We reported to you yesterday that Microsoft has finally started to rollout the NoDo update for Windows Phone 7, but up until now we had no idea what phones will receive the update and when. However, we have come across a spreadsheet that shows which handsets will be getting the latest version of WP7 throughout March.

Looking on the Microsoft website you will see a chart, all you need do is look for your phone and then you will be able to see the status of its update. There will be three stages, the first is testing, which you can see most phones are undergoing. The second in scheduling, this means that it has finished its testing stage and should be ready for download 10 days or less.

Finally we have delivering update, this means that customers will start to receive their updates, but could take weeks for users to receive theirs. We can clearly see on the US chart here that no WP7 handsets have been updated, and there are still no dates either.

However, when you take a look at the international page here, you can clearly see that some handsets have already received the update, but are you one of them? Is seems as though handset OS updates are just as complicated for Windows Phone 7 as it is for Google Android, this is because they both have multiple handsets to deal with. However, this is something that Apple does not have to worry about with iOS, as it is only the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that uses the mobile operating system, which as we know are all made by Apple.

Microsoft did not have a big showing at CES 2011; yes Steve Ballmer spoke about Avatar Kinect for the Xbox 360, but not much worth of any interest – or so we thought. After the dust had settled we managed to find some news about Windows Phone 7 and a possible update called ‘NoDo’, which Mobile Computing News tells us stands for ‘No Donuts’.

We are not certain when the update will be available, but we do have a few details on what features we can expect. The first update is copy-and-paste, which we recently discussed and even have a video for you, which you can see here.

Other features include improvements when switching from one function to another, and minor tweaks to offer greater performance. ‘NoDo’ is just the first of a series of updates, Apollo is considered to be the most extensive of the updates, but is not due until 2012, more details can be found from our previous article.

We have yet to receive any official details about these updates, but we cannot see any reason why these updates will not be made available soon – well ‘NoDo’ anyway.

With 10 handsets announced last week that will run on the new Windows Phone 7, there is no denying commitment in this early stage from Microsoft and vendors Dell, HTC, Samsung and LG. A lot is riding on the success of this new mobile OS, and first impressions looks good.

Microsoft has now put Windows Mobile behind them, which is the best policy when you look back at how bad it all got. We all know that the hardware that will be available to Windows Phone 7 will be more than capable, so it is down to Microsoft to get the software just right.

Chris Hall from Pocket-lint has spent some time with three of the main handsets to offer up an early review, the devices are as follows: HTC HD7, LG Optimus and the Samsung Omnia 7. Hall had all three devices running a number of beta software applications; all had their small issues so allowed for a level playing field.

The new mobile OS certainly looks promising; with Chris saying that it has “some nice touches and flashes of inspiration.” He points out that it was nice to see a new interface come along and not look too busy – something that cannot be said for some of the others on the market. For a complete review of Windows Phone 7 visit Pocket-lint.

Today is a big day for Microsoft, as they are to hold their Windows Phone 7 launch event in just a few moments. So we know that Steve Ballmer and his team will be showing us in detail the new mobile OS that is set to take the fight to Android, iOS, RIM and Symbian.

Sorry for those webOS fans out there, I have left them out due to the fact that they have not been a big player this year – although this could change in the early part on 2011, which is when HP is rumored to launch a new version of the OS along with new handsets as well.

So back to today, we already know that five devices are said to be unveiled today, such as the HTC Mozart, HD7, LG Optimus 7 and the Samsung Omnia 7. These are just a few of a whole range of handsets that are set to adopt Windows Phone 7, with AT&T being the premium partner.

For those of you who would like to watch the event via a live blog, then we have all the details here, as well as start times for different countries. We just wonder if this event will be enough for Microsoft to get its mobile OS market back on track?

Today is the day that Steve Ballmer will hold his keynote during the Windows Phone 7 Launch Event, and as you would expect the amount of pre-launch news is now heating up. Not only have we already seen the LG Optimus 7 appear officially online and then go, but also the rumored HTC Mozart on Telstra

Earlier we gave you a list of times for Microsoft’s event, as well as a link to the live Engadget blog. There are huge expectations for this event, which is seen as make or break for the company.

The official images for the LG Optimus 7 has certainly got the media talking, such as why was the images put up then taken down? However, there have already been a number of leaks about this handset regarding its specs.

For those of you who missed out on those images, then head over to Engadget for a gallery of four photos. What do you expect from today’s event?

With the upcoming launch of the Windows 7 mobile operating system, Microsoft has decided to call it “The revolution is coming.” But the question is will Windows Phone 7 be a revolution?

Chris Matyszczyk of Cnet is asking if the world is running out of words, since it seems like every company who bring out a new piece of tech are offering a revolution. An ad which was premiered in London last week showed what Microsoft thinks of its new creation.

Can Windows 7 really change the world of Smartphone’s that much, that most of the world will be jumping ship from their iPhones or BlackBerry’s? It seems Microsoft thinks this will be the case after the company staged a mock funeral to honor the two devices, and it will be a quick and final revolution.

The new mobile OS will be aimed at real human beings instead of financial officers. Will it be not as important to the same people that Windows Phone 7 doesn’t have multitasking or copy and paste? We will have to wait and see how many people decide to join the ‘revolution’.

We know now what we are going to get officially from the new iPhone and the iOS 4 with the announcements yesterday. But with the recent release of Android 2.2, aka FroYo the battle between Google and Apple is a fierce one.

Priya Ganapati is running a story on Wired.com comparing the two operating systems side by side. With Apple’s new software having many sort after new features, like multitasking that will enable users to make a call while checking email and listening to music, some might think the battle is already over.

The new options available with the iOS 4 are good, but the Android system has some extras of its own. Take the Hot-Spot capability the Android system can support up to 8 devices with Wi-Fi but the iOS 4 has no support.

With Flash Apple will only support its App store and HTML 5, but on FroYo a Beta version of Flash Player 10.1 is available. The story continues with comparisons of the two systems which you can see in this article.
