We have some important news for Metal Gear Solid fans now, as it looks like one more final collection is set to release this Summer. The Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection has been outed and now confirmed by Konami, but it won’t be available on the Xbox 360 unlike the previous Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

One big reason for this, could be due to the fact that Metal Gear Solid 4, a PlayStation 3 exclusive is finally being included as part of a big bundle. The Legacy Collection also includes Metal Gear Solid, the HD versions of 2 and 3 and also a copy of Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.

As extras, the Legacy Collection will also come packed with two Metal Gear digital graphic novels from Ashley Wood and the old school Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 MSX games as part of Metal Gear Solid 3 HD. At the moment, the bundle has only been confirmed for a release in the US, so we’ll have to wait and see if this will land in Europe as well – but we expect so.

It is obviously going to be disappointing for Xbox 360 owners though, who would also like to get their hands on the definitive Metal Gear Solid bundle. As mentioned above, the inclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4 could be the main reason why it is exclusive to PS3 and we’ll have to wait and see what Konami say about it at a later date.

There isn’t a price for the Legacy Collection yet, but expect to pay a hefty sum for it considering it contains all major Metal Gear games to date. The only notable absentee that we can see missing is Portable Ops, but that shouldn’t really be a big blow to anyone.

The artwork looks pretty stunning and is all a part of the Metal Gear 25th anniversary celebrations. Let us know if you are disappointed that this isn’t coming to Xbox 360.

It is a great day for fans of Metal Gear Solid and the new Ground Zeros game, which is thanks to just under 11 minutes of gameplay going live within the last few hours, and this footage of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros can be seen below this article. It is fantastic to see the original MGS Snake in the video and after watching this gameplay we can’t wait to get hands-on.

The original demo of Ground Zeros took place at PAX 2012, and this demonstration had been around 15 minutes although the cut down version is still impressive. During the gameplay you get to see what the Fox Engine can do, and as far as we can see it looks pretty good.

It is worth noting that the start of the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros video is just a cutscene, which does last a while, so keep watching and you’ll see some gameplay towards the end. This game will lead to another, commonly known as Metal Gear Solid 5, so you can count this version as a stepping-stone to that game. Personally we’d prefer to only buy MGS games with Snake in, although it would be good to hear your thoughts on his inclusion, so hit the comments below.

Kojima has explained in the past that the Fox Engine will move up to the next-generation of games console, PS4 and Xbox 720, with ease thanks to its ability to up scale. For now you’ll be using the new game engine on the current generation, and at the time of writing the release date is unknown.

Are you looking forward to getting hands-on with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros? We’d love to hear your thoughts on both the trailer and what you make of the Fox Engine so far? It is worth pointing out that the gameplay seen in the video below is PC footage, but Kojima did state at PAX that the quality is similar to the PS3 version.

Those of you who have been waiting patiently anticipating the Metal Gear Solid HD collection that was reported to hit consoles in the UK, will be very pleased to know that Konami have finally revealed the official release date for it.

News that there would be a HD remake of the popular series first began back in December last year. Later the collection was confirmed to be making its way to the PS3 exclusively, before news that it would also be made available on Xbox 360 consoles, possibly angering PS3 fans at the same time, was revealed. Now we can confirm via the developers that the collection will be appearing on Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles on February 3rd.

If you are unfamiliar with what the HD collection will include, here is a reminder of what you can expect come next February. It will feature three HD remakes; Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (a PSP title), Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. It will also feature two non-HD games; Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and Metal Gear.

Back in August we brought you news of a special ‘ultimate’ edition HD collection which was available at Zavvi for the PS3. These were limited availability bundles, only 4,000 of which could be obtained. They included all the content you will be able to get in February except they also featured a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and PSN code for allowing the download of the PSOne game Metal Gear Solid.

Which console will you be downloading the Metal Gear Solid HD collection on next year?

We have some pretty exciting news now for those of you that are thinking about purchasing the much-anticipated Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, as we’ve recently discovered that UK online retailer Zavvi is offering its customers a very special ‘Ultimate’ edition of the HD Collection. However, fans are being advised that it will be extremely limited in quantity.

In fact, according to a recent article by Pete Davison over on the gamepro.com website, the special ‘Ultimate’ edition of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be limited to only 4,000 individually numbered copies worldwide. Zavvi has the release date of the special ‘Ultimate’ edition – which has been priced up at £69.85 (around $114) – down as November 25th.

