts on the two handsets. Droid Bionic or Droid X2?

We’ve brought you a few articles about the Motorola Droid X2 handset over the past few months, but most of them have been related to the specs of the much-anticipated device. Although we have heard rumors of when the smartphone would be arriving, there has been no confirmation up until now.

As Kellex over at droid-life.com recently noted, the Droid X2 was rumoured to have originally been arriving on May 13th (today), but with the release of the Motorola Droid Charge being pushed back, the guys at droid-life.com wondered whether the launch of the Droid X2 could have been delayed as well.

Well it looks like we have some good news for those of you that are waiting for the upcoming handset to arrive, as Verizon has just revealed the release date. The new launch date for the dual-core Tegra 2 Android device will be May 26th. It looks like you may be able to pre-order as from May 19th.

As some of you will already be aware, the Motorola Droid comes with a 4.3-inch qHD display with a 960 x 540 resolution, a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 8GB of internal storage, a 1540mAh battery, an 8GB SD card pre-installed, an 8-megapixel rear camera and 720p video recording.

Are you thinking about buying the Motorola Droid X2?

Last month my colleague Alan Ng gave you information regarding the price of Verizon’s soon to be released Motorola Droid X2. It was thought the price level revealed the handset will be around the mid level range, and today we have more details of the Motorola Droid X2 as specs are finally leaked.

Evan Blass from Pocketnow.com has managed to get details from the full spec sheet for the handset. The new handset will be powered by a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, and have an eight megapixel camera. It will have a 4.3-inch qHD display, and should ship running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The Droid X2 will also have the same Ram/Rom set up as the original Droid X handset, which is 512MB/8GB. But the new processor will allow for better video playback with 1080p via HDMI. There is also a reported 26-30fps for capture and playback.

Connection wise the handset will come with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and Wi-Fi is now the 802.11a standard. The sensors in the new model remain the same of the original, and the handset is expected to launch within the next few weeks.

Do you like the look of the Motorola Droid X2?

Earlier on we gave you some leaked official press shots of the upcoming Motorola Droid Incredible 2, and now we have some fresh pictures of another handset which a lot of you are likely to be interested in – the Motorola Droid X2 on Verizon.

The pictures look to be official, and they have been provided by the guys over at Android Central. One such picture below confirms that the Droid X2 will be almost identical in appearance to the original and hugely popular Droid X, but the one thing that everyone wants to know is what specs it will possess.

Sadly, Android Central do not offer any leaked specs, but the pictures they show do confirm that this handset is running on Android 2.2 Froyo – hopefully this gets upgraded to Gingerbread before launch though. However, an additional report they wrote back in February suggests that this may be equipped with a 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor, but it won’t have support for 4G LTE on Verizon, 3G only – what do you think about that possibility?

The X2 will still have the physical buttons on the bottom of the device, while further pictures confirm the return of the 8 megapixel rear camera too, as well as HDMI and Micro USB ports. If you ask us though, this needs to have 4G LTE support to really sell well, especially if Verizon get hold of the iPhone 5 which is very likely to happen.

Are you interested in the Droid X2 or not?
