Recently the guys over at Engadget spotted a screenshot which confirms that the LG Optimus Pad is coming to Rogers, not only this but it also told us when it would arrive and how much it will cost.

There are plenty of purchase options available, you can buy it outright for $699 or for a month-to-month deal you have to pay $649. If you do not mind signing up to a contract you can pay $600 for a 1-year deal, $530 for a two-year deal or $450 for a three-year deal. all of these options will be available from May 17th onwards.

Just in case you wasn’t aware the LG Optimus Pad is known in some areas as the LG G-Slate, it has an 8.9-inch display, 2D and 3D capture, a 1GHz dual-core processor, HDMI-out, a memory card slot which allows for up to 32GB of storage, Android 3.0 and both front and rear cameras. As you would expect there is also Adobe Flash and HTML5 support.

Cnet recently reviewed the Optimus Pad and could not find many imperfections, they like its lightweight design, fast performance, Android OS and 2D and 3D capture, one thing they did say is that the 8.9-inch display might not suit everyone’s needs,

Will you buy the LG Optimus Pad from Rogers? If so, do you think the prices are fair? Which option will you choose? Let us know in the comments section below.

We have some good news for those of you planning to get the impressive LG G-Slate tablet, as it looks like the official release date has just been revealed for it’s highly anticipated launch at T-Mobile. Best of all, it’s going to be available this week!

LG or T-Mobile still haven’t revealed official plans for the Android 3.0 device, although consumers had previously expected this to come out last month. Obviously it didn’t happen, but the good news is that new information acquired by TMoNews suggests that the G-Slate will finally be available to buy on April 20th, i.e within the next 24 hours.

Just to refresh, the device is definitely gaining a lot of attention, due to the fact that not only is it an Honeycomb tablet, but it also comes with great hardware specs such as a 1Ghz Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a 5 megapixel 3D rear camera and a separate 2MP front-facing camera for video chat.

How many of you have waited for the G-Slate to release on T-Mobile? Or have some of you already jumped the gun and picked up say, a Motorola Xoom with similar specs?

Update: We’ve just been informed about this updated page on the official T-Mobile Blog, indeed stating that the G-Slate will launch on April 20th, for $529.99 on a two year contract with T-Mobile after a $100 mail-in rebate. Great news then.

We have more on the LG G-Slate tablet now, and by more we mean a brand new hands-on video of the device which has just been captured at the ongoing CTIA 2011 event. The device is due for release soon, and is definitely turning a few heads with it’s impressive hardware capabilities.

The video has been provided by the guys over at Android Central, and it’s actually a video showing the official unveiling by LG at CTIA 2011. We get an introduction to some of the specs on the device by the lovely ‘LG girl’ followed by a look at how the device handles multimedia tasks such as 3D gaming using the accelerometer – the game played is actually Need for Speed Shift if you were wondering why the graphics were so good.

We then see how the web browser handles on the G-Slate and if you look at the video, you’ll see just how responsive scrolling through the pages is – which is probably due to the included 1Ghz Tegra 2 dual-core processor which powers the device.

Finally, there’s a quick look at the camcorder on the G-Slate and a reminder that the device will be able to shoot 3D videos. Take a look at the video below and let us know if you’re impressed with the G-Slate or not. It’s out sometime this month, priced at $529 on contract with T-Mobile.

We informed you recently about the long overdue announcement of official pricing for RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook. Now that we know it’s going to cost $500 for the WiFi model, how does the price compare to other tablets that are already out or due in the next few months?

The Playbook is a tablet which is very much on a lot of your shopping lists. Likely reasons are the fact that it is more business orientated that the other tablets, although it’s multimedia features are definitely up to par with other tablets on the market. Aside from running on a brand new BlackBerry OS designed specifically for the Playbook, you’ll also get a 1Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and two HD 1080P cameras (5MP back, 3MP front),

Along with the pricing, we now also know that the Playbook will be coming to AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, so it will also be 4G supported on Sprint at least. But does the $500 price tag along with the hardware specs and features appeal to you, compared with other tablets?

The entry level WiFi iPad 2 is also priced at $499, while the Motorola Xoom comes in at $599 for the WiFi version. Just this week we learned that the LG G-Slate will be priced at $529 after a $100 mail-in rebate, but this includes 4G support via T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, which you don’t get on other tablets. As for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, pricing is yet to be disclosed, but it’s likely to fall between the $499 and $599 price mark for the WiFi version at least.

With this in mind, which tablet offers the best value? We have to say that the G-Slate is a good bet at $529, since that price includes 4G network speeds. Is the BlackBerry Playbook appealing to you at $499 or not?

The last time we spoke about the upcoming LG G-Slate and the T-Mobile G2X, also known as the LG Optimus 2X, we were telling you about rumored release dates for both devices. Now we have some official news for you, in relation to pricing and release availability.

Firstly, LG has just announced the G2X officially, which is the US version of the Optimus 2X, and it will be coming to T-Mobile before anywhere else, just like the G-Slate which we’ll get on to later. The device features a Nvidia 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a 4-inch display screen, 512MB RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and 8GB of storage which is expandable via MicroSD card.

The device will run on a stock version of Android 2.2 Froyo, with an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread already confirmed sometime after release. When can you get your hands on it at T-Mobile? Sometime this Spring according to Engadget, no word on an exact date or price yet.

As for the impressive looking G-Slate tablet, LG has just confirmed pricing for the device. It will be available for $529 USD on a two-year contract with T-Mobile, making it slightly cheaper than the Motorola Xoom which is $599 for the WiFi version, as reported from Engadget. However, that $529 price for the G-Slate also includes support for T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network, and the specs are pretty impressive too – Honeycomb, 3D Camera, dual-core Tegra 2 chip, and 1080p video recording.

