Just like the Windows version, Limera1n for Mac supports a collection of iOS 4.1 devices. These include the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G / 3G and also the Apple iPad.

The tutorial comes to you courtesy of RedmondPie, who states that the process is actually the same as one would follow for installing onto Windows.

There are a lot of different problems people are experiencing, so let’s start with the obvious solutions, first of all at the moment LimeRa1n is for Windows only, therefore if you are running Linux or Mac OS X you will not be able to use the jailbreak.

One of the most common problems results in iPhones getting stuck on the Apple logo, if this is what is happening to you check out this very useful post. If your iPhone is stuck on the Limera1n logo you should try rebooting your iPhone, if this fails try a hard reset (instructions here).

If you are trying to run Limera1n on Windows Vista or Windows 7 you may need to try running the program is administrator, to do this simply right click on Limera1n and click “run as administrator”.

Now I have great news for iPad owners that run the 3.2.2 version of Apple’s iOS and want to Jailbreak their device. According to Taimur Asad over at redmondpie.com, you can now do that and he provides a complete guide on how it’s done.

Here are some simple steps that will help you Jailbreak your iPad: first is to download the software from limera1n.com. Then link the iPad to a PC via the USB port, and a box will appear with a button saying make it ra1n. Once you have clicked that, the device will start to go into recovery mode.

From there you just have to follow the instructions telling you to hold down the home + power buttons, then release the power button. After that, the iPad will go into DFU mode for the last step, which is to launch Limera1n followed by installing Cydia and restarting the device.

If you haven’t heard, Geohot has come out of hiding and announced that his new jailbreak Limera1n will be available on Monday 11th October, just a single day after GreenPois0n is released.

Talk about stealing someones thunder. While everyone patiently waited for the Chronic Dev-Team to announce a release date for GreenPois0n, little did we know that Geohot was waiting to pounce. Could he of known that GreenPois0n would only support the new iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4 months ago?

The Chronic Dev-Team only announced supported devices recently, which was met by global disappointment due to the fact that users were under the impression that GreenPois0n would jailbreak all devices – enter GeoHot.

Just hours after Chronic Dev-Team announced a 10/10/10 release date for GreenPois0n, Geohot announced that Limera1n would be available the next day and that it would jailbreak ALL devices with a new bootrom exploit, i.e the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Obviously, those of you with an iPhone 3G or 3GS are delighted by the timing of his jailbreak, but I doubt the Chronic Dev-Team are. What are your thoughts on this? According to this report from RedmondPie, Geohot has created a new bootrom exploit for LimeRa1n, meaning that the new version will support the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch 3G, along with the new iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G.

If you didn’t know, Geohot seemingly quit the jailbreak scene a few months ago, deleting his Twitter account as well – so this is definitely a surprise for everyone – including the Chronic Dev-Team who will be releasing GreenPois0n on Sunday.
