Intel Q3 profits up and set to rise for Q4
The world’s largest chipmaker has announced record earnings for Q3, and the future sales outlook looks even better, as Q4 profits could also rise even further. CTL 2go PC Atom-powered Nettop : Just $149
CTL gave us the 2go PC laptop, which as you know had a very cheap price tag, the company now wish to give us a 2go PC Nettop. There are reports that the price will be from $149 to $299 depending on specifications.
The base model will feature Intel’s Atom 230 processor, along with 1GB of RAM and GMA 950 graphics accelerator. The computer will support one HDD as well as one optical drive.
The Essential Plus Edition will come with an 80GB hard drive, but will only have 512MB of RAM. The $299 version has a 160GB hard drive as well as 1GB of RAM. As yet there is no word on a release date.
Combination of TV and Internet with Intel and Yahoo

There have been companies such as WebTV who tried to combine Internet capabilities and television viewing and have failed in the past, but there has been some success stories such as DirectTV initiative and Viiv, But now Santa Clara said they have found a a way to pair the two types of contents seamlessly.
At ADF this week, a new widget channel was announced by Intel who are in partnership with Yahoo, the concept is said to finally entice viewers into viewing the television as a portal through which they are able to access online data.
The Widget Channel will be powered by an Intel system-on-a-chip (SoC) product, and will contain “a high-performance Intel architecture processor core, multi-stream high-definition video processing, integrated graphics and lots of other functional units to aid set top boxes and other CE devices run multiple widgets concurrently with TV programming.” We presume these first devices will be based on the Intel CE 3100 the company announced today.
So Intel and Yahoo have designed a flexible system, and it will be capable of displaying widgets from multiple vendors and providers.

Intel releases USB 3.0 specifications: 4.8Gbps transfer rate

We reported to a while back about USB 3.0 getting tested at CES 2008, well now we have the latest news that may interest you. Intel has just released USB 3.0 specifications.
We was all a little worried when Intel announced that they was going release a brand new USB as standard until we heard it was USB 3.0 and what its capabilities was. Yes being backward compatible is very interesting indeed but Intel’s latest announcement proves to be good.
We already new that the new USB 3.0 would have a transfer rate of 4.8Gbps which is roughly ten-times faster than that of the current USB 2.0, we also know now that it will be much better in the way of power consumption.

Intel has released a draft specification for the next iteration of the USB eXtensible Host Controller Interface
Those who joined Intel to form the USB 3 Promoter Group were HP, Microsoft, NEC, NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments and their aim is to get USB 3.0 on the market as early as 2009.

Intel Announcement: New Technology Remote Wake, Jahjah

When it comes to technology we all know that Intel is always ahead in the industry, well the latest news has it that Intel has recently made an announcement of a brand new technology that is interesting.
Basically this new technology will wake up your computer from sleep-mode, once it does this it will accept requests to access date and even accept phone calls. This new technology is called “Remote Wake” which will in simple terms turns your computer into an answering machine when you are not around, this new system will be available next month.
The technical bit: This ill be available on select Intel 4 Series Express Chipsets-based PCs equipped, it can therefore be accessed from an internet connected device, you know like a cell phone, laptop or any other internet mobile device, a third-party application or service is needed.
Intel have banged their heads with Jajah the internet telephony company, the reason for this is simple, and it will allow customers to access the company’s telephony support system.
