Since the game has just come out, it also means that official reviews are now turning up online as well, and if you are a type of gamer that likes to study as much reviews as possible for a particular game before buying, you are going to be in for an interesting read for sure with the mixed reception that the game appears to be receiving.

Unfortunately, it looks like the majority of gaming publications have not given the game a glowing report, with not one review so far managing to achieve a perfect score – that we have seen anyway. The likes of Eurogamer have only given Medal of Honor Warfighter a 5/10, complaining that the game lacks any identity of its own and merely serves as a ‘filler’ when DICE is unable to release a new Battlefield game each year.

Elsewhere, there’s another 5/10 from Destructoid who have criticized the game by saying that while ‘it’s not exactly bad, it’s not very good either’. Do the reviews now confirm what you have previously thought about the Medal of Honor franchise as a whole? If fans do not have a new Battlefield game to look forward to, the next alternative that will spring to mind is Bad Company without a doubt, pushing Medal of Honor straight to the bottom of EA’s FPS popularity table.

If you have already pre-ordered the game, you’ll be left to make your own conclusions on Warfighter, but if you haven’t picked up the game yet you may be put off slightly after initially thinking the game was going to be excellent. Let us know your initial thoughts on Warfighter and if you pay attention to negative reviews or not before making a purchase.

Fixing Medal of Honor Warfighter with launch patch http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/10/23/fixing-medal-of-honor-warfighter-with-launch-patch/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/10/23/fixing-medal-of-honor-warfighter-with-launch-patch/#comments Tue, 23 Oct 2012 07:20:53 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=153843 If you are planning to pick up Medal of Honor when it goes on sale later on Tuesday, we have a word of warning for you. Not from us, but from EA themselves as they have already finalized a day one patch which will ensure that your multiplayer experience remains problem free.

The sheer amount of changes, bug fixes and general issue improvements though may be slightly alarming to those who are wondering if EA were actually ready to launch the game on schedule or not.

The patch is available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of the game and should be available the next time you boot up your game. If you were lucky enough (or unlucky judging by this list) to pick up the game early, you’ll probably already be well aware of some of the problems that were present on disc.

Going through some of the interesting fixes, we see a fix in place for when the single player automatically started in easy mode as default, rather than normal mode. In multiplayer matchmaking, EA has fixed an issue where players could join private parties, without being invited first – a bug which really should have been sorted prior to release.

This list of patch notes looks like it should belong in a Title Update, one month after launching, not on day one. Is this a warning sign that Danger Close have been having problems getting the game up to scratch in time? If you have already got a copy of Medal of Honor on any platform, let us know your experience with the game so far and whether you have spotted any serious issues that haven’t been fixed.

With so many fixes in place, it does also pose the question that some of the poor reviews that went out may need a rethink if Danger Close has managed to get the mix just right. The patch update is optional, but judging by EA’s description on their website – you all need to download this ASAP before you start playing.

Hints of MW3 in Medal of Honor multiplayer http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/07/11/hints-of-mw3-in-medal-of-honor-multiplayer/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/07/11/hints-of-mw3-in-medal-of-honor-multiplayer/#comments Wed, 11 Jul 2012 06:55:23 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=151512 Earlier on this week we told you that the first look at Medal of Honor multiplayer could be unlocked by ‘liking’ the game’s official Facebook page. That target has now been achieved and EA has given us the very first look at the game’s online multiplayer mode.

Our first impressions are it looks pretty good. There has been a lot of debate on how Medal of Honor will look compared to Battlefield 3 since they use the same Frostbite 2 engine, but after watching the trailer we have to say that the actual similarities are not with BF3, but with Modern Warfare 3 instead.

In the trailer, we get a look at some multiplayer gameplay from Tungawan Jungle in the Philippines. The map shown does not appear to be on the scale of BF3 in size, but rather a closer affair that you would associate with MW3. A lot of the gameplay seems very fast paced and arcade style to us, again traits which you would see in MW3.

If you head to 0.50 of the video below, you’ll see something that looks very similar to the predator missile from MW3. At 1.05 in the video, there looks to be an EOD Bot or RCXD type of gadget that you’ll be able to control and use to your advantage. Graphics wise, the game looks excellent and we’re guessing that this is the PC version being shown here.

