Since then we have been looking at all the things that MAG has wrong with it and guess what? Today they are releasing a patch that aims to solve a lot of those things and also brings some new features. So let’s have a look at the patch details.

From a weapons perspective there is nothing to exciting, just a slightly widened knifing arc swing, As for general game play this is where the majority of updates appear, when you swap a weapon they have increased the speed of the action, team-mates can’t prevent you from repairing a vehicle or objective when in your line of sight, the cool down time between FRAGOs has been reduced from 10 seconds to 2 seconds and the price of medical kits has been reduced from 800CP to 500CP.

There are also a few modifications to the interface and they are that enemy vehicles now show damage bars when they are attacked with a repair kit, the right text displays in the armoury when you look at the SVER Hazard helmet and there are a few tweaks that have been added for the B and C character slots.

As of 12am PST (3am ET / 8am GMT) on April 29th all MAG players will receive double XP when playing online, players will be rewarded double XP at the end of the match, early quitters will not receive the bonus.

The promotion will end Sunday May 2nd at 11.59 and will even reward double XP to game veterans who already have an XP bonus of their own, this means that the more you have played MAG the more the double XP bonus will reward you.

Someone who has spent many hours with both games has given us an insight and found it interesting what he had said “MAG has 256 players, while BF2 has many less and graphics are better. So it’s kind of a trade off for graphics or many more players in my mind.” We just wonder if our readers agree with what this one gamer said?

What makes MAG different to Modern Warfare 2? Both graphics and tactics, yes Modern Warfare 2 wins hands down when it comes to graphics but it also loses hands down when we talk about tactics during gameplay. MAG finds the balance between graphics, gameplay, and tactics with 256 player battles. This is a real war, in the gaming world.

If you have loved playing games like Age of Empires / Red Alert, and then found yourself in a world of FPS. Now is the time to buy MAG, you get to play a great first person shooting game, and unleash a whole new world of tactics for this type of game.

When you are part of a team of 128 soldiers, you may only be one person but you will be needed any many areas of the battlefield. How will you help out your Squad, Platoon, and Company? Will you heal everyone around you? Will you repair?

The hype surrounding this game has been pretty big, this is mainly due to the fact that online battles can consist of up to 256-online players.

Metacritic have recently put together a lot of reputable reviews, which has resulted in Metacritic averaging out the scores to give the game an impressive metascore of 78.

The highest score came from WonderwallWeb, they scored the game 90 out of 100, you can see their full review here. They say the game “is an instant classic and worthy of a place in everyone’s Playstation 3″.

The most reputable reviews which didn’t seem to be too impressed with the game were from Eurogamer and VideoGamer. Both websites score the game just 70 out of 100, it seems that both reviews seem to think that numbers aren’t everything and would much prefer to have a well polished game with half the limit of online players.

Other reviews worth checking out include GamingXP, Kombo, DigitalChumps, PSXExtreme, Play.tm, StrategyInformer, Desctructoid, TheSixthAxis, Meristation, 3DJuegos, IGN UK, Cheat Code Central, 9Lives and Everyeye.it.

NowGamer thought that it was time to offer their review of the game, which they said was “Technically sound”. The first thing that you need to know is, MAG is all about large-scale military confrontations, so you will need to be prepared for an ugly battle as well as hours of your time.

If you are hoping that MAG being a bigger game than Modern Warfare 2, SOCOM or Battlefield will be any better, then NowGamer warns that you will be disappointed. The game is confusing in the way that you have no idea about the war that you and the other players are fighting in.

If you play MAG with the other players in your team like a well-oiled machine, then the rewards are great. However, if you decide that it is a free-for-all game, then MAG will disappoint, as you will not get to enjoy the depth that the developers have gone too.
