Now we’re well into May it seems that WWDC 2012 is just moments away, and this also means a close look at iOS 6 if rumors are to be believed. While iOS 5 offered many improvements it seems there are plenty of features still lacking, which millions of iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad owners are crying out for, so what do you want from iOS 6?

The amount of blogs offering their ideas for iOS 6 is increasing, especially the closer we get to the next Apple event, and these include lists of suggestions, improvements, wishlists, and specific features demanded by users. One of the most wanted enhancements from gamers is support for controllers, which could see games like N.O.V.A. 3 – seen in the video below this article – shine with an iPad controller.

Today we wanted to show you some of the best insight into possible features for iOS 6, and some of these improvements have already been rumored by a number of sources, so they could very well be in the next iOS although others are pure speculation and very unlikely to come.

Michael Grothaus has offered 15 suggestions for iOS 6 and this list includes a request to open up Siri’s API, the idea of multiple users on iPad, Facebook integration, multitasking gestures for iPhone, AirDrop for iOS, Safari Top Sites, and a few more possibilities.

Jason D. O’Grady looks at 20 improvements for iOS 6 that include some seen before, although you’d also find other ideas like protection from rogue apps, an option for intelligent CallerID, text back a caller, the ability to permanently block voice spam, improvements to iOS printing, customizable lock screen, and more.

Thomas Claburn also repeats a few ideas for iOS 6 that we’ve heard before but also adds in some more innovation needed for the next software update, and these include Auto App Updating, a way to script app actions in iOS that are based on certain conditions, support for external storage, and an Intent System like Android Intents plus a few more suggestions.

What do you think is missing from iOS 5, and should be included in iOS 6?

We are only a few days away from the special Apple event in San Francisco that will showcase the next version of the iPad. Since the invites were sent out by the company we have seen a number of reports about the device speculating on what Apple may have instore. Now today we have some more rumors regarding the pricing of the device and iOS 6 software.

A few days ago we heard talk that the new iPad could see an increase in pricing of around $70 to $80, which was put down to the proposed Retina Display rumored to be coming with the new model. This was met with dismay from many of our readers that were unsure if they wanted to pay the extra. But now there may be some good news if a report on 9TO5 Mac is accurate.

It seems the iPad 3 will cost the same across the range compared with the current version, and falls in line with what Apple normally does as it very rarely pushes up prices. To further add to the good news if you live in a country that has seen its currency strengthen against the US dollar, you may even make a slight saving.

There are also claims that the storage options will be the same as well, which contradicts other reports this week that Apple were ditching the 64GB version. Meanwhile the team over at Ars Technica has spotted some evidence of Apple staff using the so called iPad 3 running iOS 6. It is thought Apple may be ready to release iOS 5.1 next week to coincide with the new version of the iPad, but it seems Apple is well underway with the development of iOS 6.

When the site was looking through their logs it was found that there were 365 visits from a device that had a display with the resolution of 2048 x 1536. This is what’s thought to be coming with the iPad 3 and its rumored Retina Display. Normally this wouldn’t be much to go on, but it was also noticed that it was done with iPads running iOS 6 along with iOS 5 and iOS 5.1.

It is not thought Apple will release the iOS 6 operating system anytime soon, but the company may treat us to a preview of it next week at the iPad 3 event. Who knows it may become available in the summer with an iPhone 5 release. Do you think we will see an iOS 6 preview next week?

The moment iOS 5 got released some users started to look towards the next updates, and what was missing from the current software on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Now that we’re a few months on, the focus has turned towards iOS 6 and some users want a little more originality when it’s released next year.

We’ve heard Android users continually complain that iOS is late to the game with many of its features, although the software on the iPhone alone stacks up pretty well against Androids army of devices. We’d have to agree with some of our readers that have commented on apps that can be downloaded to do tasks people are wishing for in iOS 6, which are free in many cases.

Are you happy to download apps for many features not in iOS 5, or do you want to see some of these features built-in iOS 6 when it’s launched, which could be revealed at WWDC 2012? While Apple has to be selective of the features it builds into iOS 6, you can count on much better integration when they’re installed with the iOS, so with that in mind some innovative apps could contain features that are perfect for iOS 6.

You can see a video below that was uploaded to YouTube back in July, it has had around 13,000 views and a number of comments, which most of the feedback agrees with the simple ideas wished for iOS 6, although it’s interesting that some people point to an iPhone jailbreak for certain features, and call people “lazy” for not jailbreaking their devices. This seems a strange line of thought considering the risks some users feel jailbreaking puts their devices under, where do you stand on getting features not in iOS 5 by jailbreaking?