If Danger Close are trying to recreate a fast paced game similar to Modern Warfare 3 and avoid comparisons with Battlefield 3, would you be happy with this outcome? After watching that trailer, you can’t really argue that it looks more like MW3 than BF3 and we think that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Check out the first multiplayer footage for yourself and tell us what you think. Predator missiles in Medal of Honor – do you approve?

Medal of Honor Warfighter: Contemplating multiplayer without DICE http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/24/medal-of-honor-warfighter-contemplating-multiplayer-without-dice/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/24/medal-of-honor-warfighter-contemplating-multiplayer-without-dice/#comments Fri, 24 Feb 2012 12:42:04 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=149104 We recently asked you for some of your ideas regarding the next Medal of Honor game, which has already been confirmed to be called Warfighter and will be coming in 2012. The game has now been given a semi-official reveal on the cover of OXM and more details, some surprising, have been revealed in the process.

If you picked up the first game in the reboot, you’ll know that the impressive single-player was handled by Danger Close, while multiplayer was overseen by DICE who are obviously well known for the Battlefield series.

In perhaps a surprising move though, we can tell you that Medal of Honor 2 will feature single player and multiplayer which are both developed by Danger Close. Before you get worried, DICE won’t be involved in the game but they have given Danger Close access to use the Frostbite 2.0 engine.

The game will release in October and seemingly looks set to go head to head with Treyarch’s Call of Duty game which will probably end up being revealed as Black Ops 2, although Activision are remaining quiet on this. While we’re pleased to see Danger Close return for the sequel, it is interesting that DICE has decided to step away from multiplayer, or was it a decision taken out of their hands?

We’re expecting to see a full reveal by EA on the game on March 6th, during GDC 2012 – hopefully they will have some gameplay footage to show off as well so we can see how good the sequel looks using the new Frostbite 2.0 engine which makes Battlefield 3 on PC look so lovely. In the meantime, EA has provided a new teaser image on their website which we’ve included for you below – it looks like Medal of Honor is going to be a serious looking game with plenty of attention from EA.

How do you feel about DICE not developing the multiplayer this time around though – is this a step forward or step backwards for the future of Medal of Honor? It will be interesting to see how Danger Close utilizes the Frostbite 2.0 engine compared to DICE and in a way, it will be nice to see the game go in a completely different direction as we may have ended up with multiplayer that plays very similar to Battlefield 3.

Another big request that we’re hoping they improve on is the length of the single-player campaign. You’ll all agree that the first game was severely lacking in this department, so we hope that this was one of the first priorities when they started developing the sequel.

Danger Close multiplayer for Medal of Honor 2 – are you looking forward to this or not?

Medal of Honor 2: Ideas to make sequel better http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/07/medal-of-honor-2-ideas-to-make-sequel-better/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/07/medal-of-honor-2-ideas-to-make-sequel-better/#comments Tue, 07 Feb 2012 14:32:27 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=148515 DICE may be busy with all the various post-release tweaks for Battlefield 3, but don’t forget EA’s other first-person shooter franchise. Medal of Honor 2 is coming this year it seems and it has now been confirmed that an event will take place next month to officially unveil the game.

The news of a sequel shouldn’t be a surprise to current Battlefield 3 owners. The first teaser information regarding a sequel was actually contained inside the retail box for Battlefield 3, and just recently you may have heard that PSM3 is going to feature a FPS sequel on their cover for the next issue.

Now though we can confirm that EA has scheduled an event to take place on March 6th, and all signs are pointing towards the direction that this is solely reserved for Medal of Honor 2. Timing has already been revealed too, with the event taking place at 8.00pm PST, 11pm Eastern Time or 4am for those of you in the UK.

So now that we know that a new game is on the way, how do you feel about it? We’re presuming that development duties will once again be in the hands of Danger Close, who worked on the single player portion, and DICE who specifically built the multiplayer mode. Medal of Honor was given a mixed reception by gamers, although criticisms were made at the rather short duration of the single-player campaign. Having said that, the content within was very good, so fans will be hopefully that a sequel contains a much more deeper campaign, while DICE will probably just build on the successes of Battlefield 3 to make multiplayer as exciting as BF3.

