When Apple released iOS 6.1.3 update a week ago we assumed this would put an end to the passcode problem. However, this was not the case as the issue still persists, which we already discussed. This is not the only problem though, as we know of 5 other iOS 6.1.3 issues, which have angered users and as such are asking for Apple to rush update 6.1.4 out.

Looking over those five issues thanks to GottaBe Mobile, we can see why the release of iOS 6.1.4 update is essential, but we’re certain Apple will take their sweet time and more than likely will be unable to rectify all these issues because they are probably putting more effort into iOS 7 now.

While the idea of this will anger iOS users, it kind of makes sense, as Jony Ive will want to forget all about the current mobile OS because it has been considered a failure.

So what are these five iOS 6.1.3 issues? Well firstly while the Exchange issues have been vastly improved, they are still there because of abnormal activity. The battery life drain with the iPhone 5 seems worse than ever, and we feel as though this issue will never be resolved until iOS 7 is released later this year.

We have also learned those dreaded WiFi issues have returned after being resolved with iOS 6.1.2, although I have yet to personally see such an issue.

The final two issues are a loss of sound as some users have been unable to hear any sound from their iPhone, and security issues with the iPhone 4. There is a workaround with these security problems, but it can be a little tricky.

Do you believe Apple has given up trying to improve iOS 6 and is putting all its effort into making iOS 7 the best version yet, as well as not making the same mistakes we have seen in the past?

A few days ago Apple felt the need to issue an iOS 6.1.1 update for the iPhone 4S because of network connectivity issues, while those with the iPhone 5 had to stick with iOS 6.1. However, things are still not looking good for Apple, as they may need to issue another update to fix iPhone passcode problems that some users have been experiencing.

The iPhone passcode lock system has come under scrutiny before, and now there is a new problem where the system can be bypassed. If we are to believe the rumor then this exploit can be found on all iPhones with iOS 6.1 installed, and if this is the case then we await the release date of iOS 6.1.2.

Many iPhone owners will believe that this is not a bug and is just something specific to jailbroken iPhones, but you would be wrong, as it certainly looks to be a standard iPhone to us.

When Apple first launched iOS there were a few issues here and there, but as they update iOS to newer versions there seems to be far more issues, even the latest iOS 6.1 review shows that the mobile OS is hounded by problems, and not just with its Wi-Fi or battery performance.

We can’t seem to keep up with needed updates anymore, because it was first assumed that the iOS 6.1.1 download was going to deliver a Maps update for Japan, but as we said above this was released earlier this week just to rectify the connectivity problems.

As a result we then assumed that iOS 6.1.2 would offer those new Apple Maps updates, and it still can, but it’s more likely to resolve the current passcode lock problem first. Personally I’ve never used the passcode lock, while I know people who constantly use theirs and reset the code on a regular basis in the hope of keeping it safe. I do however use Find My iPhone, so I can lock or kill my iPhone if I lose it.

The latest edition of Apple’s iOS mobile operating system hasn’t exactly had the smoothest of rides. First it was network connectivity issues and now it’s this glitch, which lets you bypass the passcode lock.

Looking at the video footage above it is clear that there is a iPhone passcode problem with iOS 6.1.1, but having tried this on our iPhone 5 we could not recreate the security issue. However, if others are having the same issue as the guy in the video then it could be open season for would be iPhone thieves.

If you were to ask any iPhone user we bet many of them will say that iOS 6 is the worst version to date, and when Apple say that they have released 200 new features where are they? It’s for this reason why so many of us are looking forward to iOS 7, and while we are sure that this will also release with several issues, surely it cannot be as bad as iOS 6?

Towards the end of last week Vodafone sent out a message to all their customers with an iPhone 4S that they should hold off updating to 6.1 because issue with 3G and also certain performance issues. Thankfully these have now been resolved with the release of iOS 6.1.1, but there seems to be some confusion.

The reason we say this because Apple had said that iOS 6.1.1 was going to offer updates to the Maps app for Japan. However, we are now being told that this will be put back and included in iOS 6.2. It does seem strange how Apple has been quick to resolve the 4S issues when it’s clear that there are still problems with the iPhone 5.

We had hoped that this latest iOS update was going to be made available for the iPhone 5 as well, so being shunned like this is not going to sit well with those who are still experiencing Wi-Fi, battery and other issues with their iPhone 5.