The fact is Apple cannot make everyone happy, so if they listen carefully to their users, it’s hoped they would develop features most users want in iOS 6. We’d love to see a little more originality, although every user will want certain apps as standard features in the next iOS, which are different to other people, so feel free to share yours.

Here are a few ideas for iOS 6 improvements – do you have a wishlist? Facebook integration, upside-down support and improved landscape integration, rich text editing as standard, a better music equalizer, Facetime 3G support when you got great signal, an improved maps app is likely with Apple buying related companies, an improved YouTube app and AirDrop integration. We heard about the possibility of 3D maps for a future iOS in an earlier article.

A few months on and Apple has still yet to solve a number of issues with iOS 5 – battery life is still shocking – so it’s only obvious that we would now look ahead to the next version. We thought we would name this post iOS 6 revisited, as we will be looking at what some of our readers have been asking for, as well as some of the latest rumors.

One such feature, which would be welcomed, is a file manager. As we know when you open a file, they open in separate programs and then save a copy. It would be much simpler if there was a central place where all attachments were stored, that way you could organize things much easier.

iPad owners have been getting in on the debate as well, as it seems they would like the weather and clock app that iPhone users have. One wanted feature that we found of interest was a voicemail app; this would make it much easier than trying to change your settings with the carrier – talk about long-winded.

There is a feature that gets asked for all the time, yet Apple still ignores their customers. Owners of the iPhone do not like how they are not able to create a custom ringtone, but we think this is one feature where Apple will never give in. If they do not want to give them that, then why not a compromise, give them the facility to auto-block numbers by list. There are many old phones that could do this, so why can’t one of the best smartphones in the world do this simple task?

TechRadar readers have also been having their say about what they would like to see from iOS 6. Here we will list just a few of them for you. The first is for Siri to work on other iOS devices apart from the iPhone 4S. FaceTime over 3G; although this could have a serious affect on your monthly bill. New Maps, and this is one feature that we all agree on, as the current version is very basic. Finally quicker access to Airplane mode, but we have recently learned that this could be accessed via Siri in the upcoming iOS 5 update.

Going back to an update for maps on the current iOS, Christian News has learned that Apple could be considering 3D iOS Maps App, which you can see for yourself in the video below.

What other ideas do you have?

We have to laugh at the latest news regarding possible WWDC 2012 dates, as it has only been a week and half since Steve Jobs wrapped up this years event. We just hope that if these dates are true, then we can start to offer our release expectations regarding iOS 6 and the iPhone 6. OK, so we know we are getting ahead of ourselves, but these things have to be looked in to.

MacRumors has been looking at what events the Moscone Center has going on next year, and we can see that June 10- 15 has been earmarked for Apple’s WWDC 2012 event. We should not jump ahead of ourselves here, as these days are provisional. However, we cannot see that these dates are accurate, as that would mean that Steve Jobs would hold his keynote on a Sunday. Maybe it will be the 16th, and that the day before will be when Apple takes over the venue to get ready?

The launch of iOS 5 was seen as a huge success for Apple, and will finally give the iPhone and iPad a few much-needed features – even if they have been borrowed from Android and Windows Phone. However, one would expect Apple to step it up another gear and come up with yet more needed features and tweaks. iOS 6 will need to be ready for 4G, as we expect next years iPhone to fully support the technology.

The sixth-generation iPhone should come with a new design, unlike the iPhone 5, which is said to be just a minor spec bump and nothing else. We should expect a few more things from iPhone 6, and that is a complete redesign, improved battery and also dual GSM/CDMA support. Oh one more thing, it should also be available on all four main carriers in the U.S.

Now that we have learned what Apple has been up to with iOS 5, we thought that this would be the perfect opportunity for an iOS 6 wish list for its 2012 release. Apple will have to bring a few special things to the plate, as this will be expected to be installed in the iPhone 6, which should offer full 4G LTE connectivity.

We have already seen with iOS 5 that Apple has taken a huge leap forward in terms of features. Yes, we do know that they have copied a few key features from rivals, but we discussed earlier that this is common in such a market. Now that the upcoming iOS will come with a host of iCloud features, you have to wonder what will come next?

Personally we would love to see a way to cancel a SMS before it is sent, we cannot remember how many times we have started to send one, only to find it was going to the wrong person. Another feature that seems to have been missed with iOS 5 is turn-by-turn directions; we had assumed that it was coming – but we were wrong.

We still do not know what all of the updates are on iOS 5, as Apple only gave us a handful. We have just learned that Voice Control will still make it, but that’s all we know at this moment. What is your iOS 6 wish list for 2012?
