If there were ever a Bluetooth headset that gave you groundbreaking features and future proof technology, then some would say that the Jabra Motion Series is it, and one of those reasons is because of its support for UC platforms. Although the new device looks a little on the larger side, we’re told that it’s very comfortable

Jabra knows that those who choose to use one of their new Motion Series headsets will be in a number of environments where it could be hard to hear, which is why this has been designed to work in a variety of environments. The speaker will adjust to the required volume, which is one reason why this new series has a great performing battery.

It’s not all about the battery and the volume though, because as you can see from the video below the call quality is said to be the best that Jabra has ever developed, so no more asking the person on the other end to repeat what they said – not unless you keep losing signal.

To make life easier when you receive an incoming call all you need to do is say “answer” and your call will be answered, although you can also start and end calls just by opening or closing the boom arm.

The Jabra Motion headset also supports NFC, which allows you to connect with handsets and tablets that offers Near Field Communication support as well. There are several versions of this headset in the Motion Series, those are the Jabra Motion, UC (Retail Version), UC, and the Jabra MOTION UC MS. For more details head over to the official Jabra website.

Jabra have manufactured a number of in car accessories including the Jabra CRUISER which my colleague was able to his hands on and review last year. Now we have news that the company has announced their latest accessory to hit the U.S the Jabra FREEWAY.

The FREEWAY is the first speakerphone to feature three speakers and be HD Voice capable which the company says makes it ideal not only for in-car hands-free calls, but for smartphones and iPods thanks to its Bluetooth A2DP support.

Higher quality audio during calls should be noticed provided you have a compatible smartphone thanks to its HD Voice. The voice recognition feature allows for control over rejecting and receiving calls as well as redialing, ending and making them. The device will automatically switch off when your journey has ended and starts back up when you enter the car.

The Jabra FREEWAY is due to hit the U.S in May and can be yours for $129. More details can be found by clicking the link above.

What do you think of this speakerphone? Will you be getting one? Let us know in the comments below.

When we were informed that we would be given the Jabra CRUISER Bluetooth In-car Speakerphone to review, we were curious to see what improvements the company had made over its previous models. Early in the year we reviewed the Jabra SP200, but we are expecting so much more from the CRUISER.

There are a number of cool features to this model, such as FM transmission and voice control. There are a number of handsets on the market that has the same sort of features, so how will the Jabra CRUISER perform in this competitive market?

From the moment we removed the device from the Jiffy bag, we knew we were dealing with something with more quality than the previous in-car speakerphone. The design is sleek with its slim glossy black casing with little metallic flecks and a chrome ring around the top outer edge, this ads to a more premium look.

There are more controls on the CRUISER compared to other Jabra in-car speakerphones, on that chrome ring are play-pause, skip forward and back buttons, these are used when using the A2DP audio streaming. Above those buttons is one large button, this is used for answering and ending a call, along with your Bluetooth status.

On one side of the device is a volume control; while on the other is that all-important FM switch. Another great feature is the inclusion of LED indicators to show battery life.

That is the design feature out of the way, so now onto the more practical side of things. Paring the CRUISER was a simple process; the cell phone that we were using was the Apple iPhone 3GS. We did not know how this would go, as the Jabra SP200 has trouble staying connected to this handset.

Paring took less than a minute to do, a voice announcement informed us when both devices were paired. As with other Jabra in-car speakerphones, the CRUISER has to be clipped onto the visor above your head using the clip provided. Make certain that you do not remove this, as it doubles as the FM antenna.

With everything now in place we sat in a car waiting for the test call to come in, the volume on the ringer is not bad, but could become a problem if traveling at high speed in a noisy vehicle. While talking through the Bluetooth speaker we found the volume to be slightly loud as it produced a high-pitched tone to the callers voice. The quality of the speaker is much better than the SP200, but not as solid as I had hoped. However, there is a way around this. You have the option to run the device through FM, so the callers voice can come from the cars speakers.

The next test would be to make a call from the in-car speakerphone. Now was the time to see how well the voice-activated calling works, this is done by keeping your finger pressed on the answer and end call button. You will hear a beep when you are ready to say the name that you wish to call. This is where we had problems, each time we did this; the iPhone 3GS comes up with a choice, Jabra CRUISER, handset or speakerphone. Now we are not sure about you, but this seems a bit pointless not to mention dangerous while driving.

We thought we would try a second time, the device worked perfectly. This meant that you had to make your choice once so that the device could remember. However, things are never that simple, later we found that when we walked away from the car and then came back into range, things would go wrong again.

The first thing you have to do is hit the on button on the device so that both could pair again; we then had the trouble of making our choice before making that first call. We have tried a number of times to get around this, but with no luck. Maybe one of our readers would be able to offer us or other readers a tip.

The final test was to see how good the FM features was we have to warn you that this is not secure, so someone in another car near you on the same frequency will be able to hear your music and listen to your phone conversation.

Working the FM feature is very simple, just turn the FM switch on and you will be given an FM frequency for you to tune your car stereo to. As you would expect, the quality is not perfect and a bit dull, but sounds much better than the small speaker that comes built-in on the CRUISER.

