We have some good news for those of you who planning to pick up either the HTC Droid Incredible 2 or Motorola Droid X 2 handsets on Verizon, as some leaked information has revealed a retail price for both handsets – and we’re pleased to say that there isn’t any surprises.

The guys over at Phone Arena have managed to get hold of some Verizon intel, and it confirms that both the Droid Incredible 2 and the Motorola Droid X 2 will be available for $199 on two-year contracts with Verizon. Just to let you know, this is the standard price that Verizon debuts for new handsets, although this has now changed for their 4G smartphones.

For example, the document also reveals that the upcoming LG Revolution will be priced at $249, which is a 4G LTE handset on Verizon and it’s also the same price as the current HTC Thunderbolt handset on Verizon – another 4G LTE phone.

It’s probably too harsh to say that this will result in the Droid Incredible 2 and Motorola Droid X 2 being labelled as ‘mid entry’ smartphones, rather than their 4G LTE premium devices as the price lists suggests, but we’ll just have to wait and see what both handsets offer in terms of hardware and features, as it’s still pure speculation at the moment.

What are your thoughts on the $199 price tags for the two phones – surprised or not?

Earlier on we gave you some leaked official press shots of the upcoming Motorola Droid Incredible 2, and now we have some fresh pictures of another handset which a lot of you are likely to be interested in – the Motorola Droid X2 on Verizon.

The pictures look to be official, and they have been provided by the guys over at Android Central. One such picture below confirms that the Droid X2 will be almost identical in appearance to the original and hugely popular Droid X, but the one thing that everyone wants to know is what specs it will possess.

Sadly, Android Central do not offer any leaked specs, but the pictures they show do confirm that this handset is running on Android 2.2 Froyo – hopefully this gets upgraded to Gingerbread before launch though. However, an additional report they wrote back in February suggests that this may be equipped with a 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor, but it won’t have support for 4G LTE on Verizon, 3G only – what do you think about that possibility?

The X2 will still have the physical buttons on the bottom of the device, while further pictures confirm the return of the 8 megapixel rear camera too, as well as HDMI and Micro USB ports. If you ask us though, this needs to have 4G LTE support to really sell well, especially if Verizon get hold of the iPhone 5 which is very likely to happen.

Are you interested in the Droid X2 or not?

We have some exciting news for Motorola Droid fans now, as some leaked pictures have appeared online, revealing that Motorola has plans to release a further three handsets at some point this year. Two of them are thought to be Droid branded, and the other one a separate 4G LTE device.

The pictures have appeared over at HowardForums, and it confirms that all handsets are made by Motorola and unsurprisingly, all three will run on Android OS. The first is meant to be the ‘Motorola Droid 3‘ and a picture of it can be seen below.

Unfortunately, no other details are mentioned, other than the fact that it has a QWERTY keyboard, although we can’t see this in the picture. A second picture showing the Droid X 2 has also been revealed, but this handset looks almost identical to the Droid 3, so we won’t bother uploading it here.

Finally, the most appealing picture comes from a handset known as the ‘Targa’ which information over at Howard Forums state is a 4G LTE device for Verizon. It looks like a lot like the LG Optimus 2X in our opinion, take a look at it below to see for yourself.

What are your thoughts on these leaked handsets? Until we see more information on them, don’t take this as an official confirmation that they’re coming just yet, but it does look promising we have to say. Hopefully we’ll get some spec details on the handsets so we can pick out which one is worth looking forward to the most.

It has now been over 6 months since the release of the Motorola Droid X, therefore it is unsurprising to hear that leaked details of the smartphone’s successor (the Motorola Droid X 2) are beginning to emerge, a recent article posted on Engadget lists some rumored leaked specs and also features what are said to be leaked photos of this highly anticipated device.

Before we list the specs we must remind you that these are unconfirmed, so don’t get too excited just yet. According to Engadget the Droid X 2 will feature the same 4.3-inch display and 854 x 480 resolution as its predecessor, however it will have a 1.2GHz single-core CPU and 768MB of RAM.

The Droid X 2 is rumored to be heading to Verizon sometime during Q2 2011, however there will be no LTE, with so many high-end smartphones being unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2011 this week the Droid X 2 isn’t really sounding all that appealing, in terms of design not a lot has changed either (see image below).

Hopefully we will hear some confirmed specifications sometime soon, the original Droid X featured a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera, WiFi b/g/n and 8GB of internal storage, the rumored faster CPU and more RAM should mean that the Droid X 2 is an improvement, but many would want to see a lot more to make it a worthy upgrade.

Will you be buying a Motorola smartphone in 2011? If not, what manufacturer do you prefer?

If you currently own a Motorola Droid X handset, you are probably taking a keen interest in the collection of 4G smartphones that are slowly making their way onto the cell phone market. If you haven’t been persuaded to part with your precious Droid X yet, that may be set to change.

Some information over at BGR has revealed that Motorola are planning an upgrade to one of their most popular handsets to hit the Verizon network. Dubbed the Motorola Droid X2 or X 2 and codenamed ‘Daytona’, we’re hearing that this handset will pack some signifcant hardware updates that will definitely get your juices flowing.

How does a Droid X style handset with an Nvidia Dual-Core 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor sound to you? We’re also hearing of 4.3-inch display screen with a much higher screen resolution this time around.

Other specs include an 8 megapixel camera, 720p video recording, DLNA streaming, MicroSD support and HDMI-out slot. No word on whether the Droid X successor will feature a front facing video camera, but if it does, you’d expect it to be fully compatible with Verizon’s 4G LTE network for high speed video chats.

The only downside to the rumored list of specs so far, is the inclusion of Android 2.2 Froyo. Hopefully this gets bumped up to Gingerbread, but we wouldn’t count on it before launch.

What are your initial thoughts on an upgraded Droid X smartphone – would it be an instant buy for you or not?
