When I first passed my driving test all I wanted was a cheap car that then changed and i wanted to look for something with more power. However, I have now been driving for a number of years and decided to go for a luxury car. Do not be put off by the price, as there are a huge number of affordable luxury cars to choose from in 2011.

That’s right, you do not need to go second-hand, as there are some great offers on luxury cars, so no need to compromise. According to a Forbes analysis, it seems that we should consider an SUV instead in 2011, two vehicles that they recommend are the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and the Lexus 450h, which are both part of the same company.

Another car that made it high on the list of most affordable cars was the
2011 Chevrolet Volt. I have to say that Forbes is using the term luxury a bit loosely on this one. Yes it is a car that has some great technology inside and we are certain that it drives nice – but luxury, come on.

While at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, AOL Auto made a point that the Chrysler 300 sedan is a great alternative to the pricey luxury cars, as the price tag is much cheaper than the new Audi A6 and Mercedes C-Class.

If you had the choice of any luxury car in 2011, what would it be?

When it comes to choosing two of the most fuel-efficient luxury cars for 2011 there is such a huge choice, but we believe that two of the best has to be the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and the Lexus GS Hybrid. Both offer a good return on your gas mileage, while allowing you and your passengers to drive around in comfort.

Wheels Unplugged believes that the new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the luxury market in the U.S., well it is hard to argue with a 41mpg city rating. What shocked us the most was the fact that this hybrid costs just the same as the standard gas version, $35,180.

Another Luxury Fuel-efficient car for 2011 worth considering has to be the Lexus GS Hybrid. We were a little disappointed with the 22 mpg in city rating, but when you consider what car you are driver – the sacrifice would be worth it. Given the choice of the two, I know what I would rather be driving.

Price is another factor that could put you off the GS Hybrid, eBest Cars explains that you will be paying almost $17,000 more, but you are getting much more car for your money. Deciding between the two will depend on a number of factors, but it all comes down to budget at the end of the day. Which of the two would you choose?

When it comes to the big three Luxury German Auto makers, we often wonder which of them is the most reliably? The three are Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and all will be hoping to have a car that people can not only feel safe in, but also know that it will not breakdown while they own it.

So let us see what BMW has to offer for 2011. There are 14 models in all, which was a shock to me, as I assumed that they only had about half a dozen or so. Of the 14 models I believe that the 3 Series and the 5 Series will be the most popular of the range, and will be in direct competition with the Audi A4 and the A6.

The worrying thing that I have with the BMW 3 Series was how slow they were to react to the poor handling issue caused by those run-flat tires. It is things like this that makes me wonder how long they would react if a more serious problem was found? Inside Line has a complete breakdown of all the 2011 BMW models.

Having searched the Internet for the complete list of 2011 Audi models, we notice that it was Inside Line that once again gave us what we needed. They have just one less model than BMW with just 13. It is so hard to know just what model will be the most popular, but we do not that reliability should be good, as Audi has been nipping at their rivals heals for a few years now.

Finally we have Mercedes-Benz; again there are 13 new models for 2011, but which of these will be the most reliably? I had assumed that most Mercedes vehicles would go on and on without many problems. However, after watching a number of BBC Top Gear episodes this turns out not to be the case. View the full list of 13 2011 Mercedes models at Yahoo Autos.

All three manufactures hope to outdo each other next year, but they need to remember that it needs to be more about reliability and less about sales.

To add to Mercedes current all-electric family comes the introduction of the A-Class E-Cell. It will be the third in the range supported by the Smart and the B-Class F-Cell. Although not meant for large numbers of production, the E-Cell will take the majority of it’s design from the current A-Class.

Obviously using a current model as a base car, Mercedes were able to save on the massive development costs of such a vehicle. With an initial production set for 500 units, these E-cells will be packed off for leasing across the Netherlands, France and of course Germany.

Power comes from two lithium ion batteries that in turn power the electric motor to 95 hp and a respectable 290 Nm of torque. With figures like that the E-Cell can reach 60 km/hr in just 5.5 seconds and top 150 km/hr, pretty impressive for an electric car. With a range of 200 km and normal car performance, styling and refinements, is this the step forward in electric transportation that will make us all consider taking the plunge.

With the 2010 Paris Motor Show looming, some manufacturers are teasing us with pictures of what we can look forward to at the show.

To give us more to get excited about Mercedes has just released official pictures of its latest S63 and S65 AMG models which are set to be in Paris.

For the S63, that should be available towards the end of September, AMG has completely reworked the internals and given the latest version a 5.5-litre V8, outing the previous 6.2-litre V8. Although a smaller capacity the new (M157) engine uses twin turbo’s to push the power from 525bhp to 545bhp. Coupled to this the S63 offers a third gen direct injection with multi-spark ignition allowing the new engine improvements in fuel economy over the previous model.

As with most autobahn munchers the top speed is limited electronically to 155mph and a 0-62 time of 4.5 seconds, but with the AMG Performance kit 62mph comes up in 4.4 seconds and the big saloon can crack on to 186mph. Both S63 and S65 will feature Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist, just to keep you on the straight and narrow.

If you want to take in some images of Mercedes latest AMG arrivals check out the link below.

Whenever you hear someone say in their post “Volcanic” you start to panic about the ash cloud caused by the volcano in Iceland – but we could not think of another way to describe the awesome power of the Mercedes Renntech SL65 AMG Black Series.

Autoblog explains that the tuners have been able to push out 865 horsepower from the engine, this is enough to produce, 1000 pound-feet of torque that’s 263 more lb-ft. more than the standard model. Just so you know, Renntech managed to get 5hp more from the engine than the Brabus Vanish.

The Renntech tuned Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series has a new ECU, sport mufflers and intercooler pumps. These upgrades come at a cost, prices start from $16,390 – but they are certainly worth it. Just watch the video below and you will see what I mean.

There has been plenty of talk about a new entry-level saloon coming from Mercedes in-house tuning division AMG. Although there was suggestion that a new generation of B Class would get the AMG touch, it is now reported that a whole new type of engine will power the smaller saloon.

It is rumored that a downsized turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 would be the basis of the new AMG engine. The new 3.2-liter unit would be up-rated with an electrically operated pressure wave supercharger which will give better response at lower speeds.

With power somewhere around the 400 horsepower mark and with the possibility of four-wheel-drive with a rear-biased split, the new AMG would be set to compete against the Golf R from Volkswagen and BMW’s 1 Series.
