Since the UK moved to DST (Daylight Saving Time) on Sunday morning, iPhone owners have been up in arms over the alarm clock problem. A number of our readers had given advice on how to solve this bug – but none of them worked for me. However, Alan Ng reported this morning that Apple has an official fix for this problem until iOS 4.2 is released.

However, having read over the fix I feel that we should wait for iOS 4.2 to fix the issue for us. I have my alarm set on repeat for each morning, so having to delete this and set each day individually will be a pain – I know that I am not the only one thinking this?

I still cannot believe that this issue has come about when to my knowledge, has never happened before? This does show that iOS 4.1 still has a few bugs in it. However, this bug would have been hard for Apple to notice, as DST has only just happened in the UK, and will change over in the U.S. this weekend.

I cannot see the problem with having your alarm set for one-hour earlier until Apple release iOS 4.2, which could be on November 7th, Monday. What have you done to solve this iPhone alarm issue?

We have some good news for those of you who are still having problems fixing your alarm clock on your iPhone 4 after the Daylight Savings Time issue, as Apple has now posted a support thread on their website which will help you to solve the problem.

As reported from Apple Insider, the problem has been aimed at European iPhone 4 owners since the time switch has already occurred, but iPhone 4 owners in the US should also pay attention to this, as the exact problem may occur for you this Sunday, November 7th when Daylight Savings Time officially ends there too.

Apple has made a list of the iOS devices which are affected by the Alarm Clock Bug, which is actually every single device bar the iPad. Apple then advise customers to set the repeat interval to ”Never” on your clocks, and then you’ll need to reset these alarms for each day you need them.

Full details over on the Apple support website. Let us know your thoughts on this.

Following on from our earlier article which informed you of Apple’s GM release of iOS 4.2, iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has confirmed that a new unlock method using ultrasn0w will be available shortly after Apple’s release.

As reported from RedmondPie, MuscleNerd hinted that the new unlock will be out around 2 days after Apple release the official update to iOS 4.2.

His latest Tweet reads: ”MuscleNerd: @simplysaru if you’re on 3G or 3GS, just a day or 2 at most after 4.2 is public (just enough time to verify stuff)”

Unfortunately, this unlock method will not be available for the iPhone 4 yet as MuscleNerd stated that the updated version of ultrasn0w will only support the iPhone 3G and 3GS running iOS 4.1 and 4.2 for now.

That doesn’t rule out an unlock for the iPhone 4 completely though, you’ll just have to wait longer than 3G and 3GS owners. It is definitely good news though for 3G and 3GS users who have been waiting for an unlock even before Limera1n was released.

Earlier today we discussed the issue with the alarm on the iPhone following the software’s DST glitch. It was evident that a number of people did oversleep and have an extra hour of sleep – now Apple has the power to keep you asleep for longer.

There have been a number of tweets on peoples Twitter accounts asking if anyone else overslept and what can they do if it happens again tomorrow. Well, this is a simple fix thanks Djmel, who explained that all you need to do is delete your saved alarms and set new ones.

Tweets are still coming in, with most of them offering details on a number of clock apps for your iPhone. OK, so we know that you do not need any new apps, but just do a test set to make certain that your alarm will go off at the correct time.

One tweet has said that they are just off to bed now, and that they are uncertain if their alarm will go off at the correct time. I do find it strange that bosses in Europe have not complained about this bug, as thousands of workers would have been late this morning.

Were you late for work this morning?

When I first heard that iPhone owners were having an issue with their alarm after the DST, I assumed that it was an isolated incident – that was until it happed to me this morning. We now know that this problem is more widespread than first thought.

Luckily I woke up without the aid of my alarm, but I am sure that there are thousands of you who did not and are now running late. The worrying thing is, there is currently no solution for this, as we will have to wait until iOS 4.2.

The best thing to do for now is to set your alarm one-hour earlier than you would normally – but only those who are now on Daylight Savings Time. Unhappy iPhone users are frustrated with Apple not releasing a small update to patch this problem, but why would they when iOS 4.2 is just days – if not weeks away from a general release download? We think this, as Apple is to hold a secret event this week,

However, with the U.S. all set for DST on November 7th, maybe Steve Jobs will force an update for his fellow Americans – we all know how he likes to give them preferential treatment.

