Over the last couple of months there has been a lot of mystery surrounding the Arrival DLC for Mass Effect 2, last week we confirmed the DLC’s plot and release date, now we can confirm that it is available to purchase on Xbox Live.

You can add the Arrival to your Xbox 360′s download queue here, you need to have the full Mass Effect 2 game to play it and it costs 560 Microsoft Points (which equates to roughly $7.00). You shouldn’t have to wait too long for the content to download as it is 780MB in size, however the servers might be taking a pounding at the moment.

As we explained previously in the Arrival you must rescue a deep cover operative from the edges of the galaxy, throughout your quest you will discover the truth about Arrival.

This DLC is said to be the last lot of downloadable-content for Mass Effect 2 and will pave the way for Mass Effect 3, we have embedded the content’s teaser trailer below, this should help you decide whether or not to purchase it, surely it’s a must?

Have you download the Arrival DLC? If so did it take long to download? Are there any problems? Let us know in the comments section below.

BioWare still hasn’t announced the ‘Arrival’ DLC for Mass Effect 2, however recently they have been posting screenshots and hints on the official BioWare Facebook page, which must mean that an announcement is coming.

We first heard about the Arrival DLC late last month when an update for the PS3 version of the game leaked trophy details which mentioned the upcoming DLC, now BioWare are creating a buzz on their Facebook page.

Three screenshots have been posted in the last day or so, all of which feature comments from BioWare with the words “Arriving” and “Arrived”, which are obviously not-so subtle hints which we think confirm the Arrival DLC.

We have embedded all three screenshots at the end of this post, none of the screens give anything to substantial away, however we see what looks to be a countdown timer on one and then another shows the numbers “304942″, what does this mean?

Check out the screens for yourself and let us know whether you spot anything. What is the countdown timer for? What is the significance of “304942″? Let us know your theories in the comments section below.

Recently BioWare rolled out a new patch for the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, in the process it looks as if they may have inadvertently leaked some information regarding some new downloadable-content which is headed to the game.

A BioWare forum thread here shows how someone installed the patch and then checked the game’s trophies, here he saw some new trophies which spoke about the Arrival downloadable-content.

One of the trophies called “Covert Action” requires you to “Rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention”, you can see a screenshot showing this trophy below it clearly shows that this takes place when playing the games “Arrival” downloadable-content.

At the moment it looks like the Arrival DLC may just be coming to the PS3, however we cannot yet confirm this, perhaps it will be released on Xbox Live as well, we will have to keep you posted.

In late January BioWare launched the Recon Operations Pack and the N7 Complete Arsenal Bundle, both of which were exclusive to the PS3 and consisted of weaponry and armor, as the “Arrival” DLC sounds like an extra chapter for the game it would be surprising to hear that this is PS3 only.

Will you purchase the Arrival DLC if and when it arrives?

Mass Effect 2 has only been out for a week on the PlayStation 3, but we are hearing numerous reports that there is a major problem within the game, in relation to corrupt game save files which is deleting player’s progress.

As reported from official support forums, which you can view here. The problem occurs when the game fails to recognise save files, and in some instances it will cause the game to crash, thus prompting other save files to stop working.

The good news, is that BioWare’s Jesse Houston has responded to the problem, asking affected users to state where in the game the failed game save first occured, and also how long you had been playing the game before the problems started.

Hopefully it will be addressed in a swift patch update to the game – but the main thing here, is that BioWare are aware of it. If you have experienced save game problems with the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, get in touch with us.

We’ll update you when we hear of any updates on the situation. You can keep an eye on BioWare’s official support forums, or on their Twitter account here.

Now that our North American readers can get their hands-on the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 we thought we would see how the game’s graphics compare to the Xbox 360 version, this is especially exciting as the PS3 release uses the Mass Effect 3 engine.

You can see a high-definition video comparing the two versions side-by-side here, it has to be said that the differences are extremely hard to spot, in fact I have trouble seeing any.

One comment on the GameTrailers website suggests that the PS3′s textures are ever so slightly better, whilst another comment claims that the Xbox 360 version is brighter, on the whole though most people are saying that there is no difference whatsoever.

Just because the graphics are no better than the Xbox 360 version it does not mean that Mass Effect 2 is not worth buying, our recent articles suggests that the game is worth the wait, some reviewers also said that there is a noticeable step-up in the graphics quality, whilst another site said that character models look more lifelike.