Some of you may now be wondering what exactly makes the ‘Ultimate’ HD Collection stand out from the standard HD Collection. Well, the standard edition of the HD Collection comes with high definition versions of the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (originally a PSP exclusive) and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

The ‘Ultimate’ HD Collection – which seems to only be available for the PlayStation 3 – on the other hand includes a copy of the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots game, as well as a PSN code that enables you to download the PSOne version of the very first Metal Gear Solid game. It also comes with five art cards and fancy steelbook packaging.

As Zavvi notes on its support pages, the company does not ship certain products outside of the UK, including – but not limited to – all gaming consoles and other electronic products. However, there is no mention of software, so people living outside of the United Kingdom may be able to persuade the company to ship the ‘Ultimate’ edition of the MGS HD Collection.

The ‘Ultimate’ HD Collection is available to pre-order as from now. Are you interested in buying the Zavvi exclusive ‘Ultimate’ edition?

When we first heard the news about Konami’s upcoming HD collection remakes for Metal Gear Solid, naturally we were delighted with the news that Snake and co. would be getting an PS3 and Xbox 360 makeover with updated graphics and textures.

It was a while ago that Konami announced the upcoming titles, and recently the company revealed the very first gameplay trailer for the HD remake of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker – one of the titles featured in the upcoming collection.

Previously a PSP exclusive, Peace Walker HD will now be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 and this latest trailer gives us a chance to see how Konami are handling the new remakes in HD – Or so we thought.

After watching the trailer, we have to admit that we felt slightly disappointed on the quality of the graphics featured in Peace Walker. It was under our impression that Konami will be totally remaking the games, i.e utilizing the full power of PS3 and Xbox 360 console capabilities, but in actual fact it looks like Konami has just bumped up the resolution to 720p, added a new slicker menu interface, and very litte else.

We’d even go as far to say that these graphics are PS2-like, and definitely not we and most Metal Gear Solid fanatics were hoping for. Konami recently teased that they may be planning to re-visit the original Metal Gear Solid game with a brand new remake with a new story, but judging by the quality of their HD Collection as seen in Peace Walker, we’re a bit skeptical to say the least.

Are we perhaps being a bit too harsh on Konami and the team? Maybe a little bit since the game still looks decent to an extent, but when you announce a HD Collection at E3, it’s generally supposed to be a big deal, however these graphics we’re seeing here definitely aren’t. Watch the trailer below for yourself, and tell us we’re wrong – we’d love to hear both sides of the story here.

Konami are also planning to ‘remake’ MGS2 and MGS3: Snake Eater as part of the HD collection, hopefully they won’t look as painful as the graphics in Peace Walker do. One thing we definitely love though are the crisp codec interfaces, and is that a new voice for Snake that we detect there as well? Some of you may be glad that you’ll finally be able to enjoy this title on the PS3 console, but after watching the first gameplay trailer for it, some of you may be thinking it should have stayed on the PSP and Konami focus their attentions on something else.

What will the Zone of the Ender remakes look like? Do you agree with us that the graphics are slightly disappointing, or do you think they look acceptable?

As a further point of interest, we recently wrote an article in relation to ‘gamers being misleaded‘ in 2011, and you have to say that this upcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection may fall into the same category. We know you can do better Konami.

If you tuned into this year’s E3 event, you would have seen Konami announce a HD collections for Metal Gear Solid, although the original Metal Gear Solid was missing from the lineup. However, we have some exciting news for you now, as Kojima Productions has recently stated that they aim to remake it separately.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will feature Metal Gear Solid 2, MGS3: Snake Eater and also Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which was previously a PSP-only game. Those titles are all on the way to the Xbox 360 and PS3 at some point, but the one title that gamers want remade is the original, and arguably the best.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Yoshikazu Matsuhana, creative producer with Kojima Productions revealed that the studio has plans to ‘re-imagine’ Metal Gear Solid, with all new content, HD visuals of course and possibly even change the storyline too – which would be a mouth-watering prospect for die-hard fans of the franchise.

Check out a portion of his interview bleow:

‘‘If we were going to do Metal Gear Solid 1 we’d want to take more time with it. Not just up-res the textures, not just make things look pretty and polished, but go back and tweak some of the gameplay, tweak the story to update things and do it properly. Not just a re-master but a re-imagining almost.”

