We have some disappointing news for those of you with an LG Optimus L9 handset on T-Mobile now. If you have been patiently waiting for an official Jelly Bean update, we’re here to tell you that T-Mobile are now going to make you wait just a little longer – after running into a few mysterious problems when preparing to rollout.

The mid range device was released towards the end of last year in the US, running Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 out of the box. T-Mobile had already confirmed that a Jelly Bean update would be taking place, but now they have confirmed that the update is now officially ‘on pause’, until further notice.

The update was due to start rolling out on May 7, but the carrier has now said that they need further time to improve performance within Jelly Bean, also revealing that they do not know when the update will resume again. It means that for consumers unwilling to install custom software, they will be stuck on Ice Cream Sandwich until T-Mobile has solved the problems.

The only good news that we can see out of this, is that the update will be a much better one when it is finally available. It would have been a PR disaster for T-Mobile if they released a broken update after making consumers wait so long – so it’s understandable from that point of view.

Having said that, we’ve also heard whispers that some of you have managed to install this paused update regardless. If you have an LG Optimus L9 on T-Mobile and are already running official Jelly Bean, let us know if you are running into problems or not.

Are you ok to remain on Ice Cream Sandwich, or will you now think about installing some custom Android updates instead?

With Android Key Lime Pie expected in a few months time it’s clear to see there is plenty of life left in Jelly Bean, as the Sony Xperia Tablet S Jelly Bean update will be available for download later today. Okay, so we know it’s taken time, but better late than never.

Android 4.1.1 download goes live today at 9AM – 10AM PT for owners of the Tablet S in Canada and the US, as well as Latin America. As yet we have no idea what changes will be made or what bugs will be rectified, but once the download goes live the details will be made available on the Xperia Tablet S eSupport page.

We have to wonder why these vendors are so far behind, as this update should have been 4.2.1? However, it seems to be a trend with other Sony devices, such as the Xperia S phone. The next update was promised last month, then the first part of this month, now we have been told the update will not happen until May.

It’s these Android update delays that push more people towards Nexus devices, as they get their updates at a much faster rate. This will also be where the upcoming Motorola X Phone range will be able to take advantage, as this will also be a naked version of Android, so expect far better support.

Do you think the Sony Xperia Tablet S will ever see an update to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, and if it does will we have to wait until late next year before the tablet benefits from the updated mobile OS?

Once you have downloaded the update we’d love to know what changes you have come across, and if you have experienced any issue?

Thanks to Sony Forums.

We have some pleasing news for those of you still with a Droid Bionic handset from Motorola. You may have been pondering whether a Bionic Jelly Bean update would happen during the first quarter of 2013. We can tell you that Motorola has given a status update on the situation, confirming that the device is still scheduled to receive Google’s latest version of Android, but it will now come at a later date instead.

Let’s not forget that the Droid Bionic was released back in September of 2011, so it’s fair to say that the handset is now deemed fortunate to still be receiving official updates from Motorola – by today’s standards anyway. The Bionic shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box on Verizon Wireless, but is definitely in line for an update straight up to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Motorola has now updated a section of their support website, to reveal that the Droid Bionic is now scheduled to receive an official update to Jelly Bean during Q2 2013. That means that it could happen anytime within the next month all the way through out Summer.

When it finally does arrive, it will obviously be a fantastic moment for consumers who have stayed loyal to the aging handset – especially considering the various custom Jelly Bean builds that are out there as further temptation. For now though you’ll just have to sit back and wait for a solid release date from Motorola.

A new status of Q2 2013 isn’t exactly ideal we agree, but for a 2011 handset we still think owners are in a good position at the moment. If you are still rocking your Bionic proudly, let us know your thoughts on the revised timetable. Are you prepared to hold it out for a few more months?

We have some good news for those of you with a Motorola RAZR handset in the UK. The aging handset originally shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, only to be given an update to Ice Cream Sandwich afterwards. Now it gets even better for those that have kept the faith as Motorola has decided to grant you access to an official Jelly Bean 4.1 update as well.

Motorola has taken to their blog to dish out the pleasing information and we have to say that we’re pleasantly surprised that the device has made its way to Jelly Bean after shipping with the outdated Gingerbread. The company has also provided three excellent tutorial videos, giving users a chance to preview some of the features that will be available once you have received your notification to update to Android 4.1.

One of these is the new Google Now features that comes with Jelly Bean, enhancing your Motorola RAZR with personal assistant capabilities in the process. The update will also include improved and expanded notifications and an general performance increase thanks to the Project Butter technology.

Motorola has said that the update will be rolled out in phases and has already begun for some users. To check whether you have the update or not yet, you can simply head to your device settings and attempt to push the update manually via the About Phone section. The full update rollout could take up to two weeks to reach everyone though, so don’t get too stressed if you haven’t received the update just yet – patience is a virtue.

