If you have recently played Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One on your PlayStation 3 you will have noticed that a new title update for the game has been rolled out over the PlayStation Network, today we thought we would give you a quick run through of what changes this patch brings to the game.

According to this post on the Insomniac Games forums the patch is 23MB in size, therefore it shouldn’t take too long to install. Once installed you should notice that online stability should be improved and we are told that bandwidth optimizations have been made, also audio problems which occurred during Gorthon Crater segment should be fixed along with another issue with purchasing weapons when joining late to a game.

Some of our readers are self-confessed Trophy hunters, well Insomniac has revised some Trophy descriptions so that it should be easier to understand exactly you need to do to earn particular Trophies. The only change which will change gameplay relates to public games, apparently players will now be able to join public games in levels which they have not yet unlocked – are you happy with this change?

We are hearing some reports of problems post update, a member of the forums called “willynt” suggests that since installing the patch his game crashed twice in 20 minutes, whilst another gamer claims that the update has changed the taxi segment of the first level and it is now impossible to avoid damage. You can find out all about problems with this patch here, if you have experienced any issues since installing the update feel free to leave us a comment below.

Are you happy with the changes this update brings to All 4 One?

There seems to be mixed feelings when it comes to the review of Resistance 3, which seems a shame, as it is a good game when all is said and done – so why are sales so poor? The game has only managed to shift around 274,000 copies, which considering the install base of the PS3 is a little shocking. There are many reasons why things are going wrong, but it is believed that the publisher is shifting its focus – no not to the PS4 either.

There is reason to believe that Sony Computer Entertainment has forgotten about the PlayStation console and are now putting a huge percentage of their effort into the upcoming handheld. Now we are not saying that Sony are abandoning the Resistance franchise, rather just making the Vita launch as big as they possible can – just a shame that the PS3 title has to suffer because of it.

MMGN are a little confused, as they thought that Resistance 3 was meant to receive a huge launch; so how come it is considered to be one of the most shocking videogame launches of all time? These next few months are the busiest when it comes to launches in the gaming market, Battlefield 3 is just around the corner, as is MW3 and Uncharted 3; you would have thought that Sony would have made more of an effort?

Maybe we are reading too much into this, as the Resistance franchise was never the strongest from Sony, but still just over three quarters of a million copies is laughable. The biggest issue for us has to be the lack of marketing, how much have they really pushed the new game? There could be a simple explanation to this, but we cannot help but feel that Resistance is a dying franchise.

You may have to wait a few more days for Resistance 3 to release in Europe, but those in the U.S. can get the game today. As reported yesterday, some gamers are waiting to read a Resistance 3 review rather than buy the game then find out how bad or good it is, so we thought a review roundup was in order that shows some of the first reviews online today.

Being Nerdy has posted a full review in this article, which explains how the game feels over the first few hours, and while the weapons are fully upgradeable this also has its advantages and disadvantages. In summary they found that Resistance 3 would be a nice addition to your PS3 library, but also point to this game launching right at the start of an incredible season for game releases. The action and gritty atmosphere in Resistance 3 will help immerse the player in an amazing environment.

In a review by Mash Those Buttons, they point out right away that Resistance 3 puts the player in control of someone else, and not Nathan Hale as before. This time you will become Joseph Capelli, his killer. The reviewer points out that you’ll not be disappointed with this choice of main character, and that you still get the great atmosphere and even an experience that feels more personal. In their Resistance 3 summary the scores are grouped by visuals, sound, control, gameplay, fun, and addiction with an overall score of 4 out of 5. You can read the full review here.

The popular gaming site Inc Gamers has also posted a review of Resistance 3 in the last few hours, which is slightly longer than the other two. They loved the visuals that show an environment exposed to the elements, with a frozen NYC, destroyed buildings and scorched lands. The overall score of 7/10 was due to a disappointing part of the game that was a total let down to the reviewer, which could have seen the game with much higher scores. Read Inc Gamers full review.

The above Resistance 3 reviews are some of the first to be released, so keep an eye out for more as they’re posted this week. If you’ve played the game, then let us know your thoughts in the comments.

If you plan on buying Resistance 3 don’t watch the video below as it shows the last 10 minutes of gameplay.

We have been scouring the web for a decent Resistance 3 review, however it looks like all of the best game critics have been told to wait until the game’s release date before they publish theirs – the question is will you head over to your local game store to pick up a copy of Resistance 3 tomorrow before seeing professional reviews?

