We have some exciting rumors to share with you now, especially if you are a Marvel Vs Capcom 3 fan. With Comic Con 2011 just around the corner, there is talk of a brand new game on the way, titled ‘Ultimate’ Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

At the start of last week, we wrote a piece suggesting that Capcom really needed to step it up in terms of DLC releases for MvC3 if they wanted to compete with Mortal Kombat, which we believe is the better game right now.

Well, it looks like Capcom has answered that straight away, although this is meant to be a secret to be announced during Comic Con which kicks off from July 21 to July 24th at the San Diego Convention Center in America. Inside information obtained over at TheQuarterBin has revealed that Capcom has plans to release another version of MvC3, an Ultimate edition which apparently adds 12 new characters into the mix and will be available to pick up for a discounted price. This will bring the total player count to 50 and finally bring the DLC characters that gamers have been begging for, although we don’t know who they’ll be yet.

The news definitely isn’t surprising to us, and shouldn’t be for you either since the company has done the same with Street Fighter IV, following up with Super Street Fighter IV and even bringing another version out called Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. While it’s fantastic news that new DLC characters are on the way for the game, many of you will be unhappy that Capcom is once again trying to milk out more money from gamers for new characters, some of which were arguably on the disc already.

You remember the rumors about Frank West and Doctor Octopus don’t you? To refresh your memory, files for both characters were apparently hidden on the current Marvel Vs Capcom 3 disc, leading to suggestions that Capcom were once again up to their old tricks in hiding content on the disc, only to release it as paid-DLC further down the line just like they did with Resident Evil 5.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 may not be to everyone’s liking, but it’s still a pretty enjoyable game – we just wish Capcom would change their stance on releasing DLC, as their current format is only going to create more bad blood and if there’s something to be learnt in the gaming industry, it’s never get on the bad side of your core fanbase.

If Capcom price this the same as Super Street Fighter IV, it means that Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 will come in at $40. We know that it may come with 12 new characters, but what else will Capcom be adding on the separate disc? If you are a current owner of Marvel Vs Capcom 3, we’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Are you happy to pay another $40 for the new characters, or do you think Capcom are taking things too far this time.

It’s a catch 22 situation both from the gamers perspective and also Capcom’s perspective, so it’s a tough one to call really. We will let you know if this Ultimate Edition is confirmed as soon as we get more details.

While all the talk at the moment seems to be about NetherRealm Studios and the fantastic job they have done with rebooting the Mortal Kombat franchise, the other 2011 fighting game that everyone seems to have forgotten about is Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

It has been a while since gamers had any new DLC for Marvel Vs Capcom 3 to enjoy, so what has happened? It seems like a wrong stance for Capcom to take with the game, especially with the release of Mortal Kombat now fresh in everyone’s minds.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 was very popular around the time of it’s release, but things have definitely died down since then and we’re interested to know how many of you still play the game now ahead of Mortal Kombat which is arguably the better game. We won’t go into that debate since it’s obviously a matter of opinion, but we do have to say that NetherRealm Studios seem far more active than Capcom in terms of DLC releases, plus you have to take into consideration the constant updates on the game that MK co-creator Ed Boon is offering to fans via his Twitter account everyday.

With this in mind, we want to know what DLC is needed for Marvel Vs Capcom 3 in order for it to return to the limelight throughout the rest of the year. MvC3 Vs MK9 was meant to be one of the highly anticipated showdowns of 2011, but it looks to us like it’s a one horse race at the moment with Mortal Kombat definitely miles ahead of Capcom’s game.

What characters or add-on content would you like to see added to the game? It’s pretty disappointing that the only downloadable characters for the game so far have been Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. Capcom could have made things much more exciting for owners if they had gone down the route of releasing one new character per month for example – but it hasn’t happened. Is it a case of laziness, or are they just biding their time with the current crop of characters?

We would have liked to see more characters for sure – Venom, Daredevil, Charlie and Bison are a few of my picks but I’m sure you have better ideas. Players would rush to buy them at say $3-5 a pop and the more important factor here is that these DLC releases would help to keep the game nice and fresh, and competitive with Mortal Kombat. Instead Capcom has decided to sit back and let the game stagnate for a while, and we think this is the wrong move from a gamers perspective.

