We have some important news for those of you who are still addicted to playing Left 4 Dead 2. The game is still very much supported by Valve and that is evident in the release of upcoming DLC package ‘Dead Air’, which has now been given release date details.

For those of you who are unaware, Dead Air is actually a community based DLC release and given the fact that Left 4 Dead 2 players passed the test with flying colors, it now means that Dead Air is going to be released ahead of schedule.

The test in question was to rack up 20,000 players aiming to get the Stream Crosser achievement this past Sunday night. Not one to miss out on a community-based effort, you will be unsurprised to hear that this challenge was achieved in next to nothing, so keeping to their side of the bargain, Valve has decided to release Dead Air on July 22nd although it may even come sooner than that according to the official Left 4 Dead Blog.

Dead Air features five-chapters in total, and they are in order – The Greenhouse, The Crane, The Construction Site, The Terminal and Runway Finale. Valve has mentioned in their blog that they are still putting their final touches on the last two maps The Terminal and Finale and that they still need to be stress tested by the community. However, it looks like Greenhouse, Crane and Construction Site are near completion so hopefully Valve can speed things up a little and get Dead Air out earlier than schedule.

We’re interested to hear how many of you still play the game religiously. We are probably still a long while off an official announcement of Left 4 Dead 3, but in many PC gamers eyes, the Left 4 Dead franchise remains the best co-op zombie experience within the industry, ranking above a certain Call of Duty add-on mode.

Valve has just under ten days to release Dead Air, but with enough community feedback, we have a feeling they are going to release it early, although July 22 does fall on a Friday so perhaps Valve are just planning to stick to that date so everyone can play Dead Air over the weekend.

Are you currently waiting for the DLC to release? Let us know if you think the game is getting boring or not – will you still support the game as long as Valve keep active with DLC releases, or is it time to switch your attentions to another game on the PC.

We have some pretty exciting news now for all you Left 4 Dead 2 gamers out there, as Valve has recently revealed details for its forthcoming DLC pack. Although we haven’t got a specific launch date as of yet, we do know that it should release sometime after Portal 2 arrives.

As Ben Lee over at digitalspy.co.uk recently reported, the new update will include the three remaining Left 4 Dead campaigns, as well as a brand new fourth campaign called “Cold Stream,” which is currently being worked on by modder Matthew Lourdelet.

A message on the official Left 4 Dead blog said that Matthew Lourdelet has really shown that there are still plenty of new ideas regarding Left 4 Dead 2 modding. However, rather than just finishing work on the new map quietly, Valve is opening the development up to the community.

According to Tom Senior at pcgamer.com, Valve announced that its latest experiment is looking to crowdsource development on the upcoming “Cold Stream” map, taking the community’s feedback on every aspect of the campaign as its being developed. The DLC will eventually release for PC, Mac and Xbox 360.

What do you think about Valve’s latest idea regarding the upcoming DLC pack?

For those of you still wondering if Left 4 Dead will ever make it’s way to the Playstation 3, we have an encouraging article for you to read now, which suggests that a decision from Valve could just be around the corner.

The article comes from RelyonHorror, who believe that momentum is now slowly starting to gather pace on Valve’s u-turn towards the PS3 console.

Considering that Portal 2 is on the way for the PS3, RelyonHorror thinks that a Left 4 Dead pack should come to the PS3 all on one Blu-Ray disc. It would be pretty exciting if PS3 owners had the option of buying a game which had both Left 4 Dead games along with the DLC packs inside – don’t you agree?

However, a long time has passed since we first heard rumors of Left 4 Dead appearing on the PS3. You might also consider Left 4 Dead to be an ‘old game’ – so would you still buy it if it came out?

Hopefully Valve won’t do a Mass Effect on us and just announce Left 4 Dead 3 on the PS3 on it’s own – we want the first games as well Valve.

Let us know your thoughts on this.

As we informed you last week, Valve has now released their newest DLC pack for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 users on Xbox 360, PC and Mac. While PC users are loving the updates from Valve, perhaps Xbox 360 owners have a right to be a little aggrieved about this.

In case you didn’t know, Valve has made The Sacrifice pack a free download for PC owners of Left 4 Dead and L4D2, and its even free for Mac users playing Left 4 Dead 2 as well.

However, those wanting to play the new content on Xbox 360 will be hit with a 560 Microsoft Points charge – why? As VG247 reports here, Valve are even going slightly crazy with some discounts to both games on the Steam store.

As an Xbox 360 owner, do you feel like you are being treated unfairly knowing that PC and Mac users are getting the same content for free? Let us know if you want to get something off your chest.

We have some good news for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 owners now, as Valve has just announced a release date for the next DLC pack, titled The Sacrifice. It will be available next month for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Personally, I think it is great that Valve are still putting in the hard work to support what should now be considered an ‘old game’, especially the first Left 4 Dead title.

As VG247 reports, The Sacrifice DLC will be available to download on Tuesday October 5th, and will be playable on Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. The new DLC pack is a prequel to the previous title pack (The Passing), and gamers will be able to play as the survivors from the first Left 4 Dead game.

On a slight sour note, the pack will be free to download on PC, but it will cost gamers 560 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360. Full details over at VG247.

Having already played The Passing, are you looking forward to The Sacrifice?

Earlier on this week, we informed you that the next DLC package for Left for Dead 2 titled ‘The Passing’, would be landing on Xbox 360 and PC. Valve has just released a promo video teasing the new content.

As reported from VG247, the new content costs 560 MS points on the Xbox 360, but will be free to download for PC users. You’ll get an all-new co-op challenge mode, plus a new zombie class and a few tasty looking new weapons to use.

There is also a new thing called Mutations which is exclusive to The Passing. VG247 has details on this. Watch the trailer below. As you can see, Valve tries to crack some jokes, which are not very funny – but the trailer itself is very cool.

Let us know if you are planning to download the content.

We have some great news for Mac owners now, as not only has Valve confirmed the rumors surrounding Mac for Steam, they also revealed that multiplayer on Left 4 Dead / 2 will be playable cross-platform style between PC and Mac owners. Awesome.

As reported from Eurogamer, the Mac version of Steam will be released sometime next month, and will allow users to play through the ENTIRE collection of games through Steam on your Mac.

It is specifically the ‘Steam Play’ feature that will allow the cross-platform multiplayer play between PC and Mac on Left 4 Dead and L4D2 – meaning that you will not need to purchase extra copies.

Were you expecting this to happen? If only the PS3 and Xbox 360.. ok, maybe not! Let us know your thoughts on the news.