Don’t forget that the new game will be built on the Frostbite 2 engine as well, which is another mouth-watering prospect to look forward to. We felt that Medal of Honor was ‘almost’ a great game, but certain aspects let it down, like framerate and far from impressive graphics. There will be no sign of that with the sequel on Frostbite 2 this time though (on PC anyway!), so there really is a lot of potential with what Danger Close and DICE can do with the game.

If you played the first game, what new features would you like to see for Medal of Honor 2? What do they need to include to secure your pre-order?

Medal of Honor down Sep 23 – Xbox 360 maintenance planned http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/09/23/medal-of-honor-down-sep-23-xbox-360-maintenance-planned/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/09/23/medal-of-honor-down-sep-23-xbox-360-maintenance-planned/#comments Fri, 23 Sep 2011 00:09:48 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=141070 If you are still playing Medal of Honor on your Xbox 360 we have some important news for you, planned maintenance has been announced and will result in gamers around the world being unable to play Medal of Honor online modes via Xbox Live in roughly 8 hours time. To our knowledge connectivity problems will affect gamers in the US as well as the UK so we just thought we would give you a quick heads up.

A recent tweet from the official Medal of Honor Twitter feed reads “Heads up, 360 players – The #MoH servers will be down for maintenance this Friday (9/23) from 1 AM to 2 AM PST”, as you can see from 1.00am until 2.00am PST on Friday September 23 engineers will be carrying out maintenance on the servers – this equates to roughly 4.00am – 5.00am ET and 9.00am – 10.00am UK time UTC / GMT.

Sadly the official Medal of Honor Twitter feed has not explained what maintenance is taking place, however we wonder whether it has something to do with the Battlefield 3 beta – people with early access to the beta for Xbox 360 had to buy Medal of Honor Limited Edition or Tier 1 – the fact the BF3 beta start date is just four days away seems very coincidental in our opinion – what do you think?

To our knowledge Xbox 360 gamers will receive an email where gamers will get their personal access code and instructions on how to get the BF3 beta – perhaps there will be a new menu item added to Medal of Honor and that is why ‘maintenance’ is taking place early Friday morning – that’s our best guess. If you want to find out more about the Battlefield 3 beta, this previous post may be worth checking out.

So there you have it folks, if Medal of Honor goes down on Xbox Live within the next 12 hours or so don’t worry service should soon be restored – panic over!

Battlefield 3 beta key confusion for Medal of Honor LE buyers http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/09/20/battlefield-3-beta-key-confusion-for-medal-of-honor-le-buyers/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/09/20/battlefield-3-beta-key-confusion-for-medal-of-honor-le-buyers/#comments Tue, 20 Sep 2011 00:21:39 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=140852 Lately we have noticed a lot of interest surrounding Battlefield 3 beta access, well if any of you bought the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor last year, like us, you know that you gained a beta invitation for Battlefield 3 with your purchase, however we are still a little annoyed at the lack of information EA has given us regarding this beta access.

If you read the back of the Medal of Honor Limited case, or the leaflet which is in the box you will clearly see that people who purchased Medal of Honor Limited edition will get beta access to Battlefield 3 within 12 months of Medal of Honor’s release – well the game was released on October 12 in North America and it is September 20 today, this must mean that Limited Edition buyers will find out something within 22 days. (Below we have embedded an image showing the message we are talking about).

Now that isn’t all that confusing, however the message below clearly says “Visit www.ea.com/beta for details”, obviously last year when Medal of Honor came out we knew that there wouldn’t be much information at this address, but still almost a year later the ea.com/beta page leaves us with more questions than answers. All it says is the following:

Beta Details

Beta offer is contingent on Beta availability within 12 months of Medal of Honor release. Beta will be available for a limited time only and offer expires upon close of Beta events. Participation in Beta requires acceptance of Beta Agreement. Must be 18+. Xbox GOLD membership required for Xbox users. Check this site for further details when available.

As you can see 11 months down the line nothing has changes and the end part “Check this site for further details when available” is vague to say the least, are we meant to keep checking daily? Will we receive a message via Xbox Live / PSN when the beta information has been updated on this site? Your guess is as good as ours! We also loaded up Medal of Honor to see if there were any Battlefield 3 beta-related messages splashed on the game’s menu screen, we couldn’t spot anything.