What are your thoughts on this? Any die-hard MvC3 players in the house agree with us that DLC releases should be more consistent for the game? It will be interesting to see what happens at ComicCon, as a update for the game is almost certain to happen during the event.

We have some worrying news for those of you with a copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 3, as it looks as if Capcom has no plans at the moment to bring further new characters to the game as DLC. There goes our hopes of getting Venom, Charlie and Carnage in the game.

This isn’t a rumor either, as Capcom has boldly stated on their EU Twitter account, that the game is ‘done and dusted’, with no further announcements planned at the moment. This is an obvious cause of concern for gamers who are currently not satisfied with the final roster for the game.

Don’t forget that Capcom has already released two characters as DLC in Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath but of course, they are not the most ‘desirable’ characters in the game, unlike Venom and co like we mentioned above.

Hopefully this is all a misunderstanding and Capcom will clarify the situation for MvC3 owners soon, as it would be pretty outrageous if Capcom are not planning to release any more new characters this year. We know a lot of you are not too happy with the current playable characters in the game, so let us know your feelings on this.

Would you feel cheated if we don’t see any more new characters soon?

UPDATE: Capcom has now stated that they were actually referring to Super Street Fighter IV, and they posted MvC3 by mistake. So it was all a misunderstanding after all. Thanks for the kind messages from you though telling us to do our research.

Capcom has shown their happiness for the latest release in the Marvel vs Capcom series after it was revealed that after only being on the market since mid February, the game has already made two million sales worldwide.

The game which fuses two rosters of iconic characters from both Marvel and Capcom, has survived since 1999 when the first Marvel vs Capcom title was released. Sales ever since have not been very motivating for Capcom until this latest release which has restored confidence in the series.

It has been 11 years since Marvel vs Capcom 2 which could explain why this title sold so many copies. Fans were waiting a long while for the next instalment in the series which caused anticipation and expectations to rise. However it would appear that the wait has paid off and the decision for Capcom to continue the series has paid off.

We wonder where the series will be taken next and how long it will be for another release. For now fans can be happy with the title and an ever-increasing library of DLC being released on the Xbox Live marketplace and Playstation Network. Have you bought Marvel vs Capcom 3?

News in from Shoryuken says that a new patch has been released for Marvel vs Capcom 3 which fixes many of the game’s bugs and glitches while also making some general changes to the game. If you haven’t heard the news yet and have the game, you may want to pay attention to some of the changes.

One big change is that Sentinel’s health has been lowered from 1,300,000 to 905,000. Players were quite vocal in expressing their frustration at the huge amount of life Sentinel had and how he was very hard to defeat. Another change is that the Haggar/Spencer freeze glitch has been fixed.

A developmental error has also been patched dubbed “the Spencer Loop”, this would allow the player to repeat a combo which thrusts the opposing player into the air while giving Spencer the time to repeat his attack which leads to an infinite loop of carnage.

Another reported change is that hitstun deterioration on Akuma’s air Tatsu is now more severe. To see the full list of changes to Marvel vs Capcom 3 check out Shoryuken, the comments section is well-worth a quick read.

We are not sure when this update is being rolled out or if it has already hit Xbox Live / PSN, therefore we will have to keep you posted as we hear more.

Has your console received an update applying these changes? Do you like the changes? Let us know in the comments section….

Earlier on today we informed you that the MotorStorm: Apocalypse game’s Japanese release date had been delayed until further notice, due to the ongoing events following the recent earthquake. We’ve also received word that the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom 3 DLC has also suffered a delay.

According to a recent article by Anoop Gantayat over at andriasang.com, the Jill and Shuma-Gorath DLC was originally scheduled to hit both Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store on Tuesday 15th. Although a delay was confirmed, a new release date was unfortunately not mentioned.

The game’s developer Capcom posted a message on the Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two World game’s official website expressing their condolences to the victims of Friday’s earthquake, and also confirmed that the downloadable content had in fact been delayed.

As the announcement was made on the official Japanese site, it is unclear whether or not it applies to the DLC outside of Japan. Overseas gamers are advised to check the official Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Twitter page for any updates. Capcom says that a new date will be posted on the official site when known.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear any more news. Are you looking forward to playing the Shuma-Gorath and Jill DLC?