In the end, it looks like a very positive outcome for the EU Motorola RAZR. How many of you had honestly expected to be given an official update to Jelly Bean? Let us know if you have already received a notification to update to Jelly Bean, or if you’re still waiting.

We informed you at the start of January that Samsung had confirmed a surprise Android 4.1.2 update for the now old Galaxy S2 handset. After no information for two weeks, many of you had started to fear that the update would fall victim to Samsung’s infamous delay tactics, but thankfully that isn’t the case. We’ve now got confirmation that the Jelly Bean update has started to rollout in phases, for the International GT-I9100 version of the device.

We also told you at the time that the update would be available via the Samsung Kies software only, but new reports are suggesting that the update is also available OTA as well, which is great. As mentioned above though, the phased rollout means that not everyone will have the update yet and it will also depend on where you live and what carrier you are on.

As for the update itself, we’re hearing that it is a very sizable update for the S2 indeed, with consumers being able to enjoy a brand new interface, a UI which is currently featured on the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Mini all running the latest versions of Android.

For a device that released almost three years ago, this is a very positive outcome indeed to think that users are still getting official support and features that are in line with handsets that are available to buy on the market now. It’s a great sign for the future that any handsets bought in 2013 like the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 for example, may receive official software updates from Samsung right up to 2016.

SamMobile has provided a detailed list of some of the other features that are coming in the Android 4.1.2 update. The UI revamp is the big deal for us though. If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9100, let us know if you have received any notifications to update yet, or if you have pushed the update manually via Kies or device settings.

We have some fantastic news for those of you who have resisted temptation all of last year and stuck with the Samsung Galaxy S2 in favor of newer handsets with more luxurious hardware specs. Samsung has decided to reward that patience by upgrading the Galaxy S2 with an official helping of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Galaxy S2 is now arguably outdated having been released in May 2011, and it is very pleasing to see the device still part of the official Jelly Bean update rollout, with some users having probably expected to stay on Ice Cream Sandwich forever.

The update is definitely on the way, but as we’ve known with Samsung updates in the past, actually reaching your handset will be a different story altogether since updates are always handled on a region to region basis. Unsurprisingly, Korea will be first to the party, as Samsung has confirmed this with an official document in Korean – nothing set in stone for US and Europe Galaxy S2 users yet, but it’s safe to assume that the update will be happening after the initial rollout in Korea.

A few word of warnings about the update though, as we’re hearing that the only way to install Jelly Bean will be via Kies – so it’s probably a good idea to install the software now if you previously have been reluctant. The other issue is that the actual size of the update will be a rather hefty one – weighing in at 1GB to be precise so start freeing up system space if you are currently maxing out your storage.

Apart from that, the update is very straight forward and will add the same features, plus more that have been seen on other Galaxy handsets that have had the update already. Google Now is one of the most obvious new additions, improved scrolling is also included, while a whole host of new Google services will also be added once you have rebooted the device after installation – Google Play movies is definitely a nice surprise waiting once you’ve installed Jelly Bean.

Considering that the Galaxy S2 is getting the latest version of Android despite releasing over a year and a half ago, it is a good prospect for Galaxy S3 owners who are curious to find out when their official support will end. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is surely now a certainty for the Galaxy S3, while it may even get Android 6.0 as well based on Samsung’s actions with the Galaxy S2.

If you have kept faith with your trusty Galaxy S2, let us know your reaction to the great news. Does this now even cancel your plans to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S4?

It has been been a very long wait for the now infamous Android Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon. Frustrated customers have had to endure the fact that the Jelly Bean update is now available on the three other main carriers in the US, but thankfully it looks like Verizon is finally preparing to drop the update once and for all. Verizon has released a new document, informing customers that the Galaxy S3 will soon be updated to Android 4.1, but we just wonder if it is already too late for those consumers who may have lost patience with the network.

Still though it is better late than never. We have a feeling that the recent Jelly Bean update for the AT&T Galaxy S3 was the final indication that Verizon could no play the waiting game with the update. It seems an eternity away that Sprint delivered the update for their happy Galaxy S3 owners before anyone else, and surely Verizon does not want to be known as the major US carrier that is always last to everything – we’re looking at the Galaxy Note 2 release as well.

Without further ado, Verizon Galaxy S3 owners should proceed to this document and read through the notes in preparation for the update. Unfortunately, there is no actual release date for when rollouts will begin, but don’t be surprised if we start to see the first wave of handsets updated to Jelly Bean at the end of this week.

The Jelly Bean update appears to be 62MB is size and will finally allow Galaxy S3 customers on Verizon the chance to sample the new Google Now features amongst other things. Verizon also notes that the update will take 5-7 minutes to download and then a further 5-7 minutes to install – so that’s pleasing to hear.

Now that Jelly Bean is on the way to the Galaxy S3 on Verizon, it will be interesting to see just how long it takes for Verizon to provide an update to Android 4.2 for their customers. Are you hopeful for this, or has this been a wake up call to you that it’s now time to switch to a different carrier in 2013?