Having not played the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 I cannot comment, however going by the GameTrailers video and the screens embedded below there is no huge difference. Have you played both versions? If so, is there a noticeable difference between them?

Here are the comparison screens, click on the images for larger versions.

Now that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 – which as previously mentioned requires a rather large install – has made its way into stores in North America, the reviews have started coming in and it looks like it was definitely worth the wait!!

According to games.uk.msn.com, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 received an impressive score of 95 percent from CVG’s sister magazine PSM3. Not only did it say that the character models look even more lifelike on the PS3, but it also claims it to be the best version of the game.

Sarah Ditum from the guardian.co.uk website echoed the opinion of the previous review, by saying that there’s a noticeable step-up in the quality of the graphics compared to the Xbox 360 version. According to Sarah, the game has outstanding action, a huge depth of interaction and a compelling story.

In the meantime, Tom Pakinkis over at computerandvideogames.com notes that the latest issue of GamesMaster magazine has given the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 a score of 93 percent. In fact, it even goes as far as claiming that it’s the one to buy over the Xbox 360 edition.

This is pretty much what Colin Moriarty from uk.ps3.ign.com had to say in his review as well. Colin describes the PS3 edition as the best, most complete version of the game that’s available. As Colin notes, the Mass Effect 2 game features interesting characters, amazing voice acting and a stellar story.

If you’re a PlayStation 3 owner who is intending on picking up a copy of the Mass Effect 2 game within the next couple of days, then you might want to know about the install size. Whether you purchase the retail or downloadable versions, you are still going to need quite a bit of disc space.

In fact, according to a recent article by Dan Lee over on thesixthaxis.com, the retail copy of Mass Effect 2 needs 4.5GB of space just to install the game, although it does state 5.3GB on the back of the case. Dan notes that their install time took about thirty minutes or so.

However, those of you who own a copy of the Gran Turismo 5 game will know that the install times do vary a considerable amount. When asked about the large install that’s required, Electronic Arts said that it was due to the amount of extra DLC and exclusive content that’s included in the PS3 version.

In other news, BioWare recently commented on the quality of the PlayStation 3 demo of the Mass Effect 2 game, after it received complaints. According to Matthew Reynolds at digitalspy.co.uk, the developer said that the teaser was in fact based on outdated technology.

Electronic Arts has just recently released a launch trailer for the upcoming action role-playing title.

According to a recent article over at connectedconsoles.com by James Love, the PS3 version – which is due to be released on January 21st – of the Mass Effect 2 game will come with DLC such as the Cerberus pack, and some other exclusive DLC.

What’s more is that up until February 23rd, PS3 owners will be able to download the Terminus Armor and M-490 Blackstorm Projector Weapon from the PlayStation Store for nothing. After the 23rd February however, it will then become available to buy.

While we’re on the subject of Mass Effect 2, it appears that the game has been nominated for several awards at the 11th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards. According to Oliver at el33tonline.com, this includes nominations for Best Game Design and Game of the Year.

Now that 2010 is almost over, many gaming websites have been listing their favorite games of this year. As you can imagine there has been a wide variety mentioned, including obvious titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Red Dead Redemption and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

I thought I would take a look at a couple of these websites, just to check out what titles are being dubbed the best video games of 2010. The first article I came across is from Chris Kohler over at wired.com, which actually lists the top 20 games of this year including Fallout: New Vegas at No. 20.

The game that came in at No. 19 on this list is Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii, while BioWare’s Mass Effect 2 game ended up at number 11 and Donkey Kong Returns made it to No. 6. The game that made it to the No. 1 spot on this list however was Starcraft 2 for the PC.

Surprisingly, COD: Black Ops didn’t actually make the top 20 list at all. The next article that interested me is the top 4 games of 2010, from the guys at 4logpc.com. Michael said his favorite title of 2010 was Splinter Cell: Conviction, while Battlefield Bad Company 2 was his runner-up.

Chris on the other hand classed Mass Effect 2 as his best game of this year, and listed Bayonetta as his second choice. Josh listed Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood as his top game of 2010, while Call of Duty: Black Ops was named as his runner-up.

Meanwhile, Cory named Super Mario Galaxy 2 as his top choice and Call of Duty: Black Ops as his second choice. I’m quite surprised not to see Gran Turismo mentioned on any of the lists. Being a fan of first-person shooters, I would have to say Black Ops is one of my top choices.

What would your top 5 list be?
