For some time now you have been able to get the Logitech Ultrathin iPad keyboard cover for the iPad, but now the company has announced the iPad mini version, which we have to say is an elegant cover for Apple’s tablet. However, we do have a small concern over the price, which we will look at in a bit.

The Logitech Ultrathin iPad mini keyboard cover is just like the full size version, so it’s not only a keyboard but also a protective case and stand as well. While it is very light and trendy, we don’t think it looks as funky as Microsoft’s Surface Pro with the clip on keyboard, although Microsoft are trying to gain the attention of the younger audience – just as Apple did with the iPod many years ago.

Through the use of Bluetooth the keyboard/case will pair with your iPad mini and then allow you to use the standard size keyboard and layout in order to go about your daily business. The third-party accessory certainly helps to improve productivity with its short commands.

Looking at the video, thanks to Logitech Blog, you can see just how quickly you can attach and detach the Ultrathin keyboard cover for the iPad mini, but we have to wonder if you will still be interested knowing that you’ll have to part with $79.99 in the US and £59.99 in the UK?

For some iPad mini owners they would much prefer to pay $50 less and go with the Moko Smart Type Cover instead, although it does have an unusual key layout. Having said that, I find that I can type just fine with the touchscreen on the iPad because it just takes practice.

A few months ago I had a dilemma on my hands, should I go for a half decent Samsung Smart TV, or do I pay the extra and have the model that comes with the built-in camera. I had to ask myself what I would use the extra features for and while it would have been good to do the video calling, it wasn’t worth paying the extra for the other benefits. The good news is you can achieve one of those features thanks to the Logitech TV cam, which simplifies HD video calling on Skype.

With having a few friends that live in other countries it’s certainly nice to stay in touch and while I can already do this on my 27-inch iMac, there nothing better than sitting in the comfort of your living room and having a video chat with a friend on the couch on a 46-inch screen in HD. There’s also the added benefit that the video chat will be in HD, although both parties will need to have the Logitech TV Cam HD in order to benefit from the improved quality.

To take advantage of the Logitech TV Cam with Skype video chat in HD all you need to do is to connect it to your HDMI port on any TV and then clip it to your television. However, there’s no need to connect the device to a computer because Skype is built in. Now you may worry that you could miss a call when your TV is off, but you will be pleased to know that Logitech’s cam will ring even if the TV is switched off, and if you do miss it there’s also voice mail.

The Logitech TV Cam HD price in the US is $199.99 and £179.99 in the UK and while this sounds like a lot to pay, you have to consider what you will be getting. Apart from what we mentioned above there is also the benefit of a wide-angled view, which means it can take in more of your surroundings as well as the fact that the camera can work in low-light conditions. To see this device in action take a look at the video embedded below.

Logitech unveils C615 HD Webcam: Enables HD 720p video chat http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/06/14/logitech-unveils-c615-hd-webcam-enables-hd-720p-video-chat/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/06/14/logitech-unveils-c615-hd-webcam-enables-hd-720p-video-chat/#comments Tue, 14 Jun 2011 12:26:02 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=134440 We all know how nice it can be to keep in touch with friends and family that live too far away to visit as often as you’d like, and one of the best ways to do this is probably through video chat. Thanks to the recently unveiled Logitech C615 HD webcam, you can now stay in contact via HD 720p video calls.

As Michael Gorman from Engadget notes, the C615 HD webcam features a fold-and-go design and is compatible with both the Mac and PC. The C615 enables users to make HD 720p video calls on a number of video chat services including Skype, Windows Live Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger and FaceTime for Mac.

The Logitech HD Webcam C615 also features HD video uploading to Twitter and YouTube, as well as one-click photo and video uploading to Facebook. The device comes with an integrated microphone and built-in autofocus that ensures razor sharp picture quality.

To provide users with some extra flexibility, the Logitech HD Webcam C615 – which can also capture 8-megapixel stills – comes with a tripod-ready design and a 3-foot USB cable with extender. This enables users to capture HD video from any vantage point.

The Logitech C615 webcam will be available in the United States sometime in June for a suggested price of $79.99. Those who live in Asia and Europe can expect it to arrive in September. Are you looking for a new webcam?

