When we reported to you the other day that AT&T were to roll out new data plan charges for 2010 we knew that this would upset a huge percentage of the carriers customers. There are those who will end up saving money with these news costs, but those who have an Apple iPad or iPhone will end up paying more as time goes on.

The new data plans will coincide with WWDC 2010 and start on June 7, users will have to pay $25 per month to receive up to 2GB of data per month, if you go over that then the price will be $10 per gigabyte. We have to inform you that this only applies to new customers, existing customers will still benefit from an all you can eat buffet of data.

Wondering if you are happy with this latest change will only apply to new customers – not certain if those already on AT&T will care that those new to the carrier will get this bum deal?

2GB of data does not sound that bad at first glance, but those who will sign up to AT&T to get their hands on the new iPad or the new 2010 iPhone when Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs announces it at the Worldwide Developers Conference tomorrow will not. The reason for this is simple – these devices are made for doing much more than browsing the net, you can watch videos on them or download music via iTunes or apps via the App Store, all of which will take you way over that 2GB data limit.

David Goldman from CNN Money points at that iPad owners signed up to Netflix will only be able to stream from 6 to 12 hours of movies or TV shows – depending on the quality. Goldman made a great point when he suggested that these new AT&T monthly data plans are much like the cell phone plans that we were used to in the early days – so you can understand users frustration.

We wanted to know if users would be happy about the cost of these new data plans, so we turned to a poll on Cnet News to learn more. 37 percent of the votes have come from existing customers, where they say that they will keep their $30 plan forever – who can blame them? 29 percent are angry and wish that the unlimited were still available. You do not have to be a genius to understand that the masses are not happy – get the full results of that poll by visiting Cnet News via the link above.

With the WWDC 2010 just days away, and with the numerous leaks of Apple’s new iPhone, speculation of what any new device will be like has been going crazy. The leaked prototype discovered by Gizmodo has brought with it some new features that could be on the device.

The changes that may be taking place with the new device could be on the prototype, but that does not guarantee they will find their way onto any released product. So far some of the changes thought to be happening are a front facing video camera, improved regular camera with a flash, and a larger battery.

As we reported earlier when Steve Jobs starts his Keynote speech on the 7th of June, he could completely blow away all the hype about the new iPhone so far. All the leaks that have come could be a clever bit of marketing by Apple.

We might be in store for some surprises as Steve Jobs has already said Apple fans “won’t be disappointed” with the new iPhone. I personally would like to see a much better camera with at least 5 mega pixels. What changes from the prototype leak would you like to see on the next iPhone?

The new iPhone 2010 should be announced at WWDC this Monday, Apple fans will be waiting in anticipation to find out when they will be able to get their hands on the latest smartphone. However, Alan Ng recently wrote a post saying that the next iPhone is over hyped and lists ten reasons why not to buy. One of those reasons is because the iPhone is anti-technology.

This is certainly a bold statement – one that deserved a closer look. We would like to point out that it was not Alan who made this statement, rather his source – the Telegraph. They start by saying that when Apple first launched the iPhone it was cutting-edge technology, now it seems that Apple is holding out on us.

Most smartphones allow you to use it as a shareable Wi-Fi hotspot – something that Apple does not. It is not that they cannot do it; it is just down to economics. We hope that Apple will come to its senses soon and give the customers what they want.

Another reason why the iPhone or rather Apple is anti-technology is because of iPod and iPhone docks. If they did not push hotels to supply these docks then there would be more Wi-Fi radios hitting the market. It is for this reasons that not enough new technologies are hitting this market.

Do you have any other reasons why the iPhone is anti-technology?

As we draw ever closer to WWDC we begin to learn of more news about the new iPhone for 2010. Most of my family tell me that they are now bored with hearing about the fourth-generation iPhone from Apple – but we here at Product-reviews and most of our readers still crave for more.

Today we look back on what things we have learned today by going over some of our recent posts. Our most recent post was looking into the names that the new iPhone is known by – for those of you who only know the smartphone as the iPhone 4G, then you have much to learn.

