Both Chrysler and Land Rover have been teasing us with one or two images of their all-new Jeep Cherokee and the 2014 Range Rover Sport just to get out juices going. However, almost hours ahead of the New York Auto Show both companies have treated us to a multitude of new photos, and we have to say they are looking rather special.

While the two models will compete in the same market, there’s no denying the all-new Range Rover Sport will be the most popular at the show, seeing as though this SUV is a popular choice with drivers in The Big Apple.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee certainly looks as though it will try its best in a very competitive market, and looking at some of these images the exterior and interior, we have to say the design department has done an impressive job. There are front-wheel and all-wheel drive options, as well as a choice of a 2.4 liter and 3.2 liter engines, producing 184 and 271 horsepower respectively. Full details can be found here.

As for the 2014 Range Rover Sport it’s nice to see a true Range Rover, unlike the horrible Evoque, which looks as though it has been rolled on its roof. This all-new model has been reworked and as such has been on a bit of a diet, so now weighs 800 pounds less, and that’s even with the inclusion of a third row.

The engine options for the Sport makes the Cherokee look like child’s play, as you have a choice of a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 or a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, which produces 340 and 510 horsepower respectively. Full details can be found on the official Land Rover website.

The New York Auto Show is currently taking place, and earlier we told you about the 2013 Ford Taurus that was showcased. But if you are after something a bit bigger, Jeep have reveled their fastest ever vehicle, the Grand Cherokee SRT8.

President and CEO of Jeep Mike Manley has said the new SRT8 is the fastest Jeep ever made, according to an article on autoblog.com by Jeff Glucker. The Grand Cherokee is electronically limited to 155mph, and can hit 60mph in only 4.8 seconds.

Manley has also said he would have trouble keeping a smile on his face when the SRT8 hits the streets. It is powered by a new 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that manages 465hp, and 465 pound-feet of torque, this is up 45 units in both categories.

The SRT8 has a few sporty exterior upgrades over the standard model which includes LED lights, and chrome accents pop in the front grill. It runs on a set of 20-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires. Inside you will find some paddle-shifters on the steering column, and the seats are leather and Alcantara covered.

No pricing has not been revealed yet but the SRT8 is expected to hit showrooms sometime during the third quarter of this year. Do you like the look of the Grand Cherokee SRT8?

When it comes to car and truck reviews, you can always count on AutoWeek to offer unbiased opinions. They certainly had their work cutout in the build-up to the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, as they not only offered previews, but also reviews of the car once at the event. We thought we would take a look at what they have called their Best of the Best Car and Truck of 2011.

So let us look at what the automotive website believes are the best car/truck for 2011. Would you be surprised if we told you that it was the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which we have a review for you to read? Not sure if we can agree with them on their choice though, the Cadillac in our opinion is a little on the ugly side, and I have never been a fan of the SUV. However, let me tell you that this is just one man’s opinion, and I am certain that they are both great vehicles.

It’s not hard to see why AutoWeek has picked the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe (Review here) though, as it certainly packs a punch in the performance department by offering 556BHP from its 6.2-liter V8 engine. They believe that this is the best Cadillac ever, as it seemed to tick all the right boxes.

Next up is the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which AutoWeek believes stands out above the rest. However, this truck certainly has a great weight on its shoulders, as they believe that this vehicle “symbolizes the reborn Chrysler”. However, we have to point one of its biggest failings and that is its fuel-economy. We know that there will be drivers out there that say that 20MPG is very good for an off-roader, but in this day and age- we want so much more than that.

Do you believe that large trucks and SUVs should now be phased out?

A few days back WSJ ran an article that looked at Chrysler’s new lineup, and there was one vehicle that got our attention. It seems that with all the hype that is surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops, such as “Combat Record Stats” and “Killstreaks and New Weapons”, it was only a matter of time before we learned what the “Hero” vehicle will be – a Jeep Wrangler Sahara.

This limited edition model could come with a hardtop and a number of changes to the interior. Not much more is known and if the model will enter production, but with the success of the Tomb Raider Land Rover, Chrysler could do a lot worse.

It is said that there are some concept drawings of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Jeep around, we just hope that they make their way on to the Internet. Maybe the automaker will leak them out themselves just to gauge how popular such a vehicle will be.

If Chrysler were to release a Call of Duty: Black Ops Jeep Wrangler, would you consider purchasing one, and how much would you pay?