Logitech reveals Touch Lapdesk N600 with multi-touch trackpad http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/06/08/logitech-reveals-touch-lapdesk-n600-with-multi-touch-trackpad/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/06/08/logitech-reveals-touch-lapdesk-n600-with-multi-touch-trackpad/#comments Wed, 08 Jun 2011 13:00:46 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=133792 We have some interesting news now for those of you that are thinking of buying a lapdock to use with your laptop or notebook, as peripheral manufacturer Logitech has recently revealed the new Touch Lapdesk N600, which comes with a multi-touch trackpad.

As Sean Hollister over on the engadget.com website recently noted, the Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600’s hollow frame houses a retractable surface that features a 5 inch, 3-finger multi-touch panel, some multimedia keys and a pair of left and right mouse buttons.

The device is powered by four AA batteries, which Logitech says provides around six months of usage. The Touch Lapdesk N600 comes with an anti-slip surface to keep your laptop in place, and a multi-layer heat-shielding design that protects you from the heat generated from the laptop.

All you have to do to get started is simply plug the Logitech Unifying receiver into the USB port on your laptop, and you’re good to go. However, unlike the device’s immediate predecessors, the Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600 doesn’t come with a fan or any speakers.

The device is expected to become available in both the US and Europe very soon, for a suggested price of $69.99. Would you pay $70 for the Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600?

Logitech keyboard cases added to its tablet accessories line http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/19/logitech-keyboard-cases-added-to-its-tablet-accessories-line/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/19/logitech-keyboard-cases-added-to-its-tablet-accessories-line/#comments Thu, 19 May 2011 14:29:57 +0000 Chris Cook http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=131450 There are already a great deal of tablet accessories out there on the market, never the less if you’re looking for a keyboard accessory which also doubles up as a case then Logitech’s new keyboard cases for Android and iOS tablets will be ideal for you.

Skype With 2011 Panasonic Connected TV and Logitech Cam http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/03/skype-with-2011-panasonic-connected-tv-and-logitech-cam/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/03/skype-with-2011-panasonic-connected-tv-and-logitech-cam/#comments Tue, 03 May 2011 11:21:10 +0000 Chris Cook http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=129412 As the competition for connected TV continues to heat up, Skype also continues to expand by offering its services across the technology board. The latest news sees a three way relationship emerge between Panasonic, Skype and Logitech

If you are the owner of a Panasonic Viera Connect HDTV which is Skype compatible you may feel that it lacks in visual capabilities when it comes to video calling. This no longer has to be the case, as we find out with today’s news, thanks to Logitech.

The company has produced a TV camera which allows for up to 720p viewing. This will now allow for high-latency video calling making the experience all the more worthwhile. Although it is said to have similarities to the camera which can be used for the Google TV device the Revue, it lacks the full 1080p video.

The Logitech TV Cam features blue lighting for a futuristic look and will be made available before the end of the month. $149.99 will be enough to get your hands on one if you are interested, and a full press release with more details can be found at Engadget by clicking the link.

What do you think of the new TV Cam from Logitech? Will you be getting one in order to enhance your TV video calling? Let us know in the comments below.

Hands-on: Logitech Ultimate Ears 200vi With Noise Isolation http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/03/24/hand-on-logitech-ultimate-ears-200vi-with-noise-isolation/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/03/24/hand-on-logitech-ultimate-ears-200vi-with-noise-isolation/#comments Thu, 24 Mar 2011 15:56:19 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=124318 We were sent a set of Logitech Ultimate Ears 200vi With Noise Isolation at the start of March, and it has taken this long to offer a review for a very good reason. That reason was because I was due to go on Holiday on March 7th, and thought what better way to try them out while out and about instead of at home.

My holiday was on the Nile in Egypt, so I already knew that after I have seen the temples I would be sitting on the top deck next to the pool. This was going to be the ideal testing ground, as there will be some noise from people in the pool, as well as other ships passing along the Nile – what better way to try out the Noise Isolation Feature.

It is said that Logitech Ultimate Ears are used by some of the top musicians, but as the 200vi come with a cheap price tag, these will be more for the average consumer. Having said that, £34.99 is still more than most consumers would pay for a set of in-ear headphones.

The first thing you will notice when you take the headphones out of the packaging is just how light they are, this is because of the plastic design. Other headphones like this we have reviewed in the past has some metal parts around the speakers, and it is this that adds to the weight.