For roughly a month lots of gamers have been taking advantage of the games beta, this finished yesterday and on the whole we heard great things about it – today we wonder whether gamers have seen enough to commit to spending $59.99 on the game, or whether they will wait for critic and consumer reviews and then decide.

The game’s developer, Insomniac Games, has a great reputation and reviews for both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 were great, in fact if you check out MetaCritic you will see that the games have MetaScores of 86 and 87 out of 100 respectively – surely Resistance 3 is destined for success. Not only has Insomniac Games seen great success when it comes to the Resistance series but these guys are also responsible for Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet and Clank, therefore it would be fair to say they know how to impress PlayStation gamers.

As previously mentioned we don’t have any reviews of the full game to talk about, however this CVG article it has been described as refreshing, not only this but sources suggest that this is the best Resistance yet and a perfect ending to the trilogy.

If you head over to PlayStation World or Citrus Mojo you can see detailed reviews of the game’s beta, it is clear that the beta was far-from perfect and lag seemed to be a major factor, that said once you rank up and get into a lag-free game you will enjoy it – but is the lag going to be worse once the game is released in North America on September 6th? Let’s hope the devs have gained valuable insight from the beta test and fixed plenty of known issues.

Will you buy Resistance 3 on its release date or are you going to wait to see some reputable critic reviews?

The moment that many a Resistance fan has been waiting patiently for is almost upon us now, and by that we mean the forthcoming arrival of the highly anticipated Resistance 3 game. With the worldwide launch only a couple of weeks away, the developer Insomniac Games has decided that now is the right time to reveal the full list of PS3 trophies.

As recently noted by Brandon Winfrey – Community Intern at Insomniac Games – over on the blog.us.playstation.com website, there are a total of 59 trophies available to unlock in the Resistance 3 game, including 53 bronze, 4 silver, 1 gold and 1 platinum. As many of you will already be aware, the platinum trophy can only be unlocked once all the other trophies have been obtained.

The list of bronze trophies that are available to unlock include Slaybells, Overload, Raining Limbs, Juggler, Gardener, Up Your Arsenal, Weaponsmith and This is My Rifle. In order to unlock the Slaybells trophy, players must make Santa and his reindeer fly. The Gardener trophy on the other hand can be achieved by destroying 100 Blast Roots.

Getting a kill with every single weapon in your arsenal will get you the Up Your Arsenal trophy. Another bronze trophy on the list is Cheap Shots, which requires players to kill 25 enemies by firing the Auger through an object. To achieve the Raining Limbs trophy, players are required to kill a total of twenty-five Grims using only grenades.

Once a player has upgraded five weapons in Campaign, they will unlock the Weaponsmith trophy. Killing 20 enemies with Melee whilst they are idle will net you the bronze Backstabber trophy. If players manage to knock a Hybrid off the cliffs in Mt. Pleasant, PA, they will receive the Roops! Trophy. The bronze Collector trophy simply requires you to collect 10 Intel.

Meanwhile, the list of silver trophies includes Irresistible Force, Master Mechanic, Archivalist and Silent Partner. To unlock the Silent Partner trophy, players are required to damage the same enemy in Cooperative Mode for 100 kills. Players who manage to collect all of the journals will be rewarded with the silver Archivalist trophy.

As for the gold Brutal trophy, this requires players to complete the Campaign Mode on Superhuman. You can read more about the PS3 trophies list over on the blog.us.playstation.com website. Are you looking forward to the arrival of the Resistance 3 game?

The moment that many a Resistance fan had been waiting patiently for finally arrived towards the end of last week, and by that we mean the launch of the much-anticipated Resistance 3 public multiplayer beta. However, up until today, it was only people that own a copy of the SOCOM 4 game that were able to access the said beta.

A number of gaming websites have had access to the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta since it launched last week, and have shared their first impressions with their readers. As Anthony Mole over at gamerant.com recently noted, Insomniac Games has made quite a few changes to the Resistance franchise, with many of them being for the better.

For those of you that don’t already know, the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta includes two different game modes: the hugely popular Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction. Team Deathmatch is the same mode found in many other online shooters, where two teams battle it out until one team reaches the set kill limit – or the game’s time runs out.

