Whenever I think of my childhood I start to look back at what cars had that certain something. It’s no secret that the Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari F40 and the Porsche 959 were all at the top of the list. However, they were always out of reach, and never got to even see one. That was not the case with the Toyota Supra, and although it was not in the league of those dream cars, it was one that could be seen by us mere mortals.

You might wonder why we feel the need to bring the subject up, well we came across a concept of what one guy believes what the Supra MK IV should be, and we cannot help but see a little bit of the Lexus LFA in there. There is still no confirmation from Toyota about reintroducing the much loved model from all those years ago, but looking at what wonders they can do nowadays – we do hope so.

Back in the day the Supra was all about horsepower, and we hope to see that once again, but there will have to be a few changes. Although the car used to look great, it was always one that failed in many areas, such as handling and speed. However, the Japanese carmaker will be able to take the knowledge from the LFA and put them to good use in the new Supra.

We think we will call the Toyota Supra MK IV an LFA Lite. Having said that, looking at the concept drawings created by Andreas Fougner, the Supra will be more refined – well if they were to go by these. There are six images in all, which you can see for yourself here. Car enthusiasts will see that the old and the new have inspired Fougner.

It’s too early to say what specs the new Supra would have, but we know that the engine will have to be powerful yet smooth, and the car itself will need to be light and have the handling to match.

Let us know some of your ideas of what you think the new Supra should have.

Since the Lexus LFA first came out last summer we have seen one or two limited editions. The latest to be released is from CEC, a tuner company based in LA; but how does it compare to offer versions of the supercar/sports car? Well the simple answer is pretty good, as this new model is more about aesthetics and not performance – much like the others

Autoblog explains how CEC has still managed to get another 10hp out of that already powerful 4.8-liter V10, which is the same as the Nurburgring Edition. We knew that the price of that model was going to be $445,000 to $465,000, but Drew Phillips from Autoblog believes that the CEC version will have an even higher price tag.

There are those of you out there who wonders why they just do not put an engine in that will create more than 10 extra horsepower, but you have to remember that doing that can change all the characteristics of how the car handles. Lexus and Toyota would have spent millions on R&D, so they have done all they can to get the LFA to handle and perform as it does.

Bugatti had this same issue with the Veyron when developing the SS version, as they knew if they wanted to increase the top speed by just 10mph, then they need to put an even bigger engine in. We are not talking about 10 or even 50 extra horsepower here, as the faster you go the harder it is to push through the air at speed. So a much larger engine is needed, and that will not work with a car like the LFA, as it will give it a negative result on the racetrack, which is what the car is designed for.

CEC has been a fan of the Lexus LFA since it was launched in 2010, so much so that the boss of the company was caught speeding in one. He was doing 91mph in a 35mph zone, which you can see for yourself in the video that we have embedded for you below.

There has been a report that Toyota was looking to get their hands dirty again by competing in motorsport. However, this time they will be using another brand to enter the GT series with the Lexus LFA supercar / sports car.

If the Japanese automaker decides to do this, then the LFA will be in direct competition with the Nissan GT-R. Sam Abuelsamid from Autoblog believes that this is a bit of a comedown for the LFA and believes that Toyota should consider GT2 instead.

Having a $375,000 compete in GT1 seems to be the wrong move and could do the Lexus LFA serious damage to its image – especially if the much cheaper GT-R will beat it in a race,

Peter Lyon from Motor Trend points out that Toyota would be able to claw back some of its R&D costs by competing in Japan’s GT series. Lets just hope that they do not crash too many, as they have a much higher ticket price than some of the other competing cars.

Last year Toyota showed off to the world their new Lexus LFA supercar, but they left it for a while to inform us that it will be on a lease only option in the U.S. Instead of paying the $375,000 price tag as other countries would those in North America would have to sign a two-year lease agreement, then after two years they have the option to buy the sports car for almost $300,000.

According to Autoblog it now seems as if Toyota has had a change of heart and will allow those in the U.S to buy the Lexus LFA outright. However, they will have to sign an agreement that if they wish to sell the car within two years, then they will have to sell it back to the dealer.

That dealer will then buy back the LFA for the market rate or the original price that the owner paid, whichever is the lower value. If for some reason the owner does not sell the vehicle back to the dealer, they will then have to pay the dealer the difference of what he had purchased the car for and sold it for – along with any legal fees.

You cannot blame Toyota for doing such a thing, the Lexus LFA is expected to be a much sought after car and could increase in value – so wants to try and deter those trying to make a quick buck.

Will this new deal deter those from trying to make money for the Lexus LFA?

Recently with have posted information on the Lexus LFA, which has included details of a full review, price, the latest pictures, and specs. The older Nissan GT-R has not had much coverage, but it’s still seen as a solid car that’s up to the challenge.

We have had a couple of requests for a comparison, Lexus LFA vs. Nissan GTR, so we hunted down a full review that was carried out this year. This comes to us thanks to Auto Rivals, and they take a look at the best and worst of both cars.

The all-new LFA has heated up the automotive industry, and Auto Rivals feel this is due to the image Lexus has given up to now. The new Lexus LFA is said to rival the best cars from Italy, Germany, England, America, and other areas of the world.

If we look at the price, the estimated $350,000 – $375,000 for the LFA is crazy when compared to $80,000 for Nissan’s 2010 GT-R. Especially when Auto Rivals state the LFA “still can’t dominate a GT-R”.

