Currently this DLC is available for Xbox 360 gamers on the Xbox Live Marketplace, it costs 800 Microsoft Points and can be added to your 360′s download queue here, as for PS3 gamers it should hit the PSN soon.

This news was revealed on Twitter roughly 3 hours ago, you can see the tweet from the official Medal of Honor twitter account below, hopefully they will tweet an ETA for the PSN launch soon, it should cost $10.

This content can be purchased via the MoH’s in-game store, personally I think that this sort of DLC should not be released, let’s face people have worked hard to unlock the Tier 1 arsenal, now people can get all of the Tier 1 perks for just 800 MSP / $10.

I played Medal of Honor online for about two weeks and despite a few flaws I thought it delivered a realistic representation of what it’s like in real war, the sounds were fantastic and when you got hit by a bullet you certainly knew about it and would rarely come away with your life, also people do not run around as aimlessly as they do in Black Ops, and on the whole it seems as if people care about how many times they die in a round.

Let’s compare this to Black Ops, you start off with access to core modes, here people can take a huge amount of bullets, which have no real affect on your aiming etc, therefore you will quite often survive when you really should not have. Also guns, air support and explosives sound extremely unrealistic, I would imagine if you had a chopper shooting at you in real life it would be a scary experience, however Treyarch have not made this the case in Black Ops, even MW2′s air support sounded more realistic.

I think the main problem is that on all modes apart from search and destroy staying alive really doesn’t matter a great deal, people play with the mentality If you kill me I will respawn and kill you, perhaps there should be more of an incentive to stay alive.

My biggest problem with Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 is melee kills, I know in war if someone 10-20 yards away had a gun I would not try to run up to them and stab them, as chances are you would lose, however in these CoD games a knife often wins against a sub machine/assault rife.

I could go on forever about ways in which Black Ops is unrealistic, my question is… does realism matter in games like this?

(I am not saying that Medal of Honor is perfect because it isn’t, but I think developers have done more to make this realistic than what Treyarch has done)

Our initial review roundup thread told you about some pretty good scores for the game, with IGN UK’s 6/10 being the only score which stood out amongst the rest.

Skip forward to today though, and EA CEO John Riccitello has recently issued a statement regarding the review scores, stating that the low scores were provided by a ‘narrow demographic of reviewers’. Here is more of his statement below:

“[Low scores} come from an excpetionally narrow demographic of reviewers which is offset by the amount of people buying the game. The game has exceeded our plans in both sell through and sell in, and has exceeded our expectations. So it is absolutley a clear success, and consumer feedback has been strong and its a franchise we can successfully continue in the future. ”

EA are under the impression (we agree) that scores generally in the mid-70s range are considered to be good, and we have actually read a lot of contrasting reviews praising the game.

As reported from VG247, the update is said to be imminent, as the full patch notes are already available to view on the official Medal of Honor blog.

Changes include a fix to a bug when joining password protected servers, changes to the amount of recoil and speed and an added aim spot has also been included for the binoculars in hardcore mode.

From AK-47′s to a Laser Emitter. Medal of Honor 2010 has 51 weapons ranging from hand guns, assault rifles, machine guns, launchers, explosive devices and melee weapons.

The subtle, yet powerful when up close Tactical Knife is not a matter of choice, but sometimes the matter of life or death when it comes to multiplayer. But if that is not your thing, you can always go to the RPG-7, a Russian widely-produced shoulder launching, anti tank grenade weapon that will splatter your enemies from distance.

Whatever you choose, all 51 weapons have their strong points which also depend on positioning and the wherebouts of the enemy, also taking personal tactics and preferences in to consideration.

We’ve taken a look at some of your feedback for the game, and while opinions are clearly divided on Medal of Honor, some of you are not too happy with the purchase after getting to grips with it for a few hours.

Complaints include issues with graphics, small multiplayer maps, and also the fact that the single player and multiplayer have been developed by two different companies is also a turn-off. Despite initial concerns about the single-player portion of the game, we’ve read that most of you are actually enjoying it, particularly the destructible environments that you come across.

You’ll be pleased to know that review scores for the game are generally good, although there are a few surprises for those of you who like to read IGN’s reviews. Their UK based website has only given Medal Of Honor a 6/10, which is definitely going to raise a few eyebrows considering the majority of reviews being positive.

Established gaming sites like Eurogamer has scored it an 8/10, while CVG is slightly better, scoring Medal of Honor an 8.5/10. All the reviews have praised the multiplayer mode in the game, but CVG has called it a game of ‘two halves’, suggesting that the single player campaign is rather lacklustre compared to the DICE-developed multiplayer mode.
