The gameplay does not hold back when it comes to the amount of blood, and this is no more evident than when you perform Mortal Kombat 9 fatalities. Where do these developers get their ideas? While it’s pretty sick/cruel/imaginative you have to admire the job they have, creating the most disgusting ways you can kill the other player in a game must be an interesting job.

While we love the current MK9 fatalities, which include chopping every part of the gamer with a sword, toasting the other player with fire, pulling out a gun and shooting the other guy/girl in the head, and turning into a dragon to finish the other player. These are just a few of the vast amount of fatalities already playable thanks to NetherRealm Studios.

Now we can see that these developers are very creative, but how sick is your mind? What MK9 fatalities have come across your mind, which you feel should be in the game? While I’m sure you can think of better ideas than us, some fatalities we’d like to see include turning the other player into a zombie and seeing them eat themselves, releasing a pack of dogs that tear apart the opponent, and also a return for one of Shang Tsung’s boss morphs, as his Kintaro morph in Mortal Kombat 2 was excellent.

She will be officially available to download on June 21st, but she won’t be coming alone. We’ve also heard that players will be able to download a free compatibility pack for the game, which will enable players who don’t buy the Skarlet DLC, to still fight her online.

Furthermore, this compatibility pack will also include 2 classic skins from Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for Cryax and Sektor, both of which will be free to download. This is excellent news for those who are a bit unhappy with the fact that NSR charged for the retro skin pack, despite the fact that they were already contained on the disc as seen in one of the Challenge Tower missions where you have to fight classic Scorpion as classic Sub Zero.

If you are planning on picking up Skarlet for the game, she will be available for $4.99 or 400 Microsoft points, as reported from ShackNews. Don’t forget that Rain, Kenshi and another unknown character are already confirmed to be coming for the game soon, so players are definitely going to be kept busy over the Summer.

Personally speaking, there isn’t much argument here as it’s a small fee to pay for the amount of work that NetherRealm Studios are putting in to add the extra content. $4 is hardly going to break the bank here, but it’s great that they are still offering Cyrax and Sektor retro outfits as an extra sweetener.

As most of you will know, Rain was the one notable absentee in the game’s roster, and the one ninja that developed a cult following since his appearance in UMK3 and MKT. We’re glad to say that he will finally be making his way into the game during the Summer, but he will be joined by another mystery DLC character as well.

Check out the story trailer for Skarlet below. At the very end, you’ll see Kenshi and Rain are both teased as coming in the Summer, as well as an unannounced mystery fighter who appears in silhouette form – who could he/she be?

Could it be Chameleon or even better, a brand new fighter for Mortal Kombat? Other guesses could include Tanya, Shinnok or maybe some other characters from Mortal Kombat 4. We would prefer to see a new fighter designed for the game though, so hopefully we’ll find out more details soon.

As we told you earlier this week, we don’t have a release date for Skarlet’s arrival yet, but considering that NetherRealm studios has decided to put out a trailer for just her and not other DLC character Kenshi, we would presume that they may be two separate releases, which would be interesting.

While the addition of two extra characters would be most welcome by fans, it’s not the DLC that everyone wants – Rain. For some reason, the little fellow is the only character from MK1,2,3 and MKT not to be included in the game, excluding the likes of Motaro who we see in story mode anyway.

You may remember the creators of the game stating that their aim was to include content from all the old MK 1 2 3 and UMK3 games, so on this basis you would have to presume that Rain is definitely coming as a DLC character at some point. Other DLC characters that may come at a future date could be Cyber Smoke and Chameleon, but what else can they add?

They have just released the classic skins pack that we told you was coming out soon, and you can check out the release trailer for it below. Will the game fall short of DLC to release after they bring out Rain, or do you have ideas which you think may keep the game interesting and fresh for fans. Give us your opinions on this one.

For those of you who are unaware, Scarlet will soon be joining the Mortal Kombat roster as a DLC character. The exact release date of her appearance hasn’t been locked down yet, but Ed Boon confirms that she’ll land any moment now so we expect this month at least.