We recently learned that Greenpois0n had been delayed, so you can imagine how shocked we were when the Chronic Dev Team launched the jailbreak for the iPhone 4 and 3GS running iOS 41 today. As you can imagine there will be a huge number of people looking to download and install the new jailbreak, so we have found this useful how to guide.

Gamal Sabry from Covering Web has a nine-step guide on how to get Greenpois0n installed on your Apple smartphone, just for those who have had a bit of trouble.

The first step is the easy part, downloading the jailbreak, with the second step making certain that you have your handset connected to your computer before launching the Greenpois0n app.

The following steps are shown by a series of images on the Covering Web website, which certainly makes it much simpler to understand.

Earlier today it had been assumed that Limera1n by Geohot would be released on October 11th, one day after the GreenPois0n jailbreak from the Chronic Dev-Team, However, in a strange twist the former is now live and ready for download.

We can already see by the number of tweets from @chronicdevteam that they do not seem too happy to be beaten with a jailbreak for iOS 4, which unlike GreenPois0n supports all models of the iPhone, iPod Touch, as well as the Apple iPad.

Limera1n is currently only available for Windows, which you can download by going to the official limera1n website. Mac and Linux versions will be coming soon.

Once you hit the download for windows link you will then have the choice to open or save a text.doc file, from there you will be given full instructions. Let us know how you got on.

Owners of the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G can now get Redsn0w 0.9.6 for Windows. This will allow you to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on your device.

Taimur Asad of Redmond Pie is reporting that if you have an iPhone 3G that relies on Ultrasn0w unlock don’t download Redsn0w. This is because it updates your baseband to the latest version, which for the time being makes it impossible to unlock.

Owners are advised to do this jailbreak at their own risk only. This download is a beta release for the devices at FW 4.0 or 4.1, and it has the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit which has been used since the 2.x days. The SHAtter exploit developed by pod2g is not included in the download.

Those of you who have the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPad, and Apple TV 2G will have to wait until Sunday to jailbreak iOS 4.1 when GreenPois0n is released.

Go to Redmond Pie for detailed instructions on how to update your device after downloading Redsn0w 0.9.6.

Following on that GreenPois0n will support the fourth-generation iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad; I wondered if you will download the jailbreak this Sunday, or will you wait? The jailbreak also supports the Apple iPad, but just those who are running iOS 3.2.2.

The news that GreenPois0n will finally be released Sunday came as a surprise to some, as a recent tweet from a member of the Dev team did say that there was a chance that it would be released before Saturday, it seems that some of us took the word maybe as a yes – as did I.

The release day as you well know is Sunday, and it is believed to begin at 10:10AM GMT. We have yet to see an official response on the GreenPois0n website, but did we really expect to?

There are those who will be going to the official website on Sunday 10th October and keep refreshing the page to see the jailbreak go live. Judging by the huge response that GreenPois0n has had, we can expect the servers to slow down, let us hope that this will not cause any problems for you.

The wait for GreenPois0n is almost over, with recent hints suggesting that the iPhone 4.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4 could be released before Saturday. This means that we could see it ready for download tomorrow. Although we cannot confirm this 100 percent, it is just the latest update in one of the most anticipated jailbreaks yet.

Ahmed Omar from CoveringWeb learned of this latest news from a tweet; it seems as if p0sixninja, a Chronic Dev Team member decided to answer the question if the jailbreak will be released before Saturday. The answer was maybe, which to many of us means yes; would you not agree?

OK, I know that this is still very vague, but this could mean that we are either hours or a day away from GreenPois0n. There is still much we do not know, but Alan Ng has been keeping us informed along the way; did you know that you will be able to hacktivate your device once you have downloaded?

Once the GreenPois0n jailbreak goes live we will be with your every step of the way, giving what advice we can. Do you believe that GreenPois0n is hours or just one day away?
