With each year our technology gets better and smaller, which also means that they are at risk from damage due to how fragile they are. This is also the case with Apple’s latest tablet, which is much lighter and thinner than its predecessor. However, there is a solution to keeping it safe, and that is with an iPad 2 keyboard that prevents damage.

The “Keycase Pro Folio for iPad “ is very much the same as the one that they released to the market last year, which combined a protective case and a Bluetooth keyboard. They hope to have the same success as the previous model, which proved to be a very good seller.

With so many choices of these kinds of accessories on the market it is often hard to choose, so you need to be aware of a few things. The first is decide if you even need such a case, as some of you only need a case without the need for a keyboard. However, for those who will be doing a huge amount of typing while on the way to the office or a meeting, then the “Keycase Pro Folio Case” will be perfect.

So now that you have decided that you need such a device, you then have to ask why you need to choose this particular one? Again, this is a no-brainer, as some other ones on the market only have silicon keys, whereas this model has hard keys. Choosing the former would be like going back to a Sinclair ZX81.

Having said all that above, if we had to choose then we would go for the “Logitech Keyboard Case by ZAGG.” This costs about the same, but what you get is an aircraft-grade aluminum finish, which matches perfectly with the design of Apple’s tablet. More details on this can be found on the ZAGG website. If you would rather go with the case mentioned above then visit MobileFun.

Now that Apple has finally unveiled the new iPad 2 we thought that some of you would appreciate some information regarding the tablet’s many accessories, today we will look at the Apple Digital AV Adapter.

The Apple Digital AV Adapter connects to your Apple device via its 30-pin dock connector, it mirrors whatever is showing on your iPad 2′s display onto your HDTV, it outputs at a maximum of 1080p, however movies play at up to 720p.

The adapter also features a second 30-pin connector, this means you can charge and sync your iPad 2 whilst it is connected to your HDTV, as you probably expected the adapter features a HDMI port, this allows it to connect to any HDMI-compatible display.

Despite this being a new product it is not just compatible with the iPad 2, it also works with the original iPad, iPod Touch (4th-gen) and iPhone 4, you can buy yours for $39.00 from the Apple Store here.

If you read the small-print on the Apple Store you will see that the iPad 2 is the only device which will allow you to mirror its display, also the iPad 2 is the only device which supports 1080p output, the iPhone 4, iPod Touch (4th-gen) and Apple iPad support output of up to 720p.

Will you buy the Apple Digital AV Adapter?

When I first bought the Apple iPad for my wife last year the first accessory that I purchased with it was the official iPad case. I only did this, as it meant that I would receive both items at the same time. The case is ok – not the best, but it does the job. However, if you wish to work in portrait mode forget it, as the accessory only folds over for landscape only.

This now leads me to the TabGrip, which we had sent to us for review. It certainly makes a change to be sent something that can be used instead of collecting dust. Let us get one thing out of the way first; if you are looking for something to protect your iPad screen while not in use, then this accessory is not for you.

Upon unwrapping the item I found it very strange to have something floppy with hard plastic parts at the end. However, this all becomes tight and sturdy once clipped into place on Apple’s tablet. I am not certain if there is a certain way that the TabGrip should be placed, so I decided to look at the picture on the card that comes with it.

It was then that I noticed two issues, one of the speaker holes was blocked and how would I charge the iPad? Thankfully the latter turned out not to be an issue, all you do is turn one of the kickstands to reveal a hole, which allows the charger to fit through.

There are four kickstands in all, so you can work in both landscape and portrait mode. Using the above-mentioned case from Apple is ok, but it’s not exactly sturdy. The TabGrip however is different, when you adjust the stands in the desired position the iPad does not slide about – making it much easier to work.

Remember to read the warning message that comes with the TabGrip, only use light pressure when typing, applying too much will cause the kickstands to collapse – now you would not want that would you?

When it comes to taking the grip back off, it is then that I start to worry. You have to use a certain amount of pressure – too much for my liking. If you have a child who has an iPad, then there is no chance that he/she will remove or put it on come to that. It certainly needs an older child or adult to safely do this. Overall the TabGrip is a superb accessory, one that you should consider if you do not already have a similar product. The price you pay is just $39.99, to purchase or for more details then visit www.tabgrip.com or view the video that we have embedded for you below.

Elliptic-Labs is a company based in Oslo, they have developed a really innovative cleverly designed docking station for the iPad. The docking station allows you to use your iPad without actually touching the screen. It works in a similar way to the ‘touchless’ system of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect.

You can imagine using this in every day life. When cooking or baking and you have grubby hands, you can still use your iPad, this would be effective if you were following a recipe. The technology inside the dock uses ultrasound that looks in a specific zone for any hand movement.

According to electronista.com the Dock isn’t quite as advanced as the Kinect, the device only recognizes a few gestures. You can see an example of it’s functionality in the video at the bottom of our article.

So far we are unaware of the price of the device but we do know that Elliptic-labs will have a stand at the CES 2011 event in Las Vegas next month.

If you want to learn a bit more about Elliptic-Labs then you can head over to their official webpage by clicking here.

What do you think of the option of gesture control for an Apple iPad? Let us know in the comments below.
