If you have been keeping a close eye on developments regarding future Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates, you’ll know that there was a mini saga brewing on whether or not the LG Optimus One would receive an update or not.

Well, in the last few hours, we’re pleased to say that this debate has been cleared up by LG themselves, as they have now apologised for previous misunderstandings and have confirmed that the Optimus One will indeed receive an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread at some point next year.

We initially told you that LG updated their Facebook page with a comment that suggested that Gingerbread wouldn’t be available on the Optimus One since it didn’t have a 1Ghz processor, but it looks like the person responsible for providing that info was ill-informed.

Here is what LG has now said to clear everything up for those concerned:

“LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course.”

Do you have an Optimus One? If you do, then you must be delighted with the news. Meanwhile, Samsung are making Galaxy S owners sweat over their update to Gingerbread, but HTC seem more positive on delivering the goods to their users.

What are your thoughts on the whole Gingerbread update bandwagon?

Blink and you will miss yet another Google Android handset, the latest is the LG Optimus One, which was confirmed back in September. There is no denying that the Korean phone produces makes some sexy looking phones, and the sleek looks of this one is no exception – oh did we forget to mention that it runs on Froyo?

So we know that the handset has the looks, but some of the hardware seems to let it down – such as the 600 MHz processor. The CPU is still more than capable of doing the job, but we have come to expect phones with 1GHz and above.

The Optimus One only has 170MB of memory, but has something that the iPhone does not – an external Micro SD car slot. You get a 3.2-inch display and a 3-megapixel camera – again a bit low for today’s phones. However, do not let those minor things put you off, as this is only a mid-range phone and nothing more.

According to PC Advisor, those of you interested in the LG Optimus One, then T-mobile and Orange have the handset on offer from just £20 per month. Does this handset have enough power for your needs, or are you looking for something with more features?

Recently at IFA 2010 LG officially revealed the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic, now we have come across a release date, and it’s not too far away.

According to a recent SlashGear article it seems as if both smartphones should become available from September 14th, as we already know these arent high-end smartphones, but should be pretty good mid-end devices.

If you want to find out more about these smartphones check out our previous article, at the moment we do not have a full spec breakdown or a price, therefore we will have to keep you posted.

I think that these mid-end devices will really put pressure on Nokia’s similar offerings, let’s face it access to the Android market and a touch screen display sounds quite appealing.

Will you buy one of these LG smartphones?

2010 has been a quiet year in terms of LG smartphones, however recently at IFA 2010 two new Android-powered Google smartphones were revealed, these devices should do well in the low-end market.

These two handsets are the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic, these devices will probably go head to head with Nokia’s S60 handsets, and I must say these Android devices look far more appealing.

Full specs have not yet been released, therefore we will have to keep you posted. To be honest though a touch screen device running Android with access to the Android Market sounds a lot more appealing than any S60-based smartphone we have ever seen.

As more details come in we will do our best to keep you up-to-date, for more information check out the source link below.

Do you think these devices will shake up the low-end market?
