When it comes to fast cars most men never seem to grow up, I can still remember when I was about 11 or 12 with that huge poster of a Lamborghini Countach on my bedroom wall. I have since grown up and now realize what a shocking supercar it really was – not practical and had terrible fuel-economy. However, now that I am almost 39 I can understand what makes a great car and looking at the top 10 list of the fastest cars of 2010 -2011 there are none that do not deserve to be there.

As you will know these cars in the list are measured only by their top speed, so the no.1 might not have the fastest acceleration, but it will have a greater top end. The two fastest cars have been trading punches for some time now – that’s right we are talking about the Bugatti Veyron and the SSC Ultimate Aero. However, the former has just taken the top spot with the Super Sport (SS) version, which has a top speed of 267mph. You can see a top gear video of this in our recent post.

The former winner, which we mentioned above was the SSC Ultimate Aero, it has a top speed of 257 mph, and a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds – which we have to say is still very fast indeed. The third fastest car is the Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo, it has a top speed of 248mph and a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds. The other seven remaining fastest cars of this year are as follows: Koenigsegg CCX, McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo, Jaguar XJ220, Pagani Zonda F, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640: and finally the Porsche Carrera GT. This list was supplied by TheSuperCars.org.

You can see these cars in action for yourself with the video that we have embedded for you below. However, I did notice on the video that they have got number two and one mixed up, they have the standard Veyron at number two, but we all know that the SS version of that car is the true number one. Take a look at all ten cars and let us no which of these should take the top spot for looks?

With the Paris Motor Show 2010 set for 2nd – 17th October, Lamborghini has decided to give us a sneaky preview of its latest Murciélago concept. With an official launch booked for 30th September this year, any images are welcome to wet our appetites.

A report from Autocar states that the new car will be smothered in carbon fibre, using the popular woven material on its bodywork and chassis. This will aid Lamborghini in dramatically reducing the weight of its supercars, and accompany the exotic manufacturers plans to cut emissions throughout its range. A target weight for the new model will be less than 1500kg.

Along with the carbon composite chassis the new Murciélago will boast an all new 7.0-litre V12 powerplant capable of creating between 700-720 horsepower. With this sort of power the firm aims to produce a 0-100mph time of around 6.0 seconds and give an impressive 0-62mph time of near to 3.0 seconds. However Lamborghini have also said that the use of a DSG gearbox wont be an option due to its complexity and expense of engineering.

So with teasing new pictures available and performance spec to make your eyes water all that is left to do is brace yourself for the launch. Hit the link below to see the pictures and to read more.

Lamborghini Murcielago Burns: Fault or Arson?

Whenever we see a headline like Lamborghini Murcielago Burns, then we always assume that is down to a fault with the supercar. However, there are reports that the latest Murcielago seen on fire in New York was set on fire deliberately, but was it really arson?

Brett Davis from Car Advice said that seeing such a car on fire is almost-sacrilegious, we have to agree – why would anyone set fire to such a beautiful looking machine? Witnesses at the scene said that they saw two men running just before the Lamborghini was on fire.

No more information has been made available, but we are certain that police are now investigating if it was arson or if the same fault that has affected other Lamborghini’s was the cause of this burning Murcielago.

We would assume that the Italian supercar maker will be keeping a close eye on the findings of this investigation – this could spark another recall if it was found to be a fault with the car and not a deliberate act.

Lamborghini Murciélago Recall: Raging Bull Fuel Leak

We have already seen a record number of car recalls in 2010, but none as exotic as this, it seems that there is a recall on the 2007 and 2008 Lamborghini Murciélago. 428 of these vehicles have a potential fuel leak problem, which in turn could cause a fire.

According to Chris Shunk from Autoblog, the Italian automaker along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have issued the recall due to a problem with the wields that hold the fuel tanks support inside. If these wields fail then the tank could fall away and separate itself from the vehicle – something that could be very dangerous.

This is a serious problem, one that you would not expect from a $350,000 exotic supercar. It shows that it does not matter how much you spend on a vehicle, they all have one thing in common – poor quality control or cheaper components.

If you are lucky or unlucky enough to own one of these Lamborghini Murciélago’s then you can head down to your nearest Raging Bull dealer, where they will repair the fuel tank free of charge.
