Those of you currently waiting for the release of Greenpois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak for the iPhone 4 will not be happy with the delay, but most of you can forgive the Chronic Dev Team for the long wait, as it is very complex to complete.

However, there has been some feedback to a recent article on Only Kent, saying that the delay is deliberate, as it is a way for the developer to increase advertising revenue – not certain how many of you would agree with that one?

It does seem that this was an isolated comment, most agreeing that those who think that they can do better are welcome to try – I bet that there will be no takers to that challenge?

One comment certainly stuck out for me, saying that those working on the Greenpois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak have a life around their 9-to-5 jobs, so we should give them a break. How would you like it if you were hounded by thousands of people after you had finished work for the day? Alan Ng recenlty reported that the release is imminent.

How long will you wait for the jailbreak?

As reported from Softpedia, the fake version of the jailbreaking tool is now available to download from various locations online, but rather than jailbreak your iOS 4.1 device, it contains trojans and other harmful software.

Furthermore, these trojans have specifically been designed by cyber-criminals to steal your passwords, so next time you do a google search for ‘Greenpois0n download’ or something similar, be very careful for what you click on.

Hopefully we’ll be able to bring you details on the stable version of Greenpois0n, but for now, let us know your thoughts on the fake version. Have you seen it online, or even downloaded it?

While a good portion of iPhone 4 owners wait for GreenPois0n to release, we now have some good news for those of you with a iPhone 3G handset running iOS 4.1, as a full jailbreak method has just been released.

According to this report from RedmondPie, the jailbreak on iOS 4.1 has been achieved using PwnageTool bundle and unlike similar methods for other iOS 4.1 devices, Cydia and Hacktivation are confirmed features.

After using the PwnageTool bundle on your iPhone 3G on iOS 4.1, you can then proceed to unlock your handset if you wish, using ultrasn0w. RedmondPie has listed all the download links you need, as well as step by step instructions for you to follow.

As always, this is a risky business and you will void your warranty with Apple if you choose to go down this route. However if you know what you are doing, let us know if this latest method worked for you so others can try it.

Following from the news that the next jailbreak solution on the iPhone 4 would also be available for the new iPod Touch and iPad, we can now confirm the name of the program that will be used to jailbreak iOS 4.1.

According to RedmondPie, the new method will be known as ‘GreenPois0n’ and will be supplied by the Chronic Dev-Team. For those who have experience in the jailbreaking scene, you’ll remember GreenPoison as the same tool used to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3, as well as OS 3.2 for the iPad.

After a week since Apple pushed out iOS 4.1 to users, it looks like an iPhone 4 jailbreak tool is definitely on the way, here is a message that p0sixninja, a Chronic Dev-Team member posted on Twitter:

”Hey, @p0sixninja ‘s epic greenpois0n works well on iPhone 4G ! (need to work on the framebuffer code tho ! )”

Stay tuned for when the download goes live, in the meantime, give us your reaction to the news.

As reported from RedmondPie, those of you who regularly use the Rock app to download apps to your jailbroken handset will now see all the content moved onto Cydia, in the next few days according to Cydia’s creators.

This may be a disappointment for those of you who preferred Rock over Cydia, but at least you won’t have to shuffle between two stores now with all content moving to Cydia.

Don’t worry if you are concerned about the stuff you bought from Rock in the past, as Cydia will now contain all of your information, including backups. Look out for the new Cydia update in the next few days.

According to TheRegister, Apple are going to find it very difficult to combat the latest events that have occurred in the iPhone 4 jailbreaking scene.

As we told you a few days ago, a new bootrom has been found within iOS 4.1, and will allow users to freely jailbreak their iPhone 4 once a solution becomes available.

As a result of this, TheRegister believes that Apple will have to make ‘significant hardware changes’ due to the new bootrom, but will they release a new update so soon after iOS 4.1?

Meanwhile the hackers are urging everyone to stay on iOS 4.0.2 until a jailbreak solution becomes available – which doesn’t seem to be too long until that happens.

What are your thoughts on this? What do you think Apple will/should do?

Following on from our previous article which informed you about a full jailbreak and unlock guide for iPhone 3G users on iOS 4.1, we now have some more details on the new bootrom exploit that was discovered on iOS 4.1.

As reported from RedmondPie, the exploit was found by iPhone hacker Pod2g, but now the iPhone Dev Team have commented on it, confirming that the method works for more than one device.

According to ‘MuscleNerd’ from the Dev Team, the bootrom will also work on the New iPod Touch 4G device, and also the iPad along with the iPhone 4.

Here is a message posted by MuscleNerd on Twitter: ”That latest exploit from @pod2g confirmed to work beyond iPhone4…also on at least iPad and yesterday’s iPod4G too ”

This of course means that if a new jailbreak solution is found for the iPhone 4 running iOS 4.1, then it is also likely to work on the new iPod Touch too!

Let us know your thoughts on this, stay tuned for further updates.

Yesterday we told you how a new bootrom exploit has been found for iOS 4.1, and it looks as if iPhone 3GS owners are the first ones to get a solid jailbreak and unlock tool, thanks to this lengthy guide we’ve found.

This guide comes courtesy of RedmondPie and will allow you to jailbreak iPhone 3GS handsets running iOS 4.1, by using an old bootrom and PwnageTool.

If you are interested in giving this a go, you’ll need the latest version of iTunes and then you’ll need to backup your data using the software in case anything goes wrong during the process.

Once you’ve done that, you will then need to download PwnageTool and follow the steps carefully over at RedmondPie. They shouldn’t be too hard to follow and there is also some included images to help you along the way.

You should only try this if you know what you are doing, as we definitely don’t recommend it for beginners. Head over to RedmondPie for the tutorial and download links.

Let us know how you get on. Don’t forget a full jailbreak solution for iPhone 4 handsets on iOS 4.1, is likely to release soon – more details on that here.

CNET has posted a collection of user reviews, all from iPhone 3G owners who have already updated. Most of them are extremely satisfied with the update, with the general consensus being that iPhone iOS 4.1 is a lot faster than 4.0.2.

Furthermore, happy consumers have also stated that apps on the iPhone 3G are now loading faster than before with iOS 4.1, naming Safari and Google Maps as a few examples.

For all 3G owners that are reading this, let us know how your iPhone 3G is handling iOS 4.1 at the moment. Have you noticed faster performance or not?

But like every other iPhone update, they do not come without their fair share of problems. We had over 120 comments from you about problems relating to iOS 4.0.1, while 4.0.2 also came with a few unexpected problems.

Aside from the new features that you’ll be getting within iOS 4.1, Apple promised that proximity sensor issues will be gone – can any of you confirm this?

We’ll probably hear about many bugs in the next few days, but for now, let us know if you have experienced any major problems after updating to iOS 4.1.