Once you have unpacked everything you will see that there are five different size ear cushions to choose from – so you can no longer say that headphones like these will not fit you. The other bonus is that they have been made with a material that will not make you sweat.

So now that everything was unpacked, they had to be put away in my hand luggage – only to see the light of day again in Egypt. Oh, forget to mention that they came in a handy case, which is great to help protect them from getting damaged.

The moment that they went in my ears most of the outside noise was cancelled out, this is all thanks to Logitech’s Noise-isolating design. However, the annoying aspect of this is you can hear the slightest noise when you touch the headphone lead. It is certainly strange and took some time to get used too, although I have to admit that it is a small price to pay for not hearing most of the outside noise.

I can still remember the first song I listened too, as it is the one that I always use when reviewing headphones, this makes it much easier to know just how good they are. Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas is good, as it gives you the chance to see how well the Ultimate Ears 200vi perform when introduced to a lot of bass.

I mostly listen to my music at halfway on my iPhone 4, and things certainly sounded great, with the bass level sounding nice and at a comfortable level. However, things went a little downhill when the volume was turned up louder. The first increase was setting the volume at three quarters, and you can tell that the headset was struggling a little. Having said that, most of us would never go up that loud, as these Ultimate Ears 200vi are much louder at that level than those supplied to you by Apple.

My next song had to be something smooth with no loud baselines, so opted for a Craig David song. People might be laughing about now, but he has such a smooth voice and was ideal for this next test. The song was Just My Imagination and only has a guitar and drums, as well as his voice. This makes it ideal to test Logitech’s Sweet Sound feature, which they say has been “Engineered for faithful audio reproduction”.

The moment the song came on I was surprised with the clarity, as the sound was certainly sweet. Even turning the volume up to three-quarters did not distort anything, but it was just too loud to enjoy – I am shocked at high loud these little things can go.

Over the course of my two-week holiday I had used the headset a number of times, and they never ached once. Another added feature that I got to try out was when I received a few phones calls. The quality of the call was just like you get when listening to music, and much better than most Bluetooth headsets, as the noise cancellation feature came in handy.

You will notice from our images that there are controls on the cord; these allow you to adjust the volume, as well as change or pause a track and answers calls as well – making life much-easier.

The Logitech Ultimate Ears 200vi come in a choice of three colours, black, pink and blue, and as we mentioned, cost just £34.99. If you are not bothered with heavy baselines and that strange stethoscope like sensation then you cannot go wrong with these headphones, they are not that expensive, and much louder than most others in that price range.

Main specs include:

  • Cable length: 115 cm
  • Frequency response (mic): 200 Hz–10 kHz
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz–20 kHz
  • Impedance: 16 ohms
  • Noise isolation: 26 dB
  • Product weight: 12 g
  • Sensitivity (mic): -58 dBV/Pa
  • Sensitivity: 107 dB/mW (1 kHz)

Logitech M515 Mouse: Battery Life, Price and Features http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/01/21/logitech-m515-mouse-battery-life-price-and-features/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/01/21/logitech-m515-mouse-battery-life-price-and-features/#comments Fri, 21 Jan 2011 14:17:46 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=119497 Over the years there have been a number of mouse designs that were supposed to work on different surfaces, but none have been made to work just on a sofa – until now. The Logitech Wireless Mouse M515 has a cover over the laser, which means that nothing gets caught up on material as it can often do with other mice that have theirs exposed.

Engadget said that this is good, because there will be no build-up of dirt or dust, which is still an issue with most other mice on the market. Now you will be able to go to bed early with your laptop and not worry about your mouse getting all caught up and snagged all the time.

However, that’s not the best part, the two-year battery life is. I do not think that I have ever had a battery last me that long in anything I own – not even a watch. The reason for this long-life is thanks toLogitech and its new a hand-detection sensor, so if your hand is taken off the mouse it will go into sleep mode. Expect the device to be launched in April with a price of £49.99.

I would not usually buy a device like this just because of a gimmick or two, but you have to admit that this is a good product – one that will not break the bank. We have yet to see the M515 Wireless Mouse appear on the Logitech website, keep visiting as it gets closer to April.
