We told you that there were early warning signs for Medal of Honor Warfighter when the first initial reviews went up last week, but now the one review that everyone was waiting for has been published and it basically rips into the game even more.

A few days ago, we informed you that the likes of Eurogamer and Destructoid had both given Medal of Honor: Warfighter a less than impressive 5/10 score. Now, IGN has gone live with their own review score and we’re afraid to say that it isn’t pretty indeed, with an even worse 4/10 score and a scathing review on how the game is basically a waste of time and fails to deliver in almost all aspects of the game.

In a review that really cuts close to the bone, IGN has stated that Warfighter is ‘disrespectful of your time’ and that the core design of the game is ‘deeply problematic’, with significant ‘technical issues’. With references to disappearing player models, sound crashes akin to that of Battlefield 3 and a ‘tanking’ framerate, it really does look like Danger Close and EA have released something of a clanger here and we are finding it hard to see where they can recover from this, with future titles in mind when EA cannot release a new BF game every year.

Perhaps even more eye raising is the fact that IGN also makes a bold statement by saying that Medal of Honor: Warfighter is the first Frostbite 2 game which ‘fails to function at a basic level’. We all know that Battlefield 3 has set the standard so far, but is it worrying to see the next Frostbite 2 game after BF3 getting ripped apart so badly? It’s fair to say that EA will secretly be hurting over all of the criticism, maybe even a little shocked too.

If you have already picked up your copy of Medal of Honor, let us know if you agree with the harsh review scores that have been dished out online. Is Warfighter really a lazy effort from Danger Close and EA, or is it still worth the $60?

EA are up to their old social media marketing tricks again and this time it relates to upcoming material unlocks for Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The company are asking for Facebook likes in exchange for new multiplayer footage, but one screenshot already released seemingly confirms the inclusion of tanks.

In a move to get the community pumped up about the upcoming effort from Danger Close, fans are now asked to participate in a group effort in liking the Medal of Honor page in order to be rewarded with a first look at the game’s multiplayer offering. So far, the Facebook page is at 58% and EA has promised to unlock some bonus screenshots along the way to the 100% target.

The first screenshot is already live and shows a jungle like setting complete with a rather large tank as well as a few jeeps. Either EA are trolling us real hard with this image, or they have just confirmed that tanks will be playable in some aspect of the game – let’s hope it’s multiplayer.

It would be pretty annoying if this just turned out to be part of the level’s background, but let’s wait and see what happens. The like count is at 58% right now so there’s not long to wait at all. EA has said that they will unveil another screenshot at 90%, so tell all your friends about it and let’s see what else they have to show off.

We remember EA doing a similar move for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, as there were several Facebook-orientated unlocks as well. It’s a neat way of getting fans involved in the build up to release, so it would be nice if other developers followed similar moves.

Considering that Danger Close is now building the multiplayer part of Warfighter, as opposed to DICE who did multiplayer for the previous game – are your expectations high or not? A lot of gamers are fearing that it is just going to play similar to Battlefield 3, but without the main focus on vehicles. Would a controllable tank spoil things for you, or would you be happy to jump into various vehicles again? Let us know your thoughts on the game’s progress so far.

If you have already played Battlefield 3 to death and are looking for a new first person shooter experience, you may want to consider Medal of Honor: Warfighter. This game also uses the impressive ‘next gen’ Frostbite 2 engine and we have some uninterrupted E3 gameplay for you enjoy.

If you tuned into E3, there is a good chance that you may have already seen the explosive demo that Danger Close unveiled on stage. However, that footage was of someone playing the game and now you can check out the whole thing in much clearer detail without the camera dropping in and out.

It’s fair to say that not everyone enjoyed the first Medal of Honor game, but with the Frostbite 2 powering the new effort, Warfighter looks to be a different beast altogether. The gameplay shown here takes place in Somalia as the Tier 1 operators attempt to rid the Pirate Town of their terrorist inhabitants.

There’s no question that this is PC footage we’re seeing here, as we would be very surprised if Danger Close has managed to achieve this level of graphics quality on console. Watch from 2.35 onwards as you see two Tier 1 members blow open a locked door, take out the insurgents within and then laser designate a building opposite full of snipers – the graphics are simply immense and just imagine playing this at home with a decent sound system. Meaty.

5.55 minutes into the video also gives you an example of the Frostbite 2 engine put to good use. Watching that and then thinking back to DICE’s recent statement on how it is ‘just the beginning’ for the Frostbite 2 engine, makes us very excited for the future regarding next-gen games using the engine.

Watch the action yourself and let us know if you will be picking up Medal of Honor in October. Do you wish to see these kinds of graphics on console?

We have a treat for those of you who are itching for a closer look at EA’s new Medal of Honor game. The first proper footage for Warfighter has now been released and for those of you fearing of an inferior product compared to Battlefield 3 – it actually looks pretty good.

