Have you always wanted to try out Android OS on your iPhone but never got round to doing it? If so, you may be interested in this latest port, which brings Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the iPhone 2G, 3G and iPod Touch.

As reported from RedmondPie, we have a video to show you now, which confirms that this does indeed work and Android 2.3 Gingerbread – the latest version of Android for smartphones, can run on Apple’s iPhone and the first generation iPod Touch.

In order to perform this nifty trick, you’ll need to have a jailbroken handset, on either iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1 if you used the previous LimeRa1n method from hacker of the moment Geohot. If you want to give this a go, you’ll find the download links and instructions via this link.

Judging by the video below, we can see that the build is running pretty slow, which is why the download has been dubbed a ‘preview release’ only. We’re guessing that a much more smoother version is next on the cards, and you’ll be pleased to know that an iPhone 4 and iPad version is coming soon too.

If you have a iPhone 2G, 3G or iPod Touch 1G, try it out now by visiting the link above. For those of you who have previous experience trying out Android ports on iOS, is it worth the hassle or not?

On a side note, you can read the latest information on Android 2.3 Gingerbread here.

If you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS and are looking to unlock it using ultrasn0w, you’ll be pleased to know that we have a full tutorial for you to read which which will give you instructions on how to update to the latest version.

Like always, the tutorial guide comes to you courtesy of RedmondPie, as they have given us the important details on ultrasn0w 1.2, which has the ability to unlock certain basebands on iOS 4.2.1, and also iOS 4.1.

It is worth pointing out that this new unlock method does not work with the latest iPhone baseband, instead it will only work on jailbroken iPhones with basebands higher than 05.13.04.

Providing you meet the requirements, you can then head over to RedmondPie for a full guide on getting the unlock to work. As always, those of you with an iPhone 4 will have to wait a little longer for the iPhone Dev Team to work their magic once again.

If you are planning to try out the new ultrasn0w 1.2 software, let us know how you get on.

We have some good news for those of you who are wishing to unlock the recently released iOS 4.2.1, as we have a confirmed release date for when the software will be available to download.

As reported from RedmondPie, the unlock is only compatible with the iPhone 3G and 3GS at the moment, so those of you with an iPhone 4 will have to wait until a further solution becomes available.

iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has stated via Twitter that the updated version of ultrasn0w will work with all basebands on the iPhone 3G / 3GS, so you won’t have to worry about that side of things.

We don’t have an exact time for when the update will be live, but we can confirm that it will be available to download this Sunday. If you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS, let us know your thoughts on the update. If you still havent jailbroken your handset on iOS 4.2.1, you can view a helpful video guide here.

Three days ago we posted a video showing the iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2, previous iOS 4 versions didn’t run very well on the iPhone 3G, however iOS 4.2 seemed to run pretty much perfectly.

The iPhone 3G was released back in July 2008, therefore it is no surprise to see that its dated internal hardware struggles with iOS 4.0 and iOS 4.1′s impressive functionality and features, however it looks as if Apple’s developers have refined and tweaked iOS 4.2 so that it runs much, much better on the 3G than many would have expected.

You can see iOS 4.2 running on the iPhone 3G here, the version of iOS 4.2 running on this smartphone is not final, therefore the official iOS 4.2 may perform even better.

I must admit if I had an iPhone 3G I would install the update, my question is… will you?

When we first saw the iPhone 4 leaked on to the Internet – thanks Gizmodo – we did not realize how sexy the device was, it was only until you held it in your hands that you got to appreciate it. During the Apple keynote, Steve Jobs explained at how tough the new phone was, but it seems as if this is untrue.

The reason why I say this is because there have been a number of reports that the glass has started to shatter for some people, which has since been dubbed “Glassgate” – you have to laugh how people come up with these names.

CNN explains how a recent report shows that the fourth-generation iPhone is more fragile than previous version, including the 3GS and 3G models. According to Vince Tseng, the Marketing Vice President for SquareTrade “The surface area … which you can scratch or break has basically doubled.”

Almost 25 percent of the damaged iPhone’s were said to have been with broken glass; Apple as always has not commented on these latest findings. You have to wonder if the iPhone 4 was rushed in its development, you only have to look at the whole antenna saga to understand what I mean. It does not matter how sexy looking the handset is, we need something that not only works how it should, but can stand up to everyday abuse. Let us hope that Apple can redeem themselves with the iPhone 5.

There seems to be no end to what Redsn0w 0.9.6 can do, the latest is that iOS 4.1 Jailbreak is now able to run Game Center on the iPhone 3G. You can clearly see from the video below that it runs perfectly stable, the question is, would you chance it?

The whole process is a little complex, so should only be performed if you already know how the whole jailbreak process works. To get Game Center running on your jailbroken iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1 you will first need to make a few changes to a few. plist files.

These files can be found in the original file for GameCenter.ipa, you will then have to SSH’ing this modified file to your iPhone. Taimur Asad from Redmond Pie explains that you will have to modify .ipa files, which means that you have to break Apple’s DRM, Asad said that he does not want to go any further with the instructions.

It seems as if iPhone owners have gone jailbreak mad, owners do not seem worried about jailbreaking their handsets anymore, which was once something that many owners did not discuss. Let us how you got on with porting Game Center.

We have some good news for iPhone 3G owners who are yet to update to iPhone iOS 4.1, as it looks as if Apple’s new update sorts out a few performance issues that a lot of you have been complaining about recently.

CNET has posted a collection of user reviews, all from iPhone 3G owners who have already updated. Most of them are extremely satisfied with the update, with the general consensus being that iPhone iOS 4.1 is a lot faster than 4.0.2.

Furthermore, happy consumers have also stated that apps on the iPhone 3G are now loading faster than before with iOS 4.1, naming Safari and Google Maps as a few examples.

For all 3G owners that are reading this, let us know how your iPhone 3G is handling iOS 4.1 at the moment. Have you noticed faster performance or not?

When we start reviewing products that have been sent to us we would normally talk about the packaging and how well presented it is. There is one problem with that, who really cares. Things are a little different for this iPhone 3G Hands Free Car Mount Charging Kit from WirelessGround.Com, as the product was sent to us in a plain white box. This however is a good thing, why waste money on all that packaging when all we do is throw it away, so I think that this product has already got off to a great start.

If you are the owner of an Apple (AAPL) iPhone 3G and are looking for a solution to charge your handset as well as take calls while driving, then this product has been designed for you. It is worth noting that as you will be able to keep both hands on the wheel, you are less likely to have an accident, as well as break the law.

The Apple iPhone 3G Hands Free Car Mount Charging Kit consists of just three parts, the cradle with built-in mic, the windscreen sucker, and the external speaker that plugs into your cigarette lighter for charging.

All three products are black in color and have been made from plastic, and all though the items are light, they did seem to have a good build quality. When we connected the sucker part of the device to the cradle we had a bit of trouble at first, but it did finally connect with each other. The hands free device certainly looked long at that point, but after a bit of manipulation with the device we were able to find the perfect shape.

Connecting our iPhone was such a simple task, just slot the external speaker into the cigarette lighter of your vehicle then place your iPhone in the cradle. Once that is done just connect the jack plug in the headphone socket of your handset, then connect the small connector into the side of the cradle which also houses the mic.

That is all there is to it, you are ready to make and receive calls. When a call comes in all you need to do is hit the button on the external speaker, this has a symbol of a phone. I have to say that we were shocked at the audio quality of the microphone and external speaker it was crystal clear.