During his interview with GameTrailers, new footage revealed her two fatalities that will be featured in the game, and one of them in particular is definitely a candidate for the most gruesome fatality contained in the game. To describe it as nicely as we possibly can, Skarlet makes her self invisible in a pool of blood, reappears impaling the opponent upon two blood spikes at either sides of their body, stabs them in the stomach and then proceeds to eat the contents and blood that flows down – we’re not sure even Kratos can compete with that!

If you can find a fatality more violent in the game so far, we’d love to hear what it is, as we think Skarlet’s second fatality tops the list now. Check out the included video below to see the complete video, the fatalities section is about half way through the video.

Mortal Kombat 9′s babalities are much more fun than we have seen in previous games, before you just got to see an infant version of your opponent, now you get to see the baby and a humorous animation, performing a babality is now a really a great way to mock your enemy.

The babalities are all pretty funny and our personal favorites are Johnny Cage’s, Shao Kahn’s and Scorpions. If you want to know how to perform the babalities you should check out this link. When more playable characters arrive via DLC we should get to see some even better babaltities, for now feel free to get inventive with character and babality ideas in the comments section below.

Mortal Kombat 9 on the PlayStation 3 has Kratos from God of War as the exclusive character, so it was inevitable that Xbox users would like to have Master Chef. Just Push Start believes that he is who everyone thinks of when it comes to Microsoft’s games console. However, there has been some speculation that it could be one of the characters from Gears of War.

We need someone who will be able to compete with the others, and maybe achieve the best fatality in the game; but who could that be? There are so many other characters to choose from, and not just from the two franchises that we mentioned above – what a tough choice.

It had been hoped to have an exclusive character for Mortal Kombat 9 on the Xbox 360 on release, but for some reason it did not come off. However, this does not mean that it will not happen later down the line in way of a DLC. In a blog post up on their forums, they revealed that a patch update is on the way for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 within the next two weeks, although a solid date has not been confirmed, as reported from TheSixthAxis.

They clarify that there are a number of issues during online play, and they even specify a few problems during King of the Hill matches and ranked 1v1 matches. They are working on fixing these areas as we speak, and also admit that the problems were unexpected, due to the popularity of the game for both console owners.

Of course, it’s only Xbox 360 owners that can enjoy online Mortal Kombat play at the moment, as we all know Sony are having problems with their PlayStation Network after a serious attack by hackers. We’ll let you know as soon as this patch goes live.

If you have the game on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, you’ll have a good idea of the fatalities for the characters we mentioned about. Quan Chi has a rather nasty one where he continuously beats the opponent to death with the opponent’s leg after ripping it out of the socket.

Kabal on the other hand has an equally as nasty fatality, one of which has certainly raised a few eyebrows since he performs a disembowel technique, ripping various stomach contents out of his opponent with his trusty blades.

Then of course we come to Kung Lao, and his infamous fatality where he drags his opponents body through his hat on the ground, slicing him in two and then holding up both halves proudly. That fatality was the one which was leaked everywhere prior to the game’s release and got every pumped up since it was a clear sign of Mortal Kombat’s return to the gore which everyone had missed since the days of Mortal Kombat 1,2 and 3.

In case you are unaware, each character possesses more than just one fatality. The included move lists in the game will show you how to perform the first fatality, but the second one and some cases, the third ones are secret and you have to find out the input code yourself.

We’ve taken a look at a lot of Mortal Kombat 9 fatality videos on YouTube and we can tell you that there are some really brutal ones out there. These include Stryker’s handgun finish, Shang Tsung’s morph into a clown, Kabal’s disembowel fatality, Quan Chi’s beatdown, one of Baraka’s and so much more – there’s too many to list here.

You’ll be able to view most of them by checking out the included fatality videos below. It shows the standard fatality for each character, as well as the secret fatalities too.
