We have some interesting news now for those of you that are perhaps thinking of upgrading your current digital camera, as we’ve just heard that Leica has recently announced the new V-LUX 30 compact camera and we have the price, specs and release info right here for you.

As Donald Melanson over at Engadget reports, the Leica V-LUX 30 – the follow up to last year’s V-LUX 20 model – is priced up at $749, making this one of the company’s more affordable models. So what exactly do you get for $749 I hear you ask? Well for starters it comes with a 15.1-megapixel sensor.

The Leica V-LUX 30 also comes with a high performance lens with a 16x optical zoom, a 3-inch LCD touch screen display, a new 3D mode and built in GPS capabilities for geotagging. This model also features a 1080i AVCHD- full HD video recording format, with the 16x zoom available during video recording.

According to Donald, the video recording mode delivers a performance that is comparable to that of a digital camcorder. The Leica V-LUX 30 also comes with a built-in stereo microphone with an electronic noise filter, which guarantees to provide a crystal clear soundtrack.

Meanwhile, the integrated GPS feature makes both organizing and archiving your photographs quick and easy. If users choose to post their images on social networks such as Facebook, image portals or map sites such as Google Maps, the data will automatically reveal when and where the image was taken.

The Leica V-LUX 30 will be available as from sometime in June. Are you considering buying a new digital camera? If so, would you purchase the Leica V-LUX 30 model?

In October of last year Leica released the Neiman Marcus Edition of the M9 digital camera, and if you thought that the $17,500 was expensive wait until we tell you how much the new Titanium version will be. OK, you sitting down? The price is going to be a staggering 32,000, and just 500 will be made; but is any camera with this price.

The likes of you and I will agree that no camera is worth such a high price, but there are professionals and collectors out there that think that it is a small price to pay for such a beautifully crafted device – that much can be seen from the video review that we have for you below. There are other videos that you can view on Engadget, one is the unboxing and the second is getting started.

Those of you in the know will understand just how important the Leica M9 has been and the number of limited editions that have become available. The Titanium certainly compliments the previous versions, but it is the weight of the metal that gives the camera an even greater quality feel – well that and the Summilux-M 35mm F1.4 lens that comes packed inside its black handcrafted box.

Some of the main features include 18-mega-pixels and dual image processors; but it is that lens that weighs almost as much as the main body itself that needs to get more of the attention. It had been said that this camera would never take an image, but there is no mention of that from the impressive review from DPReview.

How much is too much when it comes to the price of a camera?

Back in January Peter Chubb reported details on the pre-order and price from Amazon for the Leica M9. Now if you prefer something a little more special, then you might like the Neiman Marcus Edition of the Leica M9 camera.

According to an article by Donald Melanson over at engadget.com, if you wanted this special version of the M9, there are only 50 units to be had and only through the Neiman Marcus Christmas book at a high price of $17,500.

This model has a rugged Leica M body coated in brown ostrich leather and comes with a strap to match. It is also equipped with a Summicron-M 35mm f2.0 ASPH lens offering a chrome finish; sapphire glass covered 2.5-inch screen and an 18-mega-pixel sensor.

For more details on the Leica M9 Neiman Marcus Edition, visit engadget.com. Will you be buying this camera for someone special this Christmas?

Today has been a busy day for camera enthusiasts as a number of these devices have been announced, such as the Pentax K-5 DSLR. However, it is the Fujifilm Finepix X100 that has got my attention, as it is a welcome break from the range of four-thirds cameras that we have been inundated with in recent months.

The Finepix X100 is a hybrid with its 12MP lens and APS-C DSLR sensor. Just looking at the camera screams old school, most of this is thanks to a viewfinder – something that is missing from most digital cameras on the market.

This is no ordinary viewfinder though, as it will overlay certain information for you. Not only will you be looking at the actual image, but you can also access the data, as you would on an LCD display on most other digital cameras.

Mic Wright from Electric Pig picks up on the fact that the looks and some of the specs are much the same as the Leica X1 – although the latter is certain to have the edge. The release date for the Finepix X100 is not expected to be until early next year.

Since the iPhone 4 was release there have been a number of mods made, but none come better than this one-off customization, which you can see for yourself on Flickr. The modification that we are talking about is an Apple iPhone 4 that looks like a Leica M9 camera.

According to PetaPixel the guy who developed this half-breed was called Joey and had a number of issues to solve before he came up with his finished item. Before we continue we have to inform you that the mod is not for sale, but maybe he would do more if the price was right?

Joey loves his iPhone 4 – not sure if he has any signal problems – and he also loves his Leica M9. So he thought what better way than to join two of his favorite devices.

The mod looks very clever, but in fact it is just stickers. He took photos of the front and back of the camera and then transferred them on to sticky paper, which he then cut out carefully and placed them on either side of the iPhone 4. What you are left with is the thinnest looking Leica M9, this will certainly confuse a few people.
