The recent announcement of Google’s Music Beta has been well documented as of late. Now the service has been launched it is predicted that focus will now be aimed towards Apple’s version the iCloud.

These predictions have been reached from the evidence that Amazon have halted sales of the company’s MobileMe service. These sales halted today and distribution of the MobileMe boxes of software.

Apple previously stopped sales of their service themselves in March, over a month ago now, encouraging users to register for the 60 day trial so as to keep them occupied until their next release. It is said that small store are still allowing purchases of MobileMe.

Their next release was originally thought to be the free version of MobileMe again but now reports like the one from CultOfMac.com suggest a new service, iCloud is to be released instead. It’s a cloud based service that will allow music streaming as well as sharing and storing.

Little else is known about the service so far, although more details are said to come at WWDC next month. Check out the full article from CultOfMac by clicking the link above. Will the iCloud be of interest to you? Let us know down below.

In just a few hours we should finally know what Apple will unveil during their March 2, 2011 media event. However, the smart money will be on the iPad 2, MobileMe and Cloud Storage for iTunes, which is due for launch in the spring. We cannot be certain if all three will be unveiled or if there will be any other surprises. However, we also expect them to talk a little about Mac OS X Lion.

Normally at these Apple events it is Steve Jobs that starts off proceedings, but his ill health has put doubts on this – well he could make a brief appearance. If he were to show up, we bet he would get a louder cheer than usual?

We already know all there is to know about the 2nd generation iPad, such as expected hardware upgrades, design and even the possibility of iOS 5 – the latter would certainly be a nice touch from Apple. However, it will be the new MobileMe that uses Cloud Storage that will be of interest to us.

There have been so many conflicting reports about this new feature; will it be using their new data center as well as your own storage at home? Hopefully those questions will be answered later. Users have had to pay for the MobileMe service in the past, but it is common knowledge that parts of this could soon become free.

Cloud will be a big deal this year and next, so surly Apple needs to get in on that action soon? They cannot be accused of sitting around though, as they are spending a huge amount of money on their new data center, and some of that is said to be for Cloud-based Storage.

What are your expectations for today’s Apple media event? Will we see the iPad 2, and more details on MobileMe and Cloud Storage?

There are some MobileMe users reporting that their accounts have been going from “Individual” to “Full Member,” and there are hopes that after the WWDC 2010 everyone will become a free member. This news was found by BGR, who got their information from 9 to 5 Mac.

We have to point out that this has not been made official and nothing could come of it, but all the signs are there. There have been rumors of MobileMe becoming free so what better time to announce it than at the biggest Apple event of the year.

When Apple first launched MobileMe the service was a luxury to many users, but there is a huge choice of other automatic syncing software for their devices – so this is the only obvious step that Apple can make.

Apple is starting to fall behind in the Cloud business so this announcement during WWDC 2010 will go a long way to pleasing users.