Some of the names that have been doing the rounds on the Internet include: N90, Mammoth, 4GS, Pro and HD. As mentioned later in that post – we would find it funny if Steve Jobs announced it as a different name on Monday.

Another 10 Expectations of the 2010 iPhone is a recent post written today by Jamie Pert. I have to say that this was a more detailed post, where Jamie went into detail about what we would like to see from the new iPhone.

He picks up on the fact that we do not know as much as we think we do about the new iPhone – even though one was left in a bar and later found its way onto Gizmodo for a full review for the world to see.

The final post that we covered today on the new 2010 iPhone was new pictures of the white iPhone 4G ahead of WWDC 2010. The source states that the images came to them from a supplier – how much truth in this we will have to wait and see.

We are certain that we will cover many more posts before Monday, that’s three whole days of posting before the big event. No doubt the amount of information on the fourth-generation iPhone will now move up a gear – although we have to get another smartphone launch out of the way first, the HTC EVO 4G.

APPLE CEO, Steve Jobs, should announce the new iPhone 2010 at WWDC on Monday, June 7 during a keynote address. We feel that we already know so much about the upcoming handset – well all except its price and more importantly its name. We wonder what a name means to you?

Over the months we have known the fourth-generation smartphone from Apple as the iPhone 4G, HD, Pro, N90 and Mammoth, which Phonesreview discussed. Let us take a closer look into these names; the N90 will never happen as this sounds too much like a Nokia – something that Apple will never want. The Mammoth represents something that is extinct, so cannot see Jobs going for that either.

A huge number of people have latched onto the name iPhone 4G, but why would Apple go for this name as users will get confused and be convinced that they have an iPhone that uses 4G technology – something that we know will not happen. Not that Apple does not have the technology – rather AT&T is unable to implement it on a large scale yet. However, this could lead to Apple allowing the likes of Sprint to start offering the new iPhone to its customers, something that Steve Jobs hinted at during his interview at D8.

We recently wrote an article suggesting that the new iPhone could actually be called the 4GS; this is because an “iPhone 4GS” case popped up. We would not read anything into this – then again we thought that when Gizmodo offered us a first review of what we now know is the new 2010 iPhone.

Normally before a WWDC event we have been blinded with so many rumors on the next iPhone that it is hard to tell what is fact or fiction. This year is so much different as we now know what the new Apple smartphone looks like and most of its specs as well. There is still so much we do not know, so hopefully Steve Jobs will still have something to do while on stage.

I would not like to make a guess as to what the name of the next iPhone will be, but it would be funny if none of the names were right and Apple called it something totally different. Whatever it will be called it will be a superb handset made even better with the launch of iPhone OS 4.0.

How much does a name really matter now that we know so much about the new 2010 iPhone?

A story by Sinead Carew from Reuters is reporting that AT&T are claiming that 40 percent of its iPhone sales since the start of the year are to business users. But we are asking if the new iPhone 2010 will increase business users further?

AT&T would not say exactly how many iPhones they have sold since 2007, but estimates are about 15 million. This works out at approximately 17% of their customer base.

A comment from a reader on the page of the story has said “The numbers provided by AT&T are a hoax”. They go on to say that to be eligible for a discount they have to provide a corporate email address to AT&T; this gets them a 7% discount from the iPhone plan. Being part of this plan automatically classes them as a business customer.

The reader goes on to say that their company does not allow iPhones as they do not pass corporate security guidelines, and knows of other people who work for companies such as Goldman Sachs and IBM who are in the same situation.

We cannot claim these figures are a hoax, but what do you think about the claim, and will the new iPhone increase business customers?

There are two questions that we hope to see answered at WWDC 2010, when will Apple launch its new iPhone and will it be available on Verizon Wireless? We are almost certain that Steve Jobs will unveil the new iPhone, which has been dubbed 4G, as it is the fourth-generation Apple smartphone. But do not expect the CEO to announce the release of a Verizon version at the event.

