Mafia 2 was at the top of the list, whilst H.A.W.X. 2 was its closest competitor, I very much doubt that it will stay top next week as Halo: Reach will launch at midnight tonight, however I am sure Take Two are more than happy with the game success.

To be honest I think it was pretty clever marketing releasing Mafia 2 when they did, with Halo: Reach, PlayStation Move and Medal of Honor pretty near by a later release date may have resulted in far fewer sales.

It is no secret how big Mafia II is and trying to find those 50 publications will be a huge task, which is why we have found this location guide for you.

Just make certain that your girlfriend or wife is not in the room when you make it your mission to find these Playboy pictures.

First off, we will tell you a little about the game, with players playing the part as a World War II soldier returning to Empire Bay. Vito Scaletta, who is on leave after he’s injured on operations finds himself in the midst of gang related shenanigan and damn ugly Mafia business.

The game, although promising received a mixed body-bag of scores, most of which ended up in the higher tier of of the board.

D’Toid say that the game is worth a rating of 6.5 on the 360, and 7.5 on the PS3 whereas NowGamer say that the best gameplay is with the PC version giving an 8.3, and also give a 8.0 and a 8.1 to 360 and PS3 versions.

JoyStiq and GamePro were less impressed and only managed a 3.5/5 rating aswell as IGN who only give it a 7/10.

G4, CVG, and Multiplayer gave the game the most praise with 4/5, 8/10 and 9/10 respectively.

The demo itself only gives you 10 minutes of game play when in the city, the mission on the demo sees you try and hunt down and kill the fat man, you will have to chase him down through a warehouse whilst his gang tries to kill you.

In the demo you get some hands-on with shotguns, tommy guns and the MG-42, it is hard to ignore the game’s crisp graphics, this combined with pretty good gameplay should results in Mafia 2 becoming one of the best games of its genre.

Mafia 2 the game launches on August 28, expect plenty of high speed car chases and lots of blood and guts.

The demo gives you a taste of what expect from the full game, in the demo you (Vito) and a friend called Joe have to deal with someone who isn’t playing ball with the Mafia, expect to see some gut wrenchingly brutality.

The game launches on all three platforms on the August 28 and is not to be missed, so for now you can have a little taste of things to come from the demo, the demo itself will take a while to download as it is 1GB in size.

A cinematic trailer has recently been released by 2K Games, no gameplay footage is shown, however it does give you a rough idea as to what to expect from the game, including brawls, drive-by shootings and burying alive your enemies.

Gamers play as Vito Scaletta, a World War II soldier returning to Empire Bay on leave after he’s injured on operations. Of course, it’s not long before Vito is up to his neck in the Mafia network of Empire Bay.

Some of the most unique mechanics may also be a hindrance to the gameplay. For instance, cars all use gasoline as a resource, and you need to refill them from time to time if you don’t want to outright steal other cars.

The good news is that a Mafia 2 demo will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC from August 10th, this should give gamers an insight into what to expect before the game’s official release on August 24th.

In this demo you will be able to play the ‘Buzzsaw’ level, this is set in 50′s and in this level Vito, Joe and Henry have to take out a mobster known as ‘The Fat Man’, the demo itself is said to give you a sneak peak at the expansive Empire Bay city.

An exact release date has not yet been revealed, however 2K Czech say that a comprehensive demo will be playable on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC until the games official release, which is scheduled for August 24th.

As the game is launching in late August I would imagine that the demo will be available from early August, however this is my personal prediction and has not been confirmed by 2K Czech.

Prior to this Take-Two stated that they were planning the release of one title during this period, however they weren’t sure what game it would be, other games it could have been include Civilization V, LA Noire, Mafia 2 or Max Payne 3.

The sequel is long over-due as Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven launched eight years ago, Mafia 2 was originally announced back in 2007 at the Leipzig Games Convention, the game will be launched on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
