Since Lord of the Rings came to the big screen the movie merchandise has been phenomenal, and with the release of The Hobit that love for the franchise has been renewed once again. We’ve seen some great and weird stuff over the years, but this latest LOTR LEGO The Tower of Orthanc will be awesome once released.

The huge structure has been the talk of LEGO and LOTR fans since the start of the year, so nice to know that this item has finally been made official. The Tower of Orthanc LEGO set will stand two-foot tall, so will be an inspiring piece in your bedroom, or wherever you keep your collection.

That’s right, it’s not just children who will enjoy owning this collectable item, but die-hard fans of the franchise as well. I have to say, it does look awesome in the video below, but I’ve seen better, such as the Lord of the Rings chess sets from when The Fellowship was first released.

However, before you get too excited, some Tolkien fans might get a little upset, as we know LEGO always takes liberties and stretches things a little, so all might not be how it should. While the outside looks to be on the money in terms of looks compared to what we saw in the movies, it’s when you open the LOTR LEGO Tower of Orthanc that things look a little strange, as the designers were allowed more creative flexibility.

However, if you watch the video we are sure you most of you will be lenient because of it being made from LEGO. If you have not been put off by the design, then the Lord of the Rings Tower of Orthanc LEGO set $199.99 price might.

This year’s CES event has shown off some great iPhone cases with the consumers needs in mind, but what better way to keep your prized possession in top condition than with a fun LEGO styled casing? Many of us were brought up with the fun brick building toys, and it seems that LEGO are continuing to become more prominent with successful game franchises and toys based around hit movies.

The BrickCase fits standard LEGO sizes and can be used as part of your LEGO empire, so this will be compatible with those old sets you may have lying around. The case comes in those familiar bright colors including a glow-in-the-dark version that stays bright for up to 12 hours straight. They are currently available for iPhone 4, 4S and 5 as well as iPod Touch and more information regarding this can be seen on Smallworks.com and we also have a video preview from CES that can be seen at the bottom of this post.

We can see the fascination with LEGO and the opportunity to play and attach LEGO to modify your device, although this is a robust case, which will take a fair amount of impact for those butter fingers among us. It also preserves access to all buttons and features on your iPhone without hindering anything like volume controls, mute buttons, camera lens, flash and lightning connectors.

It is worth mentioning that this also allows your iPhone to lay face down keeping the screen off the table for those fun LEGO building situations. Available for around $25, this is probably the most fun you can have with an iPhone case, in fact, this is ideal for those with children, as it can be used to click those stray LEGO pieces together. Anyone who has ever stepped on a loose bit of LEGO in bare feet will understand this sentiment, so will you be digging out your old LEGO set to accompany your retro LEGO BrickCase?

If you have been a fan of the Lego video game franchise you may be glad to hear that a new game called Lego Pirates of the Caribbean will come out in three months time, this coincides with the May 2011 release of the upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Apparently the game is based on all four Pirates of the Caribbean films, the game is coming to Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, PC, Nintendo DS and PSP, to our knowledge there will be no 3DS release, however I wouldn’t be too surprised if a version of the game turns up at the App Store.

You can watch the debut trailer by scrolling down to the end of this post, it shows Captain Jack Sparrow getting up to his usual tricks, however doesn’t give a lot away, as MTV point out we can expect to see the usual Lego gameplay we are used to seeing, which includes co-op platforming, puzzle solving and building mechanics.

Disney has also teamed up with Lego to create Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO set, you can see a photo of the building set here, I think that you will agree that it looks pretty neat.

Will you be buying Lego Pirates of the Caribbean?

Whilst browsing the web we came across a video on Eurogamer.com that got us thinking. What if the guys that make the Lego games were to do Call of Duty: Black Ops. Can you imagine it?

With all of the Lego games they follow the story line which ever game they are, examples being Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones and the up and coming Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, then they add an element of humor and make the game enjoyable.

If anyone reading this ever played the Lego games then they already know that they aren’t just for kids, they are for adults too. At the end of the article is a video that was created by Keshen8 at Custard Productions for a taster of what I am thinking.

We would love a game like this that could offer something different in the Call of Duty games but will it ever happen? We sure hope so but perhaps not for a couple of years. Personally i would love to see a Lego Call of Duty Zombies Mode, that would be great!

Would you play a game like this? What other games would you like to see Lego cover? Let us know in the comments below.

A new Wii Remote has recently been revealed by Lego, these remotes allow you to customize them, which is great for those of you who are bored with the white, black, pink and blue versions currently offered.

If you are looking forward to building your Lego Wii Remote don’t get too excited, you can’t build it from scratch, however there are a few empty spots where you can add bricks.

The Lego Wii Remote should become available later this week, from what we can see it will set you back roughly $40, which isn’t too bad as most retailers offer standard Wii Remotes for roughly $30.

You can see the Lego Wii Remote below, it is a bit of a gimmick, but a great gift for someone who loves Nintendo and Lego.

Lego has been a favorite pastime for years now and its popularity has been helped recently with the news that David Beckham is a big fan. The football icon has confessed that if he wasn’t a footballer building with the small bricks would be his dream pastime.

An article in TheSun.co.uk is reporting that the England football star revealed he spent his spare time in Italy building a huge Lego model of the Taj Mahal. Since he revealed his pastime sales of the 5,922 piece set have soared 663 percent in just one day of sales.

This has delighted Lego bosses and in a gesture of appreciation have invited the L.A. Galaxy star and his wife Victoria, with their sons Brooklyn, Cruz, and Romeo to their head office in Billund, Denmark which is home of the original Lego land park. After a tour of the company’s museum and shop it is hoped that Beckham can come up with some suggestions for future projects.