We know that Apple and AT&T have extended their exclusivity agreement – most likely until the end of the year, but we have heard reports that we could see a Big Red version in September. However, there is no more proof of this since WSJ broke the story a couple of months back.

Jobs will have a hard time telling the world of the new design and features of the next iPhone – this has something to do with a recent iPhone prototype appearing on Gizmodo. Suzanne Choney from MSNBC points out a great statement from Gene Munster, an Apple analyst from of Piper Jaffray, saying that Steve Jobs has “little room for surprise at WWDC. However, we are certain that Jobs still has a surprise or two waiting – but do not be fooled into thinking that this will be a Verizon iPhone.

Katy Huberty, an analyst for Morgan Stanley expects that the iPhone will only come to Verizon once they have their 4G LTE in place – this should be much sooner than AT&T. This will not happen until 2011 at least.

We hope to have conformation of the new iPhone 4G at WWDC 2010, and hopefully Steve Jobs will also announce its release date. Most of us have decided that Apple will call its fourth-generation iPhone 4G, but there have been some other names kicking about – such as HD and Pro.

We have already marked June 7 in our calendars so we know where we will be, but where will you be on this important day for the smartphone market? Apple have not hinted as to what they will discuss in 12 days time – the iPhone prototype that Gizmodo got their hands on suggests a new handset, but we have been wrong in the past.

We know that Steve Jobs and his team will big up the iPad and its huge sales numbers, and we know for certain that more details on iPhone OS 4.0 will come under discussion. Trying to predict what Apple will do at such events has become much harder over time, we all assumed that Jobs would announce a Verizon iPhone back in January – look how wrong we were, as they have just extended their exclusivity deal with AT&T.

We just hope that with the recent Foxconn events it will not affect the outcome of WWDC 2010 – will they be able to handle the huge numbers of new iPhone handsets for 2010? There have been fears of strikes – something that the likes of Apple, Dell, HP and other electronics makers all fear.

We recently reported that the new 2010 Apple iPhone 4G could be released as early as April, and according to the latest new, France Telecom who we know for recently admitting to an Apple Tablet has announced that they are to get the 4th generation iPhone in May.

There has been no official statement from Apple, so is very hard to believe. However, we have to remember that the iPhone maker has always been secretive, so there could be some truth to the latest rumors.

We have to wonder how all this hype of a 4G iPhone has surfaced again, considering the fact that the Apple Tablet PC is due to hit the market first. The strange thing is, the iPhone usually gets launched in June or July, so why would Apple feel the need to break that cycle.

According to a report from iphon.fr, which had to be translated by theiphoneblog.com, states that the reason why Apple are to launch the iPhone in May is due to the constant attack from Google and its range of Android running smartphones.

Do you think that there is any truth to the rumor, will the 2010 Apple iPhone 4G be launched in May?

Apple had a great 2009 with the launch of its iPhone 3GS and other products, but 2010 looks to be even better. Last year was not a great time for many companies, but Apple was one of the few to show a profit. This will be even greater this year if the rumors of an Apple tablet and the iPhone 4G are true.

2009 was all about the rumors of the new 2010 iPhone; we just hope that this year will be more about fact. Back in November 2009 we reported that the 4G iPhone was spotted in field testing and looked to have the much-anticipated OLED screen and an improved battery.

In December we learned that Toshiba had announced their 64GB NAND flash memory. This would mean that Apple would do away with the 16GB version and offer the 32GB and 64GB version instead. However, we have to stress that this would push up the cost of the new handset.

At the beginning of the year we learned that the Next-gen iPhone would boost location sharing along with a front-facing camera. Last week we reported that the rumored Apple tablet would run on the new iPhone 4.0 OS, we would assume that this would be implemented on the new handset in the summer.

We know that the iPhone 4G is still a rumor however, Apple has an event at the end of this month and are expected to announce the launch of their tablet device and the new 2010 iPhone. Visit us again on January 27, where we will hopefully have more information for you.