Chain Reaction on the other hand has two teams fighting to capture a neutral command point located in the center of the map. Capturing a command point will push the opposite team back to their fall-back flag, and then back even more to their first. There are a total of five command points in the Chain Reaction mode, and the aim is to capture them all.

There are a lot of new things to get used to in the Resistance 3 game, with the lower player count being the most obvious. Although the smaller player count allows for more focused action in Resistance 3, it does open up the game to a rather frustrating issue – spawn proximity. Anthony says there were a number of times when players spawned near to enemies.

Another new feature that’s been added to the Resistance franchise is killstreaks. Every killstreak is said to have a faction tied to it. For instance, a killstreak of three would provide human players with a combat shield, while Chimera players would receive the cloak ability. Another thing that gamers will have to get used to in Resistance 3 game is the weapons.

All of the franchise’s signature weapons have received some big changes including the Bullseye, which now comes with holographic sight. As gamers progress through the ranks, they will earn themselves skill points. These skill points can then be used to upgrade old weapons, purchase new ones or even buy active / passive abilities.

Have you had a chance to try out the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta yet?

We know that many of you Resistance fans have been looking forward to the start of the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta, which we were told would start at the beginning of August. As August is creeping up on us, we now have some great news for Resistance 3 hopefuls who can start signing up for the multiplayer beta that starts August 10 in Europe.

Insomniac Games are giving first priority to PlayStation Plus subscribers, but we are told that even if you are not a PS Plus subscriber, you will still get a chance to take part in the beta sometime after this date. PS Plus subscribers will not need any sort of beta code, unlike US customers, to access Resistance 3 as it will appear in the PlayStation Plus section of the PSN store.

If you live in the US, the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta starts a little earlier than the European start date. The circumstances are a little different too, as you must have purchased SOCOM 4 that comes with a specially included beta code. The beta for US customers kicks off on August 4 and you can use your special beta code from this date to get access.

Good news all around then, Resistance fans. As we now know when the official date for Resistance 3 multiplayer beta kicks off, you will be able to take part in two game modes; Chain Reaction and Team Deathmatch. The final release, which is scheduled to arrive around a month from when the beta kicks off, will have a total of five game modes.

When we first announced that the beta was to be announced in the coming weeks, we were not yet aware of what maps the Resistance 3 open beta would include. We can now tell you that Insomniac Games have revealed two major maps will be playable; the Seaside of Glamorgan, Wales, and Trainyard in Bogota, Colombia.

Insomniac Games have also told us that whilst playing the beta, you can level your character up, but it is capped to level 20 which means that you wont be able to get the full scope of available abilities, mode, maps, and weapons until the game launches in September.

With the beta opening up in in just under a week (for US customers), those of you who are lucky enough to have got yourself a beta code from SOCOM 4 should be able to get a firm taste of what to expect with the final release, which also helps a big deal towards testing the games online infrastructure to make it the best experience for everyone. You can check out more information form the official PlayStation Blog.

Have you got yourself a beta code from SOCOM 4, or are a PS Plus subscriber who wants to take part in the open beta? Let us know your experiences in the comments below.

Yet another Insomniac Games release that is hitting headlines today along with the start of the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta, is the new Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One trailer, we have embedded this trailer at the end of this post, below we talk about some of the exciting things the video reveals.

As with every Ratchet & Clank game, the incredible diversity and immense arsenal of available weapons is astounding. This is what the new series of trailers intends to show us, and with part one we get to see just some of the exaggerated, over the top weaponry that can turn our enemies into space dust.

First up, the Combuster. Nothing really fancy about this one apart from that it shoots spurts of yellow light-filled plasma at enemies. From the not-so-fancy to the damn-right ridiculous, the Darkstar Fission Tether is a beast in its own right. From what we can see, the Tether connects you all by an electic force which then also fires this lightning-styled thunderbolts at groups of enemies, meaning that you kill and damage more than one at once.

The Warmonger, on the other hand seems like a heavy weapons substitute, and looks as though it will be used to create much more damage at the penalty of not having a quick fire rate. Last but not least, the Thundersmack which acts a lot like the Combuster, but instead of yellow plasma, this fires blue thunderbolts to destroy enemies.

