In case you still don’t know, the Droid 2 Global is the new name for the ‘World Edition’ Droid 2 which was first teased over a month ago.

The Global version of the Droid 2 comes equipped with a few notable additions from the original Droid 2, with the main one being a faster 1.2Ghz processor, as opposed to the 1Ghz chip on the old model.

Other specs confirmed include a 5 megapixel with dual LED flash, flash 10.1 support, 8GB of internal storage plus more with SD, 3G Mobile hotspot, and a choice of two colors – Dark Sapphire or Winter White.

As we informed you in a previous report, the Droid 2 Global is set to launch on Thursday November 11th – we’ll update you if that date changes. Check out the full spec sheet over at Droid-Life.

We have seen some pictures of the white model before, but Engadget has obtained an image from Verizon’s rebate system which reveals that the Droid 2 global will be available in a choice of colors.

While the image doesn’t actually reveal what colors they are, this Droid-Life report suggests that the two model names relate to the white edition of the handset, and also a funky model in blue.

We haven’t seen any hard proof of this yet though, but a Droid 2 in blue certainly sounds rather tasty. We’ll update you when we hear more on this.

That is according to this report from Droid-Life, as they have taken information from an official-looking Verizon test website, revealing a $299 price for the BlackBerry-esque handset.

That $299 price relates to a two-year deal with Verizon and after a $100 rebate. For those of you who would prefer to buy the handset outright, expect to pay a hefty $499 for one.

What are your thoughts on this? Did you expect to pay $199 for this on contract, or did you predict that Verizon would make this one of their ‘premium’ handsets?

We have the first specs for the device and also confirmation that it will come with more than one choice of color.

As reported from Droid-Life, the handset hasn’t actually been given an official name, but several names have already been associated with it – which include Droid 2 ‘World Edition’, Droid 2 ‘Global’ and even the Motorola Droid ‘Pro’.

Droid-Life has managed to obtain some initial specs for the device, one of which includes a 1.25Ghz OMAP3630 processor. If that spec is confirmed, then the Droid 2 World Edition is going to be a very fast handset indeed.

Other known specs include a 3.7-inch display screen, 5MP camera, same QWERTY keyboard as the original Droid 2, and also Android 2.2 Froyo as well.

Check out the image below, it shows the handset sporting a silver and white shell, which looks pretty cool I have to say.

As reported from Phandroid, an image obtained by BGR clearly states the Motorola Droid 2 as ‘whilst stocks last’, so it seems likely that this move will indeed happen over the next few weeks.

If the World Edition Droid 2 does come to Verizon, then hopefully it will bring a lot more added functionality to the handset, aside from it’s roaming capabilities. When we get an initial idea of specs for the device, we’ll be sure to let you know.