Having said that, iPhone 4S owners have also been experiencing issues with their battery, in some cases these handsets have been running a little on the hot side, which is why we find it strange that there is no mention of this in iOS 6.1.1.

We have now downloaded and installed the update on my wife’s iPhone 4S and had no trouble at all. However, we have heard reports that some users have had issues, with one reporting that the update caused their 4S to brick itself. Have you had any issues with iOS 6.1.1?

Many excited consumers were expecting the Evasi0n iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 to release this Sunday during the 2013 Superbowl. Unfortunately, it appears that the Evad3rs team need a little more time as we can now confirm that the software will be released on Monday instead. Although no set release time has been confirmed, there appears to be a hidden countdown in place providing a set time for when the download will be live.

While some of you may have enjoyed a new Iron Man 3 trailer and Beyonce’s performance at the Superbowl, the untethered jailbreak was a highlight for many of you and it’s a bit disappointing that the download is still not out. However, if you head to the Evad3rs website, you’ll see that the progress bar is still ongoing and a Tweet by the newly-formed jailbreak team confirms that the untethered jailbreak will now release on Monday for everyone.

On the website, there isn’t an exact time, but some code discovered on Twitter and noted by RedmondPie reveals that the progress bar is moving up slowly automatically, by 0.0045% every 30 seconds to be exact. This means that if it continues through the night, the iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak will be officially released at 9am Pacific Time or 12pm Eastern Time.

It’s a nice little teaser by the jailbreak team and it gives those of you who are looking for the download something to get excited about. When the jailbreak is finally live, details on the website suggest that the process will be a straightforward one and will only take around 5 minutes to install.

Additional notes also confirm that you’ll need to connect your iOS device to a computer with USB cable and you are also advised to disable any pass lock you may have in place, as it may cause issues with the download – apparently. Opening up iTunes during the installation is also a big no and users should always backup devices before starting the download.

So there we have it – the jailbreak is out in a matter of hours. It’s been a long time waiting, but will you be installing this the moment the download is live?

Every time Apple brings out a new update for their iOS devices it either makes previous issues worse or brings along a few new ones. iOS 6.1 update is no different because it delivers several iPhone 5 problems, some of which we have experienced. What we find strange is how Apple has brought in some new features and fixes to several problems that we have not been aware of, but what about those everyday issues that are affecting a huge percentage of iPhone 5 users?

A quick visit to the Apple Support Communities shows a huge list of iOS 6.1 iPhone 5 problems, such as some users being unable to sync their phone via Wi-Fi or even a hard wire connection with a lead to their computer. The process gets so far but at step 7 it cannot go any further, which is a huge issue if you have new items on your phone you wish to sync to your computer.

There have been others who have said that after they updated to iOS 6.1 with their AT&T iPhone 5 they seem to have lost service or when they get it back the signal bars are very low. However, once they make a call the service goes to full signal. We’ve not heard of this one and wonder if it is new or just specific to certain individuals?

We already knew that there was a battery issue, but now iOS 6.1 seems to have made the battery problems even worse, something that we know only too well as we are having to charge ours on a more regular basis. I’ve noticed that leaving the iPhone 5 on standby over night can see the battery drop by at least 8 to 10 percent, which is far greater than it was before. We should all learn to be more aware and not update the moment Apple makes a new version of iOS available – when will we ever learn?

One final iOS 6.1 issue is with Siri, as in a few cases this service has stopped working when you use headphones. The bug only occurs when the headphones and phone are in the pocket and not when taken out. It’s suggested that it could be a proximity sensor issue, but we’re not too sure. Some users have complained that Apple should have updated Apple Maps with iOS 6.1, but we do know that they recently said that this would be done on the fly.

What iOS 6.1 problems with the iPhone 5 have you experienced?

We have some good news for iOS owners and the news you have been waiting to hear for a long time. Earlier this week Apple released beta 5 of iOS 6, but just hours ago Apple has now gone live with a full iOS 6.1 software update that is ready for public download. If you were expecting to see a full revamp of the criticized Maps application though, you are in for a disappointment.

If you go to the settings menu of your iOS device, you’ll see that the iOS 6.1 update is now ready to install OTA and weighs in at 78.7MB. Before you go ahead and update, you can see the changelog that Apple has posted, but unfortunately the changes are very minimal it has to be said.