Now we are not being pedantic, we don’t want dates and times etc (well we do, but that is not what we are complaining about), we just don’t know why EA can’t give Medal of Honor Limited Edition a bit of reassurance by saying something similar to “Medal of Honor Limited Edition owners fear not, Battlefield 3 beta access is coming”, this would surely clear up lots of speculation / confusion.

Medal of Honor DLC: Shortcut Pack Hits Xbox 360 – PS3 Soon http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/07/medal-of-honor-dlc-shortcut-pack-hits-xbox-360-ps3-soon/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/07/medal-of-honor-dlc-shortcut-pack-hits-xbox-360-ps3-soon/#comments Tue, 07 Dec 2010 22:03:28 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=116523 Having played Medal of Honor I know just how hard and frustrating it can be starting off with inferior weapons and attachments when compared to your experienced opponents, however you can now buy all of Medal of Honor’s tier 1 multiplayer weapons via the Shortcut Pack DLC.

Currently this DLC is available for Xbox 360 gamers on the Xbox Live Marketplace, it costs 800 Microsoft Points and can be added to your 360′s download queue here, as for PS3 gamers it should hit the PSN soon.

This news was revealed on Twitter roughly 3 hours ago, you can see the tweet from the official Medal of Honor twitter account below, hopefully they will tweet an ETA for the PSN launch soon, it should cost $10.

This content can be purchased via the MoH’s in-game store, personally I think that this sort of DLC should not be released, let’s face people have worked hard to unlock the Tier 1 arsenal, now people can get all of the Tier 1 perks for just 800 MSP / $10.

What do you think about the Medal of Honor Shortcut Pack? Should this sort of DLC be released?

2010′s Worst Video Games List – What’s Your Top 10? http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/01/2010s-worst-video-games-list-whats-your-top-10/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/01/2010s-worst-video-games-list-whats-your-top-10/#comments Wed, 01 Dec 2010 10:21:47 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=115878 2010 has seen some pretty exciting releases in the world of gaming such as the PlayStation Move, the Kinect, the much-anticipated Gran Turismo 5 game and of course, Call of Duty: Black Ops. However, there are always going to be games that some may regret buying.

For example, an article over at thegamersparadise.com lists Halo: Reach as one of the worst games of 2010. I can just see many disagreeing with that choice. Although the author of the article says the game looks good and packs a good story, the Halo: Reach game just wasn’t for them.

Another game that made it onto the list is of course Medal of Honor. There was a lot of hype before this game was released and when it did, many were disappointed. The game may have a good story behind it, but respawning, weapon damage and ranking has been described as total chaos.

Dark Energy Digital’s survival-adventure game Hydrophobia also made it onto the list (not that I’ve even heard of this game before), as did Artificial Mind and Movement’s Naughty Bear for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This game may be fun, but only for about 15 minutes.

Other games on the list include Limbo, Skate 3, Sniper: Ghost Warrior and Create. You can read the full list via thegamersparadise.com. What would you class as the worst games of 2010?

PS Jailbreak: Downgrade Support For 3.42 and 3.50 Released http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/15/ps-jailbreak-downgrade-support-for-3-42-and-3-50-released/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/15/ps-jailbreak-downgrade-support-for-3-42-and-3-50-released/#comments Mon, 15 Nov 2010 18:24:21 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=114121 The jailbreaking wars seemingly never end, and it’s not about to either as PS Jailbreak have just announced downgrade support for PS3 firmware versions 3.42 and 3.50, allowing you to play PlayStation 3 games specifically for previous versions.

Let me just reiterate, this release will not allow you to play games that require the 3.42 or 3.50 firmware, but it will allow you to downgrade from those versions to allow you to play games that were released prior.

The latest release (3.50) was intended to put the PS Jailbreak, and similar services to rest. Medal of Honor forcibly required you to install it, and it was apparently also one of the many reasons for the delay to Gran Turismo 5, whether that is truesay or not we don’t know.

Although 3.50 has not been completely hacked as of yet, i’m guessing that it would be only a matter of time before Sony re-issue another firmware update to stop this downgrade support from happening. Either that, or someone else will find a way through.

Will you downgrade to play all of your older games?

You can find more information via PS Jailbreak.
