Now that we are less than a day away from the iOS4 release date, we want to show you some more tips before iPhone iOS4 update time. This firmware update is more important for many users, while each person has a different reason, most people point to multitasking as one of the most wanted features.

Over the last 24-hours we posted information on how to get a micro sim, 12 important features ahead of iOS 4 release, and we also asked if you were ready? Those that really want to make sure your ready can read an article by Sebastien on the iPhone Download Blog, which touches on a few areas we have not.

Out of the seven tips, the last two are pretty pointless. But his article – How to Make Sure Your iPhone is Ready for iOS 4 – does touch on some important points. These include making sure you have iTunes 9.2 installed, making sure your device is compatible, backing up your current iPhone, and a few more valid points.

Read the complete article here on IDB, and then let us know any more tips you have in the comments. Happy updating.

A recent screenshot looking at the background processes for the recently unveiled iPhone 4.0 operating system has leaked some shocking information, this is because there is a background processor called ‘iChatAgent’.

Although this is currently unconfirmed it appears as if this background process could be for the popular Apple iChat software, this could bring video calling functionality to all iPhone OS 4.0 compliant devices.

Obviously at the moment none of the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad versions feature a front-facing camera, however this recent revelation could seriously hint towards a future iPhone version (iPhone 4G) featuring a front-facing camera.

If iChat does come to a future iPhone it could add even more strain to AT&T’s somewhat ‘fragile’ network, do you think AT&T’s network could deal with video calling?

Users of the first generation iPhone and many other Smartphone devices have seen a steady move forward to computer-like devices, which combine the use of popular features traditionally only seen on desktop computers.

An Apple Tablet computer is on the cards for the Apple event this Wednesday, and a new iPhone 4G is tipped for a summer 2010 release. These upcoming devices will want to take more desktop computer functions, and make them mobile.

The new iPhone is likely to come with the newer 4.0 OS, which is rumored to be backwards compatible with 3G and 3GS iPhones. Top10.co.uk reported in a news post today that the new iPhone OS 4.0 and 4G phone would have an emphasis on making the iPhones “more reminiscent of portable computers”.

It’s not clear how this will work and what functionality will change, but making the iPhone 4.0 OS backwards-compatible with the 3G phone will be a challenge, the device is close to celebrating it’s second birthday.

It’s still yet to be seen if any details are released about iPhone 4G or the new 4.0 OS at the January 27th event. We will keep you updated, and dissect the new operating system in detail when the news breaks.

We have discussed on a number of occasions that Apple are set to unveil its new Tablet device, the iSlate handheld computer at the end of this month. The latest rumors say that the device will run on the new iPhone OS 4.0, which will then be implemented on its 2010 smartphone.

If the Apple tablet is to run on the iPhone OS, then a few changes will need to be made, such as an extra screen resolution. The current device to run on iPhone OS 3.1 only has a 3.5-inch screen, the iSlate will have a 10.1-inch display; this will require a much higher resolution.

According to Brighthand.com, when the iSlate is announced later this month a new OS 4.0 SDK will be launched, allowing programmers to begin work on new apps for the tablet PC. However, we recently reported that the 100,000 iPhone applications would be able to run on this latest Apple device.

There is a problem with this though; most apps are set to run on an HVGA screen. The developers will have to modify their applications in order for it to run on the larger screen. These developers will have a helping hand though, as they will have access to a simulator, this will allow them to see how their apps will need to be altered to run on the new tablet device.

Not much is known about the iSlate, we do not know if it will be released on AT&T, Verizon or both and if it will offer 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Steve Jobs is expected to make an announcement on January 26 or 27, watch this space.