He added that they definitely want to do it at somepoint ‘down the road’, but confirmed that it isn’t in their plans at this current stage. Either way, his comments are going to bring a sigh of relief to fans who thought the chances of an orignal remake in HD were dead and buried after the HD collections announcement at E3.

Are you waiting for the first game to be remade? What are your thoughts on a storyline change?

If you were one of the many gamers that were expecting to see Hideo Kojima at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), then I’m afraid you’ll be a little disappointed as we’ve just discovered that the Metal Gear Solid creator will not be attending the E3 2011 event.

According to a recent article by Zak Islam over at playstationlifestyle.net, Kojima had previously spoken about his desire to reveal his ‘dream’ NGP / PSP2 game at this year’s E3 event, but the industry icon has since confirmed that he will not be making an appearance at this year’s convention.

Kojima confirmed the news via his Twitter page by saying that since he has decided not to go to the E3 event, he has made an interview video with Mark MacDonald (former editor at 1up.com/EGM) instead. Kojima may not be present at E3, but he might make an appearance at Konami’s pre-E3 press conference.

Sony is no doubt going to put a huge emphasis on the NGP (or Vita as it may now be known) during their press conference this year, so it’s definitely a bit of a let-down that Hideo Kojima will not be there to reveal his ‘dream’ title for the Sony PlayStation portable successor.

Were you hoping to see Hideo Kojima at this year’s E3 event?

In what is sure to be a kick in the teeth for Xbox 360 owners, the producer for the upcoming title Metal Gear Solid: Rising has publicly stated that the PS3 version of the game will be the best version out of the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

When speaking in a recent interview, Shigenobu Matsuyama had this to say, according to PSExtreme:

”But hardware constraints we are sometimes annoying. But the problem we have in the PS3 console and power top the console allows us to make our best game. So it is natural that the PS3 version is better than the other two versions.”

Obviously, the translation isn’t perfect there but you can clearly pick out the quote at the end where he says ‘the PS3 version is better than the other two versions’. He explained that this conclusion was due to the hardware restrictions on the Xbox 360 console, but we’re pretty sure there may be other factors which decide what platform has the best version.

For instance, don’t forget that this game will be handled by Kojima Productions, headed by lead man Hideo Kojima himself. It’s no secret that he’s a big fan of the PS3 console, as he and his team have been creating Metal Gear games for years with the only intention of delivering it using Sony’s PS3 hardware.

While it’s obviously good news that Xbox 360 owners are getting a Metal Gear Solid game, how would you feel if you end up getting a below par version of the game? One thing we’ve noticed though, is that the translated site has quoted CVG for their information, but they failed to provide a source. We’ve taken a look at CVG’s site and there isn’t any Metal Gear Solid Rising article in sight. Just something to bear in mind, while you digest this information.

Let us know your thoughts on this PS3 and Xbox 360 owners.

Some of you may remember the news we brought you back in December last year, regarding a rumored release date for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising game. We now have more MGS-related news for you, only this time it appears to be about a HD Collection coming to the PlayStation 3.

As recently reported over on the computerandvideogames.com website, “inside whispers” that were heard by the people at the UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine claimed that a high-definition reworking of the first three Metal Gear Solid titles would be heading to the PS3 at some stage.

That’s all we know at this point, as no details were given about a price, release date or whether or not the HD Collection would be digital or boxed product. If you just happen to still own a PlayStation 2 console, then Amazon also has the Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection on sale.

Apart from the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising game (which will be available for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360), the only other MGS title to have become available for the PS3 is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot. What do you think about a HD Collection for the PS3?

If you need an extra incentive to pick up the recently released Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood game, this video we’re about to show you may help you. It has been confirmed that you’ll be able to unlock a playable skin for Metal Gear Solid character Raiden.

You may think it’s slightly odd that Raiden would feature in Assassin’s Creed, but the clip is pretty awesome to say the least. Raiden won’t feature in the main single-player campaign, instead you’ll have to unlock him in the Animus’ new virtual training mode.

Once you have completed a series of tasks in these missions, you’ll see that Raiden is the last unlockable reward, and to give you a bit of motivation, Ubisoft has released a teaser showing how Raiden looks in the game.

For those of you that are wondering, it’s not the first time that a MGS character has been hidden away in a non-Metal Gear game, as you may remember us telling you how you could unlock a Solid Snake skin in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Don’t forget that you could also play as Snake on Super Smash Bros on the Wii – oh the memories.

If you have Brotherhood already, let us know if you have unlocked Raiden yet. Is he any good or not?