Let us know if you have already had a notification to update to official Jelly Bean, or if you have already been running a leaked version of Jelly Bean for weeks.

How is your current experience at the moment with your Samsung Galaxy S3 handset? Are you still enjoying the device as when you first bought it, or has software update delays dampened your mood a little bit? The Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update is now available for most devices, however Verizon is still refusing to give their customers a timeline on when they’ll be pushing it out.

With Verizon customers the last ones to the Android update party yet again, many consumers who already have the Jelly Bean update are now starting to look ahead at a potential Android 4.2 update and the likelihood of Samsung and respective carriers providing the new features to users.

The good news, is that Samsung has already been quoted as saying that they are looking into the possibility of updating their Galaxy portfolio to Android 4.2. However, that quote also mentions that rollout plans will be announced ‘in due course’, which obviously could take months yet for this to actually be of any substance to users.

Samsung are infamous for their slow Android updates and devices like the Galaxy S3 could see an extended wait for getting an update to Android 4.2. We’ve seen little said by the company on the chances of this happening, but really we shouldn’t be hearing anything at all, until they have successfully updated every single Galaxy S3 variant to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Having said that, many of you believe that it is Verizon to blame and not Samsung for Verizon’s Jelly Bean update and it’s safe to say that the chances are very slim of their version getting Android 4.2 around the same time as say the Sprint and AT&T models.

Is the Android 4.2 update really worth getting stressed about though? New features such as Photosphere and Gesture Typing are available, but other than that it really is a minor improvement to the main features that came with the core Jelly Bean update. There has also been some well documented problems with the Android 4.2 update that are starting to make some Galaxy Nexus consumers wish they hadn’t updated.

As a Galaxy S owner who is already enjoying the fruits of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, what importance do you place the Android 4.2 update? Do you want it badly, or are you more concerned on whether the device will be updated to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie instead?

We finally have a positive bit of news for Verizon Galaxy S3 owners. Big Red may be taking their time on an official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 as they focus on the Droid DNA launch, but you’ll be pleased to know that the underground scene has once again come up with the goods.

A brand new version of Jelly Bean is available to users with custom tools and the even better news is that this could well turn out to be the final build of Jelly Bean that Verizon will officially provide to Galaxy S3 users in the US with an OTA update notification.

The new build has been identified as VRBLK1 and is newer than the VRBLJ1 version that we told you about here in a previous article. Samsung-Updates have provided the new version of Jelly Bean before Verizon has had the chance to release it officially, while the update notes and download links have once again been provided over at the XDA Developer Forums.

It seemed to be just a matter of time before Verizon finally gave Galaxy S3 owners their Jelly Bean update and now that this leaked version has been made public, don’t be surprised if Verizon pushes out the official update by the end of the weekend. Right now, it is only available to those who are rooted and have access to ODIN and an unlocked bootloader.

Is the Jelly Bean update delay on Verizon, enough indication for you to decide that your next Android purchase is going to be a Nexus device? It is almost a normal trend now for consumers to completely bypass the need to wait for official updates when they know that carrier delays are always going to happen with each new version of Android. We see it with the Galaxy S3 at the moment and the same thing will probably happen when Droid DNA users end up waiting longer than expected for the Android 4.2 update to arrive.

Will you be trying this latest version of Jelly Bean for the Verizon Galaxy S3, or are you still happy to let Verizon take their time on the update?

If you are a happy Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owner and are running the latest software version on your device, there’s a good chance that you have already had a chance to preview the impressive multi window features that some carriers in the US recently made available in recent updates.

The multi window feature allows true multitasking on that gorgeous 5.5-inch display and lets users bring up two core windows which they can run two apps simultaneously, switching between each one with ease or just letting the two apps run for however long they want.

This feature isn’t available for all Galaxy Note 2 owners yet, but we’ve just heard that the multi-window mode is set to get even better, with Samsung updating the official S-Pen SDK to version 2.2.5, which will now allow developers to create new and innovative apps that specifically make use of the multi-window feature.

If you consider yourself to be a decent software maker on the Android platform, you can proceed to Samsung’s website here and try out the new S-Pen SDK for yourself. Samsung also makes a note to say on their website that the new multi-window feature is dependent on whether carriers have enabled it or not. We told you here how Sprint had already given users this feature in a recent update, while there are also whispers that the multi-window feature will ship with the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 out of the box as well – whenever Verizon decides to release it of course.

The question is though, what custom apps would you like to be able to use which feature integration with the multi-window? It’s early days yet, but we have already seen some underground tinkering with the multi-window feature. A new mod for the Galaxy Note 2 on Sprint adds a lot more multi-window compatibility, than what Samsung initially offer natively. Using the mod, you’ll be able to add any app into the multi-window feature, not just the ones that Samsung has official support for.

Is the multi-window feature on the Galaxy Note 2 receiving daily usage from you, or are you waiting for developers to add some innovative new apps first?