All in all, the reception that Ratchet & Clank seem to be getting with their latest outing; All 4 One, is mostly positive. The inclusion of four-player online co-operative gameplay is a sure-fire way of expanding the series, and will allow you to take control of the 4 in-game characters; Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Dr. Nefarious who will be once again ridding the world of evil in their rather unique and quirky way.

As for the games plot, main characters Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark and Doctor Nefarious find themselves in a machine known as the Creature Collector after a an evil plan set in motion by Nefarious backfires. You can find out more about the game from Wikipedia.

What are your first impressions of the weapons available in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One? Will you be purchasing when the game gets a release on October 18 (US), October 20 (AUS) and October 21 (EU)?

Insomniac Games recently unveiled some great news for PS3 gamers at Comic-Con 2011, they have given us a pretty accurate indication as to when the game’s multiplayer beta will kick off, not only this but they have reconfirmed how US and European gamers can get access to the beta.

No date has been set, however we can confirm that the beta start date will arrive in the opening week of August, this should mean that people will be able to get some hands-on time with the game’s multiplayer offerings within two weeks, neat eh? Currently we cannot confirm how long the beta will be live for, therefore we will have to keep you posted.

We can confirm that the beta will allow you to play two game modes, Chain Reaction and Team Deathmatch, however we do not know what maps gamers will have access to. What surprises us is the fact that the beta kicks off roughly one month before the game’s official release, this suggests that a day one patch will be launched to smooth out issues found during beta testing, but it does certainly put developers under a bit of pressure. The game will arrive in North America on September 6 and in the EU from September 8, it has been almost three years since Resistance 2 arrived, therefore we are sure that there will be lots of interest surrounding this release.

If you want to know how to get access to the beta it all depends on where you live, US gamers who bought SOCOM 4 will get access to the beta, we confirmed this back in January here. As for European gamers you will have to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to gain play the multiplayer beta, we confirmed this back in April.

So if you are not currently eligible to play the beta it is not too late, Europeans can subscribe to PS Plus, whilst Americans can purchase SOCOM 4, not only will this gain you access to the Resistance 3 beta but you can enjoy SOCOM 4 for a couple of weeks before the beta kicks off. SOCOM 4 arrived back in April this year and received mainly positive reviews.

Earlier today we introduced you to Resistance 3′s latest trailer which shows off the game’s survivor edition, you can find out all about this here, this may interest gamers who take Resistance 3 more seriously.

Will you be playing the game’s beta?

A couple of months ago we provided our readers with information on all of the US retailer-specific pre-order bonuses that are available for the much-anticipated Resistance 3 game. Around about the same time, both the developer and publisher announced details for the Special Edition and Survivor Edition of the game, as well as information on a PS3 bundle.

We now have even more exciting news for Resistance fans, as according to Lisa over at el33tonline.com, a new trailer that shows off the upcoming Survivor Edition has just made its way online. However, before we go on to speak about the Survivor Edition trailer, we’d like to remind you of the pre-order bonuses that are available across PAL regions.

The previously announced pre-order bonuses include a real-life Chimera tooth necklace, special ‘Sentinel’ multiplayer title, SRPA Black Ops skin, Air Fuel Grenade, multiplayer booster and infected Nathan Hale skin. Although these pre-order bonuses do relate to specific retailers, we don’t have a list to show you which retailer offers which pre-order bonus.

Those who purchase the Special Edition of the Resistance 3 game – which is due to arrive on September 6th in North America, September 8th in Australia and Japan and September 9th in Europe – will receive a Steelbook case and a vinyl effect Blu-ray disc, as well as a voucher code for all of the previously mentioned pre-order items.

Meanwhile, the Resistance 3 PlayStation 3 bundle comes with a 320GB PS3 console and a standard edition of the Resistance 3 game. The best edition of them all however has to be the Survivor Edition, which you can view in the video below this post. The Survivor Edition comes with all of the content included in the Special Edition, plus a few more additional goodies.

For those of you that don’t know, the contents of the Survivor Edition will include a life-size Chimera firing range target poster, Capelli’s canvas satchel, an SRPA hip flask, a deck of SRPA playing cards, Capelli’s journal, which details his journey, weapons and enemies, and ‘Fight for Freedom’ toy soldiers depicting both Capelli and Chimera fighters.

Have you pre-ordered a copy of Insomniac Games’ much-anticipated Resistance 3 game yet? If you haven’t, would you consider buying the Special Edition of Survivor Edition?