Read the pros and cons of both cars, and the detailed review here. Then feel free to share your thoughts on both cars in the comments.

In a number of posts that we did on the upcoming Lexus LFA we had stated that the 500 units that Toyota planned to build were already sold by pre-order – this has turned out to be false. We do not know where the rumor came from about this latest supercar being sold out came from, but it was a little premature.

We are not certain why people will want to purchase an LFA, as it is a strange leasing term. The buyer will put their money down and then sign a non-transferable lease for two years – they then have the option to buy the supercar at the end of that term. Hope you understand that, as it is a strange one?

Toyota believe that this is the best way to stop investors purchasing one and then flip it – so it does not sound that stupid after all. This does make sense, as there would be a huge market for such an exotic car, as only 500 are being made.

Well we say that, we reported recently that Lexus and Toyota are to produce 50 Nurburgring Edition LFA supercars. Going back to the story of these vehicles being sold out, Damon Lavrinc from Autoblog has learned that Lexus has received 500 interests for the LFA, but we know this is different to confirming by putting their money where their mouth is.

The Lexus LFA Supercar is a front-engine vehicle with all the power going to its rear wheels. This is no family car as this two-door supercar has room for just two passengers. The price is £350,000 and will be on our streets from December 2010 – although there have been conflicting reports that Toyota have now sold out as all 500 pre-orders have now been sold.

Lexus is knows for smooth and boring, so the LFA is a huge change for them. Who would ever have thought that you would have a Lexus pitted against the likes of Ferrari?

That engine that we mentioned above is a V10 and will produce 553 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of Torque. That’s enough power to propel the car from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 202mph. That’s enough to challenge most supercars on the road today.

Most supercars are not very kind to the environment and do not do much to the gallon, Toyota have worked with Yamaha on this special engine – add to that the lightweight frame and body and you have a vehicle that is capable of 14mpg in the city and 20mpg on the highway.

If you want something a little special, then we recently reported that Lexus is to build 50 Nurburgring Edition versions. For this you will only get 10hp more and a much-improved gearbox. There is also a choice if a $20,000 paint job.

The Lexus LFA supercar should be delivered to proud owners in December, there have been reports that all 500 units are now sold, but it seems that this could not be true – we will get to that in another post. We thought we would take a closer look at this latest car from Toyota’s Lexus.

As we mentioned above, the LFA will not be available until December – this has not stopped experts such as Car and Driver getting their hands on one for a test drive so they can offer their readers a full review of the vehicle. The best thing about the review is how they test-drove the Lexus supercar on the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife track.

The first thing you need to know is how exotic the car looks, well it needs to be as this $350,000 vehicle will take on the likes of Ferrari and McLaren. In the past Lexus has been known for making boring cars – you cannot say that about the LFA. If there was ever an alternate universe – then this will be there.

The Lexus LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V-10 – Toyota had a little help from Yamaha to help it develop 553 horsepower, giving it a top speed of over 200mph. More details on this can be found on our recent spec post.

There is no hiding the fact that the LFA looks like no other Lexus, the sharp edges is something that Ferrari or Lamborghini would have come up with. Lexus had a choice of three engines, a V8, but that proved too slow, a V12, but that was a heavy lump to carry – so the V10 got the job and what a sweet sound it makes. If you do not believe me then check out this recent post where the exhaust note was able to shatter a champagne glass.

The Lexus LFA supercar will not be available until December, for those who were hoping to get their hands on one of these exotic sports cars – then we have to inform you that the 500 units have now all been sold. The production version of the LFA has a price tag of $375,000, but there is a more expensive Nurburgring Edition.

The Lexus LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V10 engine, which delivers 560 horsepower and propels the car to 203mph and a 0 to 60 time of 4.4 seconds. We showed you a video of the LFA pitted against a Nissan GT-R, the latter did much better on the start before the former got its legs. The reason for this is because the Lexus supercar is powered by the rear wheels – so takes time to get all that traction under control.

Each LFA is to be built by hand; users will be able to choose what color they ant the exterior and interior, along with seats, brake calipers and other design features. It is thought that there are over 30 billion color combinations.

The chassis is made from a light yet strong carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, which we discussed in a recent post. The exterior of the LFA features sharp lines, much like an old Toyota Supra from the 80s.

As you can tell we are having a day where we are covering the new Lexus supercar, the LFA. We have discussed a number of things, from how its exhaust can shatter a champagne glass to the Nurburgring Edition Price and Specs. We thought we would have a dig around and offer a video roundup of this latest sports car from Toyota owned Lexus.

The first video we have for you is of a Lexus LFA arriving in London, they seem to be struggling to get it off the back of the lorry and into the showroom. Feel sorry for the poor guy who had to maneuver it with half his body hanging out the window. View video here

The second video, which we have for you below, is of a drag race between 2012 Lexus LFA vs 2010 Nissan GT-R. This is great to see the first ever Lexus supercar pitted against a true racer, watch the video, as I do not want to spoil anything for you.

The next video is when Autocar got up close with the Lexus LFA. This video offers a great review and all the technical details of the new supercar. I have noticed that all that power often seems too much for the rear wheels – Lexus should have gone for an all-wheel-drive system.

The best video is from the LFA being pushed to the limit round Nurburgring, just listen to the engine and exhaust note – music to our ears.

These are just a few videos we hope you like?