To sum up, the Jabra CRUISER handles all of its functions well, but the in-built speaker is still like an annoying insect while in a call. However, the inclusion of FM certainly helps to counteract that. This device will certainly give other similar devices a run for their money.

We have been sent a Jabra BIZ 2400 Mono 3-in-1 headset for use with a traditional phone, this device forms part of Jabra’s comprehensive family of headsets. The company seems to have a knack at raising the bar when it comes to corded headsets, not only in design but in performance as well.

A number of improvements have been made on the Jabra BIZ 2400 Series compared to the older model; these improvements include greater comfort, more durable and most importantly greater audio quality.

Let me explain what I mean by greater audio quality, the headset is configured for business use and for those working in contacts centers and the hand-made Neodymium speakers help to produce a maximum frequency response within the 300-3,400 Hz frequency range.

This means that there will be fewer misunderstandings with you and your caller. There is a choice of different microphones along with noise-canceling systems, which are ideal in many different environments.

Comfort is key when using headsets, and the moment that you place the Jabra BIZ 2400 Mono 3-in-1 headset on your head you will notice how comfortable they are. After a few minutes it feels as if you do not have anything on your head as they are very light.

This mono version that we have offers three different wearing styles, these include earhook, neckband, or headband. All these are very easy to put on, and once on are easy to adjust for left or right ear use. Do not worry about the device getting tangled in your hair, as the headset has a T-bar specially designed to prevent such a thing from happening.

What we can see from the build quality is that there will be a long service life with minimum faults and breakages. This is great for businesses, as it will help them avoid productivity losses and also saves them money on purchases new equipment.

If you live in the UK then you will know that if you talk on your phone while driving one of two things could happen, one you could get pulled up by the police as it is an offensive to drive while speaking on a mobile phone. The worst thing that could happen is that you could lose control of your vehicle and could have an accident, I am certain that you wish for none of these to happen. Jabra do have a perfect solution though with a range of Bluetooth speakerphones, we will be looking at their latest model, the SP200.

The Jabra SP200 Bluetooth Speakerphone is from the Drive ‘N’ Talk Easy Series, this is not going to be as good as its bigger brother the SP700, but the SP200 has been designed for those on a tighter budget.

When you are driving in your car there are three options for you to stay legal and talk on a mobile phone while driving, this first is to have a Bluetooth kit built in to your vehicle, the second is to have a Bluetooth headset in your ear, but this becomes uncomfortable. The third and one of the most popular choices is a Bluetooth speakerphone.

Jabra are not stupid and they understand that budgets are tight, which is what led them to produce the SP200, but how will it perform against its bigger brother. The design of the SP200 is a lot like the SP700, but there are also a number of differences. Both models have lovely curves in its design and both have been designed to clip on to your cars sun visor.

The SP200 does not feel as well built as the SP700 as it has a much duller and cheaper finish. The SP200 does not use the whole front to answer calls; there is one large push button that is near the front of the device near the volume control.

Speaking of the volume, this is not tricky to use like the other Jabra models. This is not any longer a rocker switch, which was awkward to use, now there is a large wheel that is positioned at the front of the device, much easier and safer to control while driving.

There is just one other button on the device, and that is the on / off switch. On the other side is the USB port used for charging the device. The device will conserve its power by switching itself off if it has not been used for more than 15 minutes. Do not worry because when you tap it to answer a call it will power back up again.

Now it comes to pairing the Jabra SP200 with your phone, I have an iPhone and more often than not paring it with a device becomes a pain, but both paired easily, but that it what we love about Jabra. When it asks for a passcode, just enter the standard “0000” passcode. If you would like to to pair to another mobile phone at a later date, just force it to do so by holding down the call/answer button for at least five seconds, the LED will start to flash blue then.

There is not much to explain now, when you get a call just hit the big call/answer button and you are ready to speak, if you find that the caller is too low or too loud, then the big volume control on the front is easy to use, well you can’t miss it can you.

If you wish to activate voice dialing on the Bluetooth speakerphone, that is if your mobile phone supports it, then just press the button for two seconds while the device is in idle. This one button can also mute and unmute the speakerphone while in a call, just press the button for two seconds during that call.

When we placed the Jabra SP200 Drive ‘N’ Talk Bluetooth Speakerphone on our sun visor and then got a colleague to call us I was surprised at how good the quality was this, is thanks to the built-in echo cancelation technology. We found that this cuts out a lot of background noise for those who were calling us.

Do not get us wrong our callers knew that we were speaking on a speakerphone, but the voice quality is much better than you would imagine for a device of this price, the voice of the caller was clear and you could work out all that they were saying.

The speaker on the device is very loud and found that we needed to keep the volume set at two-thirds of its level. Try not to turn the device to its full volume, that sound will get a little uncomfortable, as is starts to distort and sounds like a wounded bird.

The device comes with a USB lead and a USB car adaptor for charging in your car, this can also be used in a wall charger if you have one as there is not one included in the pack. While charging the LED will turn red and once fully charged will turn green. The Jabra SP200 will offer up to 10 hours of talk time and almost 23 days on standby.

As with all products there are always good and bad points, the only bad thing that we could find with the device is that is has a plastic feel. The simple to use device with its large volume control more than makes up for that, oh and the cheap price tag as well. We have to say that Jabra have done a great job with the SP200.