Earlier on we informed you about further hints about new DLC characters appearing in Marvel Vs Capcom 3, but now we have a release date for the confirmed DLC characters which will be releasing for the Xbox 360 and PS3 soon.

The two characters are Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. You’ll probably be familar with Jill, since she’s a main character in the Resident Evil video games and movies, but you may not know about Shuma Gorath – an alien creature taken from the Marvel comics and previously featured in old Marvel Vs Capcom games.

If you bought the special edition of MvC3, you’ll be able to use your DLC redemption code on March 15th from the Xbox Live Marketplace, or March 16th from the PlayStation store. If you have the normal version of the game though, Valentine and Shuma Gorath will be available for 400 Microsoft points or $5, as reported from Eurogamer.

Will you be paying the money for these extra characters or not? It’s a shame that Capcom didn’t excite us with more ‘glamorous’ characters for the very first character DLC pack. Let’s hope they include some better characters for the next batch. Let us know your thoughts on the Jill Valentine / Shuma Gorath pack.

Check out a gameplay video showing both characters below. There’s a move list here too if you need it.

You may remember a report a few weeks ago which teased at the possibility of Frank West and Dr Octopus appearing in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 as new DLC characters, but now we have some more details to show you, including a supposed leaked screenshot.

An image has appeared online, which apparently ‘confirms’ the inclusion of Frank West from Dead Rising, but also the introduction of Strider, which die hard Marvel Vs Capcom fans will know very well.

Here is the image below just so you can see it, as reported from Destructoid:

There’s a lot of talk that this image has been photoshopped, given that we don’t see any character models for these fighters, instead just a grainy shot of their life bars – it hardly does much to convince us that it’s real we have to admit.

Still though, it’s the second time we’ve heard whispers on Frank West, so perhaps they are real after all. We’ll update you if we hear from Capcom regarding this, or if further details are leaked this week.

What are your opinions on the legitimacy of this image? Do you think it’s a fake or not?

We have some good news for those of you who picked up a copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 3 on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, as we can confirm that the first batch of DLC is now available to download, and it comes in the form of six extra character outfits that you may be interested in.

Priced at $5 or 400 MS points from the respective PS Store and Live Marketplace, the DLC brings new outfits for Ryu, Dante, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and Chris Redfield. The new costumes for Iron Man, Thor and Captain America are taken from the Marvel comic books, Ryu’s costume is his outfit from the very first Street Fighter game, Chris Redfield’s outfit is from the first Resident Evil game, and Dante borrows a ‘Sparda’ outfit which Devil May Cry fans will recognise.

The outfits are pretty cool actually and definitely add that freshness to the game. Hopefully more costumes are on the way, although we’re not sure how gamers will feel paying $5 everytime for a batch of 6 outfits – a reasonable deal for you or not?

If we had to choose, we’d say Iron Man and Chris Redfield look pretty badass in their new outfits, maybe you have a different opinion though. We’ve picked out an excellent video for you which gives you a preview of each outfit, thanks to YouTube user Myron085.

If you have had a good chance to sit down and spend some time with the recently released Marvel Vs Capcom 3 game on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, some of you may be getting frustrated at the growing trend of some online players using one character all the time.

If you have the game, you won’t need us to tell you that the character we’re talking about is Sentinel. We too have heard the complaints that the giant robot seems to have extra vitality compared to other characters, and his selection of moves being overused are starting to take its toll on the hardcore following that lurk in the online servers.

For a little proof on the ‘Sentinel is overpowered’ claim, check out a user video we’ve found on YouTube, which gives you an idea of how easy it is to deplete an opponents lifebar with Sent using an easy ground/air/hyper combo.

Of course there’s always going to be two sides of the story and we bet theres a lot of you who think Sentinel is just fine. One notable person who disagrees with that claim though is professional gamer Justin Wong, just check out his angry Tweet about the game and more importantly, about Sent:

”If you want to win in MVC3, just learn how to play sentinel in 1 minute and your skills will improve dramatically… Time to go back to MVC2.”

So where do you lie on the Sentinel debate in Marvel Vs Capcom 3, is he overpowered or not? One things for sure though, if the heat continues, don’t be surprised if Capcom step in and tweak him in the first update.

You’ll find complete move lists for each character here.
