While many of you are getting excited about the upcoming release of an iPod Touch with free Facetime video chats, some of you may be disappointed to hear that the device won’t be able to shoot high quality stills with the camera.

As reported from ElectricPig, the biggest feature of the new iPod Touch, was undoubtedly the inclusion of a front-facing camera and Facetime. However, Apple didn’t really go into specifics on the rear camera as if you didn’t already know – it will only come with a less than 1MP sensor.

Some of you may of been expecting the iPod Touch to ship with a 5MP camera, as seen on the iPhone 4, since the iPod Touch will be able to produce HD video recording, and display it on a lovely Retina Display. If this is the case, then you’re out of luck, as the rear camera won’t fulfill your needs if you want to shoot high quality stills on the iPod Touch.

Then again, it is still and always has been about the music hasn’t it – Facetime is just a great added bonus. Let us know your thoughts on this. Are you disappointed about the rear camera specification or are you not too bothered?

We ae just getting over the hangover from yesterday’s influx of new Apple products, namely the new iPod Touch 4 and Apple TV. But while Apple gloat about their new devices, what have Microsoft been doing? Rumors suggest that they have been secretly plotting a revamp of their very own personal music player.

Strangely enough, we have not heard much from Microsoft lately regarding the Zune HD, and what direction it would be going next. But one thing we can say about it is that it is definitely one of the best digital music players currently on the consumer market.

It looks cool and stylsh, and even the interface and features are sleek along with enough power under the hood to put a big smile on our face. This is a few reasons why we don’t want Microsoft to push the Zune HD aside in the near future, but rumors suggest otherwise with something new on the horizon.

An article over on ZDNet suggests that some sources have told her that a new, remodelled Zune HD is in the works.

While details are scarce, we predict that it would continue in the fashion of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 7 series while other speculation suggests that an ARM CPU could also be involved.

The new Windows Phone 7 devices are definitely giving out some love to the Zune, and therefore its only certain that we can expect an upgrade in the near future.

We are just getting over the excitement from the Apple media event that happend just hours ago, and already we have a hands on of the new 6th-gen iPod Nano that seems to have shrunk considerably in size.

With the clickwheel now gone, making way for the future in the sense of touchscreen fever, Engadget have taken the device and experienced it first hand, and overall they seem happy with what Apple have done.

Engadget say that the device is “super thin, super light” and that the “capacitive multitouch works very well” with a few snags.

The only real problem that seems apparent is the navigation from sub menus and back, although I’m sure it ‘s a new feature that we will all just get used to in the end. The screen is said to be crisp and overall enjoyability seems rather… addictive.

Check out the gallery over at Engadget for a full hands on look at the iPod Nano.

Taking a step back from the hype surrounding the iPod Touch 4, Apple have released more information on their portable media players, this time with the new third-generation iPod Shuffle.

The Shuffle, which seems to be a joint mix of the last two generations, could be a step in the wrong direction, but bringing buttons back to the Shuffle seemed to be the obvious choice in Steve Jobs’ eyes as he stated “People clearly missed the buttons.”

The 3rd-gen Shuffle will come in five different colors, and will cost just $49. It also has our favorite little clip on the back so that we can strap it to ourselves while doing other tasks.

Battery life is said to last up to 15 hours, and will come with voiceover capabilities.

Images are available via Engadget.

Do you think Apple have taken a step backward with the buttons? It seems as though you wanted them back, so did you?

You may be aware that it’s Apple’s Media Event tonight, but if you are looking forward to watching the live stream from your PC running Windows (or any other operating system for that matter), then think again as the stream will only be available to those using an Apple device such as a Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

But for those of you who think it is only because Apple wants its ‘fans’ watching with their own branded devices, that’s not strictly true.

The HTTP protocol that is being used to stream the event live uses a feature of Apple’s multimedia player Quicktime X that is currently not supported by Windows devices.

The newest version of Quicktime that is currently downloadable for Windows users is version 7.6, which is the second newest version and was released in January 2009.

Although Apple say that Quicktime X is a “major leap forward that advances modern media and Internet standards,” it has also been slated for being even more complicated to implement that older live stream protocols used in the past.

Users who do have an Apple product will need a Mac running Safari on Mac OS X version 10.6, an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or higher or an iPad to view the live stream. Others will have to make do with the live blog.

We have some interestings news to report now, as it has been revealed that a couple of alleged iPod Touch 4G cases have shown up in China, right before Apple’s planned media event next month.

As reported from Engadget, the cases have appeared courtesy of Chinese website X-Doria, and show products for both the new iPod Touch 4G, along with cases for a 6th-generation iPod Nano device.

With all the recent news on the 4th-gen iPod Touch, it is safe to presume that Apple are widely expected to announce a refresh to their current iPod Touch, one with iPhone 4 features such as a front-facing camera for Facetime video chats.

Check out a close up images of the stylish cases below and let us know what you think of them. Would you consider buying the new iPod Touch or not?

Each year Apple updates its iPod Touch line, and 2010 is expected to be no different. The fourth-generation model should be unveiled in September – well if previous years are anything to go by. So how will the features compare to the current model?

Currently the iPod Touch does not come with a camera and has the same processor as the iPhone 3GS. However, it is expected that the new 2010 iPod Touch will come with a camera on the rear as well as a front-facing camera – meaning that Apple will include FaceTime, which we recently discussed.

Apple could also use the A4 processor, the same one used in the iPhone 4, so will keep with tradition on offering a number of features as the current version of iPhone launched in the same year. iOS 4 will be included, but as usual will come at a price.

We do not know if Apple will use the new Retina display, but surly they will have to so that the user can get the best enjoyment possible while playing games. So what features would you like to see on the new iPod Touch 2010 model?

These images come just one day after we broke the news of the first images of the iPod Touch 4, when an apparent leak of an early case design made its way on to the internet.

When we first saw the images yesterday, we did not see much of a mockup from Apple’s earlier iPhone 3GS design.

In a rather strange twist, the images from yesterday did not show a space for the front facing camera which leads us to believe one of these two leaks are a fake.

The images shown of the screen have the Apple stamp and copyright on them, which makes us think these ones are real. To back up our arguement, MacRumors also say that it has seen these before on legitimate Apple parts.

What do you think? Fake or legit?

One of the most reliable ways to get a glimpse into future Apple products these days is by looking at the case manufacturers. This is no different when it comes to the iPod Touch 4, as images have been leaked of the apparent case for the device.

Hardmac unveiled the images earlier today, and also says that the same source also offered pictures of an iPod mini case last year, which also went to prove that the iPod would also come with a camera.

Not much can be gained from these images, but what we can see is that it comes with camera and a flash. The iPod Touch 4 also looks very similar to the iPhone 3GS with a curvy back rather than the new type of flat-glass from the iPhone 4.

What do you make of these supposed images of the iPod Touch 4?