Battlefield 3 is still very much the game to play at the moment, regardless of the state of multiplayer at the moment. EA has a tough task ahead if they are going to entice gamers to move away from BF3 in favor of picking up their new Warfighter game. A brand new trailer released though does a mighty fine job of planting the seed though, as we see some actual gameplay for the very first time, utilizing that Frostbite 2 engine which has been used to great effect on the PC version of Battlefield 3.

The gameplay shown takes place in the Philippines, with Danger Close eager to once again emphasize that the gameplay will allow players to take the role of numerous assault forces on a global scale. Don’t ask us why but one of the soldiers featured in the trailer really reminds us of Jesse Ventura’s Blain character from the awesome Predator movie – watch it and see what you think!

There’s even a explosion-filled gunship scene thrown in there for extra measure too which looks particularly tasty. A lot of people are still not sure about whether to get this game after the first MoH title, but we say it is looking very good. The big question that a lot of you are wanting to know though is – how good is multiplayer looking? This will be Danger Close’s first crack at multiplayer since the last game, as you’ll probably know that this was handled by DICE last time around. How well will they be able to implement that Frostbite 2 engine?

Check out the new footage below and let us know your thoughts on it. We’re impressed so far.

More details have now been revealed for EA’s upcoming Medal of Honor Warfighter game. We now have the first teaser trailer to show you, as well as some information regarding multiplayer mode and early details regarding the limited edition of the game.

The trailer doesn’t really offer much in the way of actual gameplay, but since this is the very first look at the game – we’ll let EA off on this one. The game has now been confirmed for an October 23 release, so we’re guessing that we will get a proper look at the game during E3 2012. That late October release is interesting, as it now pushes it towards the release of the likely Black Ops 2 game that will come out in the first week of November. The first Medal of Honor reboot released on October 12, so there is a few weeks gap now for Warfighter, which may raise one or two eyebrows.

The trailer also confirms that the game will be based around Tier 1, but this time it seems they will be aided by special forces from all around the world. It looks like the mulitplayer portion will allow you to choose characters from the likes of the British SAS, the German KRK, the Australian SASR and even the Polish GROM.

As we’ve told you before, the game will be handled entirely by Danger Close and there was no sign of a DICE logo during the opening of the trailer. The Frostbite 2 engine will make its second appearance though after BF3, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see how Danger Close handles the engine, as there is no actual gameplay for Warfighter yet.

You may be interested to know that the single player story was written by actual US Tier 1 Operators and EA are making a point by stating numerous times that Warfighter will be one of the most ‘authentic’ shooters you’ve ever played. Until we have seen some gameplay though, we will reserve our judgement.

What are your thoughts on the trailer – have you seen enough to suggest that this will be better than Black Ops 2, or do you need to see more? As you can see in the image above, you’ll be able to get the limited edition of the game, at no extra cost. According to the MOH website, this will get you an instant unlock for the Tier 1 sniper class, which apparently takes 40 hours to unlock normally in game. There’s no mention of any other bonuses yet, but let’s hope that it includes more in the way of Back to Karkand like with the limited edition version of BF3.

We recently asked you for some of your ideas regarding the next Medal of Honor game, which has already been confirmed to be called Warfighter and will be coming in 2012. The game has now been given a semi-official reveal on the cover of OXM and more details, some surprising, have been revealed in the process.

If you picked up the first game in the reboot, you’ll know that the impressive single-player was handled by Danger Close, while multiplayer was overseen by DICE who are obviously well known for the Battlefield series.

In perhaps a surprising move though, we can tell you that Medal of Honor 2 will feature single player and multiplayer which are both developed by Danger Close. Before you get worried, DICE won’t be involved in the game but they have given Danger Close access to use the Frostbite 2.0 engine.

The game will release in October and seemingly looks set to go head to head with Treyarch’s Call of Duty game which will probably end up being revealed as Black Ops 2, although Activision are remaining quiet on this. While we’re pleased to see Danger Close return for the sequel, it is interesting that DICE has decided to step away from multiplayer, or was it a decision taken out of their hands?

We’re expecting to see a full reveal by EA on the game on March 6th, during GDC 2012 – hopefully they will have some gameplay footage to show off as well so we can see how good the sequel looks using the new Frostbite 2.0 engine which makes Battlefield 3 on PC look so lovely. In the meantime, EA has provided a new teaser image on their website which we’ve included for you below – it looks like Medal of Honor is going to be a serious looking game with plenty of attention from EA.

How do you feel about DICE not developing the multiplayer this time around though – is this a step forward or step backwards for the future of Medal of Honor? It will be interesting to see how Danger Close utilizes the Frostbite 2.0 engine compared to DICE and in a way, it will be nice to see the game go in a completely different direction as we may have ended up with multiplayer that plays very similar to Battlefield 3.

Another big request that we’re hoping they improve on is the length of the single-player campaign. You’ll all agree that the first game was severely lacking in this department, so we hope that this was one of the first priorities when they started developing the sequel.

Danger Close multiplayer for Medal of Honor 2 – are you looking forward to this or not?