One of the key changes in the new update is that LTE support has been extended to reach more carriers. As we told you earlier this week with the release of iOS 6.1 beta 5, movie ticket purchasing with Fandango is now available when using the Siri application. Other than that – there is nothing else to get excited about, but more importantly perhaps – no major changes to the Maps application.

It’s fair to say that a lot of iOS 6 users have now switched to Google Maps as their default mapping software, as it seems like Apple still needs more time to get their Maps app working as intended. At the moment, accuracy of searches are still not perfect and consumers are having a lot more success when using Google’s Maps software instead.

Tim Cook famously said that their Maps app is below par at the moment, so you should at least know that changes will be coming eventually. It hasn’t happened in iOS 6.1 though so let’s hope that iOS 6.2 will give consumers the overhaul that it badly needs.

Are you surprised to see that there has been no major improvements to Apple Maps on iOS 6.1, considering that many have now switched to Google Maps?

We have had another breakthrough in the jailbreak scene to tell you about, this time for those who are already getting to grips with the beta 4 of iOS 6.1 that is available for those with an Apple developer account. iOS 6.1 beta 4 has been jailbroken already, indicating that Apple still has their work cut out to ensure security loop holes are covered up by the time the company releases their iOS 6.1 update for the general public.

With the closed nature of iOS, there are more and more consumers emerging who are eager to explore the iPhone in its inner depths and unlock features that Apple would never normally allow. Jailbreaking iPhones is still a legal process remember unlike iPads, and consumers are now starting to become aware that having access to the Cydia store is now more beneficial than ever.

Then again, it is still a shady area for most consumers and jailbreak processes are not always straight forward. Today we bring news of an iOS 6.1 beta 4 jailbreak, which is possible by using existing redsn0w software and available to download right now for those with a developer account.

You may be disappointed to hear though that this is still a tethered jailbreak, meaning that you’ll have to reapply the jailbreak each time you reboot your device. The jailbreak is only supported on pre-A5 devices as well, once again excluding the iPhone 5 from this list and any other newer device released by Apple.

iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G users are eligible though, so get downloading if you want to explore the latest version of iOS 6 with included access to the Cydia store. Will this now delay the public release of iOS 6.1 further as Apple looks to tighten up security even more?

We’re still no closer to seeing a full iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 yet, so at least Apple is keeping their latest iPhone away from potential hackers. Let us know if you have an iOS developer account. Is Cydia now essential for you or not? For those interested, watch the video below which shows you exactly how to install the jailbreak.

If you are looking forward to the next major update to iOS, you’ll be pleased to hear that we have hints one of core feature that could be ready for when Apple finally releases the iOS 6.1 official software update for supported devices, relating to the Passbook app which hasn’t reached its full potential yet.

At the moment, the exciting Passbook app is still in early stages, with only a few supported apps available on the App Store. If you open the App up now on iOS 6, you’ll be greeted with an intro from Apple, informing you that Passbook will give you the ability to store personal ticket and coupon information in one place, with Apple giving freedom to any developers willing to make a compatible app for Passbook.

For example, if we head into the Passbook App Store section now, we see that there are already a few apps to try out, such as United Airlines, American Airlines, Lufthansa and also a few apps which help you to book hotels. So far, there isn’t too many options related to storing coupons depending on which country you live in, but we expect more developers to welcome Passbook with more open arms as the months progress.

Now, we have news that Passbook is set to gain another major improvement, with word that British Airways are currently in the process of putting an app together exclusively for Passbook. If you are a regular flyer with the company, you’ll probably know that there is already an iOS app available – but British Airways Passbook features should allow for much tighter integration and the ability to store your boarding pass ready for instant scanning.

Do you still believe that Passbook is a positive alternative to the lack of NFC based services that we see so often with Android devices? Just like Adobe Flash, Apple appears to be anti NFC at the moment, with consumers unable to make use of many popular eWallet services.

There is no timeline for the British Airways Passbook update yet, but it could find its way into Apple’s next iOS 6.1 update, which is still in beta testing at the moment. If you are an iOS 6 user, let us know if you have begun using the Passbook features yet or not. What other major iOS 6.1 features would you like to see as a priority?