Again no release date for the G-Slate though, we’ll let you know once T-Mobile and LG announce it. What are your thoughts on both sets of information? Are you interested in picking up both the G2X and G-Slate? Are you happy with the $529 price point or not?

We have some good news for those of you who are looking forward to LG’s collection of impressive devices. By this we’re talking about the Optimus 2X smartphone and the G-Slate tablet, both of which are heading to T-Mobile in the coming weeks.

As it often happens in the industry, products are given different names depending on which carrier they go to in Europe or United States. The same thing applies here with these two. The G-Slate is coming to T-Mobile but you may also know it as the LG Optimus Pad.

The dual-core equipped Optimux 2X is already available in Korea, but it will be landing on T-Mobile as the G2X – not sure if we dig that name just yet. Anyway, the real news here is that we have a new rumored release date courtesy of BGR. That date is April 20th, and is apparently the date in which both devices will arrive.

Just to recap, the G2X features a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 3D camera and 1080p video recording, while the G-Slate tablet which we’ve been really impressed with, runs on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, has the same 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor and also comes with a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.

Are you going to be picking up either device on T-Mobile? We have a feeling that the G2X smartphone is going to be very popular, what with that dual-core processor and 3D camera combo.

We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up the LG G-Slate or Optimus Pad as it’s also known, as one online retailer has decided to post their pre-order price for the dual-core equipped tablet, giving you an indication on how it fairs against other tablets on the market.

The retailer in question is Mobile City, and if you head to their listing here, you’ll see that they have priced the LG G-Slate at $699.99, and they’ve also included the apparent retail price at $799, as reported from Phandroid.

If the information is true, then it means that LG’s device will be $100 cheaper than the just released Motorola Xoom tablet on Verizon, and will provide T-Mobile fans with a major incentive to pick one up on launch.

Dont forget that just like the Xoom, the G-Slate will feature a 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 processor and will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb. You could also argue that the G-Slate possesses better features than the Xoom, as it will also come with a fully functional 3D camera, allowing users to take 3D photos and even record videos in 3D as well – a feature which LG can boast proudly.

What are your thoughts on this potential price? We think that $699 is very reasonable indeed for the G-Slate – do you agree?

If we can say one thing about this year’s Mobile World Congress, it’s the fact that manufacturers have made it increasingly difficult for consumers to decide on which tablet device is best for them. It’s definitely not about the iPad anymore.

After CES 2011, all the talk was about the Motorola Xoom, and how it would be the first tablet to bring Android 3.0 Honeycomb to the table, but MWC 2011 has changed everything. It now seems like the Xoom on Verizon could be a expensive mistake.

Why do we say this? Largely because Samsung has just unveiled their successor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and it packs some serious hardware capabilities. Like the Motorola Xoom, it will come with a 1Ghz dual-core processor and Android 3.0 Honeycomb as it’s main features. Then you’ll also get 1080p recording and playback capabilities, and a reasonable quality 2MP front-facing camera along with the 8 megapixel sensor on the back.

We’re putting our support behind the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as it seems like the better package compared to the Motorola Xoom. You may disagree with us on that one, but don’t forget there’s also the LG G-Slate tablet, which is yet another dual-core Tegra 2, Honeycomb combo to consider. Engadget has compiled a useful image gallery letting you see how all three tablets compare, side by side with one another.

Which tablet are you going to buy in 2011 – The Xoom, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the G-Slate?

If you are planning on getting the impressive looking LG G-Slate Tablet when it makes an appearance in the US and Europe, you’ll definitely want to check out a new video of the device which has just been uploaded to YouTube.

As reported from Engadget, the G-Slate or the Optimus Pad as it is also known will be making it’s long awaited appearance at the Mobile World Congress, which kicks off in Barcelona on February 14th.

The video gives us a quick run-through of the key features which will be present in the G-Slate, and it’s fair to say that they are very impressive indeed. Aside from running on the newest version of Android (3.0 Honeycomb), the G-Slate will also feature a 8.9-inch 3D display, a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a front facing camera, and also a back camera capable of snapping 3D photos.

If that is not enough for you, the G-Slate will also have support for 1080p video recording and 32GB of storage memory to play around with. Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts on it.

We’ve said it before, but this device definitely has to be a contender to the Apple iPad. The Motorola Xoom looks impressive too, but it’s the G-Slate that we’re really looking forward to.

So far Google Android tablets have seen quite a lot of success despite the OS not being optimized for tablets, however many believe that we will see the true potential of Android tablets when Google reveal their first-ever tablet-centric Android version, this will go ahead tomorrow when they hold an Android 3.0 Honeycomb event at their Mountain View campus.

From what we can see this event will give us “A Taste of What’s New From Android”, according to Wikipedia we may see refined multi-tasking, a three dimension desktop, new widgets, a new UI optimized for tablets, video chat support in Google Talk, a wide-rang of web browsing enhancements, multi-core processor support and hardware acceleration.

Obviously to show off the new Android version they will need a Android 3.0 compliant tablet at hand, therefore don’t be too surprised if we get to see some hands-on time with the Motorola Xoom or the LG G-Slate.

It will be interesting to see what Google have up their sleeves with this OS release, if they get it right they could steal some potential iPad 2 customers, however if they get things wrong the iPad 2 will undoubtedly build on the success that the original iPad saw.

So far all of the Honeycomb news we have heard surrounds tablets, however as IntoMobile point out they could be working on a version of Honeycomb for smartphones, if so I am sure that multi-core processor support, hardware acceleration, web browsing enhancements and video support in GTalk wil go down well with Android smartphone owners.
